In philosophy, "the Absurd" refers to the conflict between (1) the human tendency to seek inherent value and meaning in life and (2) the human inability to find any. In this context absurd does not mean "logically impossible", but rather "humanly impossible". The universe and the human mind do not each separately cause the Absurd, but rather, the Absurd arises by the contradictory nature of the two existing simultaneously. Absurdism is a philosophical school of thought stating that the efforts of humanity to find inherent meaning will ultimately fail (and hence are absurd) because the sheer amount of information as well as the vast realm of the unknown make certainty impossible. And yet, some absurdists state that one should embrace the absurd condition of humankind while conversely continuing to explore and search for meaning. As a philosophy, absurdism thus also explores the fundamental nature of the Absurd and how individuals, once becoming conscious of the Absurd, should respond to it.

Discuss. Thoughts on this?

We describe
a point by its coordinates,
a vector by his 2-3 projections on the reference axis,
an event by location (the projections on the axes) and time,
and so on.

The more (not correlated) pieces of information you know and take, the more specific it gets (for more control and influence from our side). So the number of dimensions and reference values increases. Mathematik suggests that the number is infinite.

And because we don't know all the dimensions we lose wind. At least we lost in the previous centuries. Now we have computers.

The story of "meaning" is similar.
Some things are so simple that we can assign a meaning to them. And the public agrees on it.
For other things we need more time for investigation. We may start with interpolation or illusion or cheap justification.

But what is the reference system? Moral values, religion, or simply evolution?

I can fail in my value system or according to my religion. But somebody can be nice to me (or have a kinder Religion) and tell things which put my wrong-doing in another light and promptly I am able to be a good People again. So my original value system was absurd?

Evolution?
When I am too picky and have no man and no children I'll weaken reproduction of the man kind. At least my own DNA is a loser then. But we are 8 billions. Do we need more children? Or can I add value by writing books, inventing devices, taking care of other people's children? So I leave a legacy from the time of my birth on. Only I don't know what is that I leave behind.

Absurdism is a matter of
1. depression times
2. teen ager times
3. older centuries

Perhaps life is

The journey of a volume along the line of time
And impregnating the barren line of time with a volume
A volume conscious of an image
Returning from the feast of a mirror
This is the way
Someone dies
And someone remains

No fisherman will catch pearls
From a little stream flowing into a ditch
I Know a sad little mermaid
Dwelling in the ocean
Softly, gently blowing
Her heart into a wooden flute
A sad little mermaid
Who dies with a kiss at night.

"... Faced with the inescapable fact that human existence is mad, random and pointless...

At least we are gathered here to take Astrology as a means to describe how meaningful and structured our randomness works.

When my sagy parts want to start a new advanture and my conservative Cat says, "bird in the hand". And Jupiter in Leo wants to indulge where Saturn in Sag wants me to stick with duties.

Is Astrology then dogmatic to give meaning where there's none? Or is it applied Mathematics: the vector addition of components. So there's a meaning and it needs less than 500 stones in the sky?

Did we find us in a hopeless place? Or are we shining bright like diamonds in the sky?

... on subatomic levels, much of reality is random. Human observation determines reality. Information depends on wave functions... quants that know just how much money is transferred ... Mostly driven by machines, and not us anymore.

well, good response. So many things can work without (but still with) precision.

We invent the word "precision", we can say precisely where the particles are to find, but in this ambigious system we can have bombs. Maybe we have just good luck?

"best measure for morality I've seen so far is consequences of an action."

Maybe I understand this wrong. But one day I wanted to help a woman who was getting on a bus. I tried to help her according to what I thought to be her final Destination. But it was wrong. She just used that street Name, it was not her Destination.

Luckily enough she did not get off in the last minute. I was ashamed of myself why I want to help people at any price. Sometimes helping is disturbing. Bad consequences.

evaluation of the consequences depend on the value system too. And "precise" definition of good and bad, helpful and disturbing, meaningful and nonsense.

While I'm writing these lines I am not sure if I am honest or just opposing you.

absurd? bizarr? karmic? ironic twist of fate? addicted to see meaning in every thing?

One of the YouTube comments states so:

Song reminds me of the first time I went to Vegas and I met this girl out there that I had been talking for like a while over the internet. First song I put in my car when I picked her up from infront of her moms house. Stupid me I thought we would last as bestfriends forever but no she ended up meeting a guy a her work and she said she couldn't be my friend anymore. Had just had turned 18 she ended up getting pregnant by the guy soon later he left her. I soon realized karma did it's job : ) Every time I hear this song it reminds me of that dumb girl and it makes me laugh...—
