Online - Dating site or forum like this

Through friends - you both had mutual friends and were introduced through them

Work- both worked at same company

Cold Approach - You or him/her cold approached one another in the day. Like a store, or coffeeshop. Or at night like a lounge, club, bar, or concert?

Being taken - you met each other while still in relationships

Thanks for your replies. This friend of mine asked me to write a piece for her website giving the 30 something guys perspective on dating today.

I told her i would see what i can do. But if i couldn't write something substantial or get decent research i would trash it

If i do go through with it, I may include how men cold approaching unless they look like a young brad pitt clone or do it in a coffeshop, is mostly ineffective.

And it seems what people are saying here confirms that im right.

I dont know exactly what im going to write in specific about, but am giving it a whirl.

Through a mutual friend. Me and the friend were both into music. I had recently downloaded a bunch of new material and he told me about a friend of his who was looking for new music for his band to practise with. He told me to make a list of what I've got so far and I was like

"oh hell no, it's gonna take me a whole week to put that together, bring him over and he can go through my music folder himself."

And am I glad it turned out that way. They showed up with a couple other guys, but I only had eyes for him. The second I saw him, it felt like there were 100 dolphins swimming in my gut. My first thought was "GODAMN he's fine!!". With his short-cropped blond hair, kind blue eyes and sparkling smile, he looked like an angel. Too bad I was gay and he was straight. But we became instant friends and I kept my attraction a secret for over 3 years, though I did tell him I'm gay and promised I wouldn't cross the line.

But I had underestimated myself and what I have to offer, so when he started relying on me for emotional support over time, our friendship changed and we grew much closer the more time passed. Now we're a few weeks after his 25th birthday and my wildest dreams have come true.
