are you sentimental and keep them and give them to your daughters, or nieces ect, when you get old and pass on?
This definitely.

I have kept love letters that go all the way back to high school.

I have a hard time parting with stuff... Terrible.

i'm pretty sentimental too, I keep a lot of the jewelry that both my grandmother's gave me, hidden and stashed.

my mother always asks me, if we go on the subject of jewelry, "you still have ________ that grandma gave you right?"

SIGHS.

yes mommy!!! of course I do. *groans* it's not given away. It's gonna be with me until I pass on.

as for love letters, nawww. only my husband's poetry books. Other letters given to me by my ex's I throw away long ago. I'm just not invested in them or care anymore, they are past to me, and I already have memories so that's more than enough.

it's not the same with clothing, even really expensive clothing.

they aren't as exchangeable like jewelry, precious metals.

Oh it's not about that, for me, it's the memories ☺️... I mean some of the letters were exchanged as a teenager lol

I'm also an aunt and I've kept/keep alllllll my nephews /nieces drawings and gifts... Play doh creations included. Lol.

my mother is Capricorn moon and she does this, she keeps letters and photos and sentimental things too close, even if they longer exist in her world.

I keep a lot of postcards and birthday cards and letters from family members and friends over the years but for some reason, not ex's. just feels like I should be connected to ONE person in my life monogamously, so I feel more loyal and connected only to one man. It's weird but that's how I feel and it feels right and good for me and maybe others feel that's wrong, but it's just me.

I can see how you would just like to keep everything, like my mother is.

one time, my sister had a photo of a family portrait of all the relatives during Christmas party, and there were maybe 3 dozen of us there, not including children. My ex's face was painted out. lmao!!! haha. that was awesome.

edit - well she didn't like him either because he was not good to me, so that's why too. she hates anyone who puts me down, or hurts me. loyalty between sisters. i'm the same way with her, so I hate any guy who is not good to her.

LOL

We just have got the same thing. I still kept those cards given to me on my 17th birthday. Wooahooo!

It's normally the small little things that makes me happy. So yeah, I'm with you. I'll keep them and will hand them over to my daughter. 🙂

your own love letters? what about jewelry?

I've known family members give hand me downs, (even clothing shoes -- if they fit and aren't old of course) so that's a common trait in family though.

Hi Lisa 🙂

I have inherited jewels and I would never rid myself of them. It's not even jewels, anything that someone has given me, I tend to keep.

yes! i'm the same way. I have jewelry stashed in a safe keeping. My parents have a safe in their house too. lol we don't have a "safe" yet, but i'm considering of buying one for my jewelry.

Lol... I also saved letters from junior high and high school!

@lisabethur8 - I would definitely keep it protected in a safe and WEAR IT. To me, it feels like I still have them with me... It's very meaningful to me.

yes!!! me too. I wear them on special occasions, and I wore them when we went to weddings this past spring, and also to the U.S. when we went, and to the south of Europe. Just small ones, like rings and bracelets and necklaces. My mother gave me some really "gaudy" jewelry that isn't really appropriate for me to wear anywhere. lol

my most recent one is my mother's white gold ring, on my left fingr next to my wedding ring/engagement ring.

Depends, if i like the style then I'm keeping the jewelry. If I'll never wear them then I sell.
ha ha. my mother gave me one of these GAUDY types, a beautiful large jewelry case with a HUGE necklace and earrings and bracelet. the stones look like I could throw them in the sea and watch the ripples in the water.

*smh*

I was like, "where the hell am I gonna wear that??"

she said that my sisters didn't want them, so it was up to me to take them. lol

Well I did like the earrings and bracelet but the necklace is a choker type that would hurt me.
