Someone will try high benefits or universal basic income once more jobs are automated otherwise there will be a lot of homeless people.

My most memorable recent experience that really ticked me off
My sister and I pull up to a wingstop and we both drive nice sport coupes that sound modified and we both dress very classy. This panhandler literally runs to us as we get out asking for money. We offered to buy him dinner and he gave us the run around backing up a bit and really trying to have us give him money. We ended up giving him nothing. Like, really dude? Are you even homeless or just looking for free shit to take to your house.
There are a lot of panhandlers near my work. My boss sometimes offers them odd jobs. Only one guy has ever taken him up on the offer. I give him money when I see him, but not the others.
Relatable. I’ve offered jobs to a lot of panhandlers before when I was a contractor, but they’ve all said no-_- it’s almost like the only way to find if one is genuine is to offer him work and if he takes it, then he’s clearly in need of a helping hand.click to expand

Homeless in LA are different than homeless other places. LA in particular is bad about them.
A lot of homeless in my city is because of drugs in some way shape or form. They’re either active users or decades long on/off have just worn away their mental health, soul and any helpful relationship they had left. Homeless in LA can actually be very well spoken, intelligent and cohesive individuals who normally got hit with shit circumstances and had no support network. That’s why so many documentaries and news bites about changing homelessness are filmed in LA.
It’s up to cities to approach that problem since each economic structure is so different. My city is one of the fastest growing for affordable and immersed low income housing. It sucks for those at the higher end of lower class or the lower end of middle class. But the homing retention rates are good. Not dumps either. I lived on the same street as one and their townhouses were nicer than my rental. Lol.

And it’s homelessness not bums. I swear people are so mentally ill on this thing.

Good observation.
Do you think that there are more bums as the result of increasingly automated and digital technology taking over employment and production opportunities?
I’m not sure there are yet but there will be. We already have automatic machines for paying money into a bank, taking your McDonald’s order and scanning your groceries so jobs have been lost. I think the main impact will be in 5 to 15 years.click to expand

It's all about incentives. When taxes are high, people will lose the incentive to work. Also, with inflation, retired individuals are finding it hard to live. They are running out of money. The government gives people so much money, they do not see the need to work. Why would you work when you're getting free money monthly? A plethora of veterans are homeless and the housing prices in LA are extremely high! Everything in LA is expensive. However, there are many reasons for homelessness (drugs, disabilities, etc.). It's sad and I think we as citizens need to do a better job at volunteering or doing what we can without the help of the government.

ive tried to teach them to fish by offering them jobs as well as a bit of financial help. no one took the opportunity. i saw this one homeless man begging for money for food. a lady just bought a meal, didnt touch it. it was hot and fresh, wrapped up. he went through the bag and threw it down. he said he didn't want that shit, he wanted money.
also many ppl get over by pretending to be beggars. meanwhile after a day of panhandling, they go off and hop in their fancy cars and drive to their fancy homes. a real homeless person will do whatever they need to get on their feet. too many con artists in this world.

Hahaha, got your panties in a bunch over the use of politically incorrect language?
Some people call them bums, some people call them homeless.
Taking out your SJW insecurities on others is pathetic.

I remember watching a documentary where this homeless guy said he lost everything during the 2008-2010 financial crisis.
What he does now is help shelters and soup kitchens distribute blankets and food to those homeless people who aren't able to go to those places for help. He himself does odd jobs here and there for pocket money, and claims that he never begs.

I would like to cite the United States Supreme Court case of Pot V. Kettle.
You came here to attack me rather than discuss things like everyone else.
That makes you a pussy, not an adult.

Yeah, it's getting to the point where I run red lights at night sometimes.
Depends on where I am, of course.
To get home, I have to do a uturn on a one way Blvd. It is the ideal corner for panhandlers because it's a one way and a long light. They actually fight over that corner. I just look straight ahead and have never had a problem but I always get nervous at night and stay alert.
My male coworker had one kicking his car once.click to expand

One of the reasons some homeless people don’t accept food is because they don’t trust that the food hasn’t been messed with. There are people out there that like to put literal and figurative shit in food and give it to the homeless to eat.
Think a few years ago some teen beat up and stabbed a homeless man to death in Fremantle by E shed markets.click to expand

I am watching a few documentaries on YouTube about them, and there are a ton of them in Los Angeles.
It seems like LA is the mecca of bums.
Anyway, what is the solution to the problem here? Will they work? Where will they live?
