there is a safetyness and comfort of knowing someone who is close to home.
but I wonder, since there are men AND women who also wouldn't mind marrying someone foreign.
Especially I read here online on this forum too, that they feel they are gonna marry someone foreign or someone with a different cultural background.

When I worked at the mines a lot of the guys had an Asian wives. I assume a lot of them were mail order brides. I'd walk into a room and there'd be a wedding or family photo. It became very normal to me. The conventional way doesn't work for all guys. I would see these guys at the bar and they were nice enough but they just didn't know how to be social around women. They were blokey but not in an attractive way. Some just can't deal with 'western' (cringey word but appropriate in this context) women and their independence.
I would find it scary but then again I'm not in the situation of these women.
but then again, once you meet the Asian woman and she is talking and you notice she is foreign, then you get a bit hmmm did he marry her from out of the country? it would be convenient because he works (the men you are talking about) in the mine and doesn't need no flak from some local women who demands his time and not for him to go to the bar all the time. I mean the ratio of Chinese men in china is HUGE compared to Chinese women so to see their own Chinese Local women go for other than their own pisses them off. they are already pissed off that they can't find more women and they see these Chinese ladies go off with a foreign man really pisses them off.... no wonder Don John was also pissed off when he makes those topics on Asian women going for foreign men. Yeah I know some of them were local but I seriously doubt all of them are. The Asian Australians either marry other Asians or the socially adept Australians. If you knew these guys you'd understand why. There's always expectations to the rule though.
I understand what you mean though about some of the local women. The donga walls are thin and you can hear phone conversations. It was like a game of 20 questions for some of these poor bastards. Socializing is really important when you work away. Mental health is starting to become an issue for fifo workers. There were 4 suicides in the five years I worked away and they're just the ones I knew of. These women need a good slapping if they try stop their partners from going to the bar after work. you don't often hear of 1st world country women and men wanting to get a Vietnam passport or African (name any country other than South Africa -- which is home to rich white folks) passports or China or some poor Asian country passport, even India.... for what— there is nothing to gain from that, other than just love.

I haven't watched the video entirely. And this is the very first time I heard about this topic.
I have absolutely no problem with moving into the man's house. Settle into his country. And I haven't thought much about any potential problems.
I was willing to do it with the online taurus guy for this similar "arrangement", but to be honest I was the one who pushed it to him. And it's not like he can offer me security. It's been specifically for love. Apparently his vision isn't the same with mine. He doesn't see it to be realistic. But I assume the reason isn't that at all. It broke my heart.
It sucks but whatever. I'm moving on with my life.
But to me, it's not scary at all. Because you must have spent time skyping or talking online, do things together, like watch movies together, listen to music together, even "take a lazy stroll together" (by skyping while you're walking around the neighborhood) sending videos while you're out, etc. So you must have got to know the person to some extent.
To some people, it may look desperate or even pathetic. But what I see it's having no limit in getting the love of your life.

Regarding an earlier post in this thread, every american woman I know would love to date/marry an irish man with an irish accent, and the culture blends well with american culture, not uncouth at all with a hint of high brow and if they are tall and well educated it is sort of the jackpot for women. The irish are pretty popular really and as a nation their economy has been doing well for the past few decades. Membership in the EU has really benefitted them as a whole.

The mail order bride thing seems like it could work for those with pure intentions but to me it seems pretty unromantic. But many view marriage as just another business deal, all the better if you're in love, so I guess it depends on your viewpoint, culture and values.

that is the one that I described above, the very successful pairing with Luda, Russian manager of Restaurant and the two job career man from UK working as pest controller and bouncer at a night club.
they went through the pure intentions, he went to meet the parents and they even cooked Russian food for him too, tried to get to know him even when they suck at langauges. lol
they said this couple was the most successful and happy.

The woman may think of it as usual, just more long-distance, while he may think of her as less fully independent than Western women. They are probably trying their best to beat competition to find security, which the society they live in, is unable or unwilling to provide.
The men are equally lost, IMO. They are stuck in a primitive mindset and believe that by virtue of their being men alone, they can possess any woman and that all women ought to be grateful to have their attention. Being in their 50s & 60s, they are romancing girls less than half their age. The girls may be foreign and living in desperate circumstances, but they are no fools. They exercise the same judgment while choosing mates as any local woman might.
The man in the video said he was looking for a wife, but kept making the mistake of selecting the wrong women. So, the problem was not the fact that there are no eligible women in Texas, but that he's not good at relating with women.
It would be a better bargain if these men were to overcome their social awkwardness and date the local women, in which case there is a less chance of running into gold-diggers.
