aw, i thought there would be pictures

Posted by exxtasyxHeres the thing... the more you tell a teenager what they CAN and CANNOT do, the more they want to do the opposite. If you act cool about it, the thing loses its novelty.
I've thought about this before...
I've had a lot of good friends who were girls growing up. And the majority of them dressed provocative for their age, or for any age to begin with. And even though I never want kids, I thought like, what if one day I'll have a little girl? Would I allow her to dress like that? Like the thing with girls is that they are so manipulative. Even if you don't allow them to dress a certain way, they'll just go out, have different clothes to change into in their bag, and change once they're gone. You cannot control a rebellious girl.
So I would allow it, but ONLY in the house. And nowhere else. And I'd check her bag, her purse and everything before she left the house. She can dress how she pleases at the age of 18, and even then I'd force her to take a stun gun and pepper spray with her wherever she goes. But it's like girls, especially 13 and over, have this weird thing about them where they want to explore their sexuality by dressing sexy and it's hard to control that. Plus look at all the music video's and Victoria's Secret ads everywhere influencing them.

Posted by LadyNeptuneThe way I see it is it's not about telling a kid what they can and can't do but show them what they could be.....Wearing clothes is so much fun, they can wear capes and costumes for all I care, you just need to show them that wearing clothes is fun and you teach them by getting them to play dress up's instead of dress down......educate your kids on stylePosted by exxtasyxHeres the thing... the more you tell a teenager what they CAN and CANNOT do, the more they want to do the opposite. My parents were very strict about what I could and couldn't wear growing up. No spagetti strap tanks, short shorts, etc. Once I moved out I found that the only reason I wanted to dress that way was because they didn't want me to. And once I didn't have someone dictating what I was allowed to wear I ended up dressing much more conservative.

Posted by The_eleventh_sign_11Then the parents wonder why they daughters are pregnant at 15....
I was at rehearsals today and a mum shows up with her daughter who looks like she is wearing an over sized shirt that just comes up to her crotch, maybe she was wearing super short shorts underneath, who knows and shes 9 or 10 years old, its autumn here in australia..
I hate it when parents don't teach their kids how to fucking dress, she looked like a mess and she was distracting me because I couldn't figure out what the fuck she was wearing and why is she wearing what she is wearing, I'm not a pedophile I'm just neurotic about things, and I know the whole debate that women can wear whatever they want but I don't think its appropriate for little girls to dress like sluts, especially in autumn it would be appropriate to wear layers at least.
Now we're instagram and tumblr age there are girls who I know as young as 13,14,15 on facebook with them in their undies as their profile pictures posing and trying to get attention, I want to rip their parents heads off , I don't care if its their body and they can do what they want I don't want to see that shit, there are better ways to empower yourself and draw attention to yourself than bad fashion choices

Posted by LadyNeptuneIt all depend on the approach, for sure. My Virgo mother lead by example. Then, her actions matched her words and her words her actions. She was the one who bought my clothes when I was a child and young teenager, and she chose modest wear. The only time my legs showed was when I was in my swim wear, and even then it was just my knees, down. My father enforced it by telling me how beautiful I looked, or how precious I was. I'm an adult now, and I still dress modestly. I wear tights under my dresses, and I'm not resentful of it at all. I hope to instill the same values in my children one day.Posted by exxtasyxHeres the thing... the more you tell a teenager what they CAN and CANNOT do, the more they want to do the opposite.
