I was at rehearsals today and a mum shows up with her daughter who looks like she is wearing an over sized shirt that just comes up to her crotch, maybe she was wearing super short shorts underneath, who knows and shes 9 or 10 years old, its autumn here in australia..

I hate it when parents don't teach their kids how to fucking dress, she looked like a mess and she was distracting me because I couldn't figure out what the fuck she was wearing and why is she wearing what she is wearing, I'm not a pedophile I'm just neurotic about things, and I know the whole debate that women can wear whatever they want but I don't think its appropriate for little girls to dress like sluts, especially in autumn it would be appropriate to wear layers at least.

Now we're instagram and tumblr age there are girls who I know as young as 13,14,15 on facebook with them in their undies as their profile pictures posing and trying to get attention, I want to rip their parents heads off , I don't care if its their body and they can do what they want I don't want to see that shit, there are better ways to empower yourself and draw attention to yourself than bad fashion choices

I've thought about this before...

I've had a lot of good friends who were girls growing up. And the majority of them dressed provocative for their age, or for any age to begin with. And even though I never want kids, I thought like, what if one day I'll have a little girl? Would I allow her to dress like that? Like the thing with girls is that they are so manipulative. Even if you don't allow them to dress a certain way, they'll just go out, have different clothes to change into in their bag, and change once they're gone. You cannot control a rebellious girl.

So I would allow it, but ONLY in the house. And nowhere else. And I'd check her bag, her purse and everything before she left the house. She can dress how she pleases at the age of 18, and even then I'd force her to take a stun gun and pepper spray with her wherever she goes. But it's like girls, especially 13 and over, have this weird thing about them where they want to explore their sexuality by dressing sexy and it's hard to control that. Plus look at all the music video's and Victoria's Secret ads everywhere influencing them.
Heres the thing... the more you tell a teenager what they CAN and CANNOT do, the more they want to do the opposite. If you act cool about it, the thing loses its novelty.

My parents were very strict about what I could and couldn't wear growing up. No spagetti strap tanks, short shorts, etc. Once I moved out I found that the only reason I wanted to dress that way was because they didn't want me to. And once I didn't have someone dictating what I was allowed to wear I ended up dressing much more conservative.

Food for thought.

I mean it has to get to a certain point where it stops right? Like you can only make shorts so short. After the you're simply naked. Same with those tight practically see through bottoms, or what ever the fuck you call them. Yoga pants I think.

It's because most women of today's time, like the men, are watered down, weak, and lost af. Back in the day I assume women would be the first to tell other women how disgraceful they are. Weak women would be considered outcasts and hated in society, therefor most women tried to make sure to impress the other ladies, which also would impress the men. Somewhere along the lines things went haywire, and now it's literally about how disgraceful and careless one can be.

I'm not too worried about the human race in general, because as a whole we always seem to naturally go with the flow of things. Whether those things be outrageous or easy going.

Great post!!' That is all! I just responded to some wacko chick on FB who is standing half naked, like her ass and tits are hanging out. She's promoting that she can dress however provocatively and that men should practice self restraint and she doesn't deserve to get raped.

My response was:

"Sadly for you, you don't live in heaven or some utopia where all men and women are equally good human beings. You are surrounded by good men who will just look but do nothing and practice self restraint. You will also be surrounded by bad people or the morally depraved who would want to do things, and then you have people who are psychologically ill that will do something. Are you really that naive to expect kindness or self restraint from a bad person who is already known to do bad things? Dressing modestly in public is called taking precaution against the bad because ultimately we can't control the actions of others. So please practice caution as we do with everything like driving, eating etc."

The way I see it is it's not about telling a kid what they can and can't do but show them what they could be.....Wearing clothes is so much fun, they can wear capes and costumes for all I care, you just need to show them that wearing clothes is fun and you teach them by getting them to play dress up's instead of dress down......educate your kids on style

Oh man back in the 80 and 90s shit i wasn't even allowed to wear makeup til 17. I wore jeans that were straight legged and full t-shirt to school every day. Take about peer pressure of other kids looking cooler than me with a nice blouse and see flare jeans yes I would switch clothes once I got to school and little makeup and take it all off before going home. I was a major Tom boy still can be today . But I love switching up a bit when going out nowadays.

It all depend on the approach, for sure. My Virgo mother lead by example. Then, her actions matched her words and her words her actions. She was the one who bought my clothes when I was a child and young teenager, and she chose modest wear. The only time my legs showed was when I was in my swim wear, and even then it was just my knees, down. My father enforced it by telling me how beautiful I looked, or how precious I was. I'm an adult now, and I still dress modestly. I wear tights under my dresses, and I'm not resentful of it at all. I hope to instill the same values in my children one day.

style is subjective though.

What you find tacky as fuck someone else might think is legit and cover their kid from head to toe in.
