Hi everyone, hope you are all having a great day. I am an Aries sun (third house) with a mars in cancer (in the sixth house). I've noticed throughout my life, I've always been drawn to some type of sport in order to be content. I understand mars in cancer is technically in "fall", but does this placement make a person want to engage in more physical activity to regulate their emotional well-being? Just curious if anyone can relate, or has had similar experiences. Ty for your responses in advance 🙂.

I would say that your Aries sun plays a part in wanting to be competitive and expel energy.

You mention, “to be content.” This means to me that sports apart of your self identity. Aries, sun are all centered around ego, self fulfillment. It is how you like to be recognized and how you present yourself to the world.

Mars is your tactics. Cancer side steps and doesn’t always have a direct approach to getting what they want. You probably like sports where you feel a strong emotion towards. Mars in cancer doesn’t do anything unless they’re emotionally stimulated. You may even have a habit of psyching your opponents out. Manipulation is good in sports. Maybe you talk trash with sun in the 3rd.

I'm not a die-hard sports fan but I used to like to play sports back in the day. Wayyyy back. I used to play a lot of basketball because it's fun. And I only played football to tackle the shit out of people. That's a good way for us cancer Mars to release anger. I always find watching sports to be unexciting. Unless of course it's golf which I find very relaxing to watch.

Hi, yes I assert myself in a more passive manner in sports settings, however the trash talk bit isn't my thing lol, I just do my thing...*shrugs*.I kind of like all sports, I'm drawn to some more than others, but was wondering if mars in a cardinal sign has some type of impact on that. When I said"to be content", just general happiness...and thanks for your response, it was informative.

Oh nice, bball is pretty fun. Release of anger- lol....for me it was more, release of anxiety...I would feel kind of anxious if I didn't use my nervous energy, I was also pretty introverted as a kid, and a tomboy, so sports was definitely a release.

Yeah, they say finding some healthy physical outlet is important for Mars in Cancer to regulate emotion. Whether it be working out, sports, sex, whatever. I've noticed it's true for me. I played sports growing up. My Mars in Cancer is sextile my moon so it's probably even more important for me lol

Part of what makes Mars in Cancer in "fall" isn't just decreased energy or whatever, but the fact that the Mars is more difficult to "harness" so to speak. But once you figure out what routine works for you, what things activate your Mars, and ways to blow off steam then you're much better off

Just like with literally any placement you can find Mars in Cancer excelling in sports at a high level too. I went down the rabbit hole with boxers and their sun signs before and started to do it with Mars sign too because I was curious, but that takes much longer so didn't do as many. But some of the best boxers ever have Mars in Cancer too. Off the top of my head I can't really remember any except Ezzaed Charles though, who was also a Cancer sun along with his Mars

I noticed a lot of mars in cancers are in martial arts and boxing, you're right. Also, Roger Federer (Leo Sun), has a mars in cancer too.

I don't know. It might've been because of anxiety who knows. But I was too young to know anything about anxiety in those days. I like to say anger because I was always bullied as a young kid. I would always pick the defensive tackle position to play.

The current #1 ranked tennis player in the world is also a Cancer Mars, Novak Djokovic

2 of the best soccer/football players of all time (both from Argentina) are Cancer Mars too, Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi

Wish there was a way to more easily see the Mars signs of boxers and martial artists but I can't find anything

Oh damn, did not know Djokovic had mars in cancer!

Jean-Claude Van Damme has a Cancer Mars. His is the most elevated planet in his chart. He has the Mars Effect, but with a 6th house Mars, you may also have it.

More here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_effect

http://cura.free.fr/xv/14starbb.html

The 6th house rules competition and fitness, so with Mars there, you could definitely be passionate about those things.

Malefic planets (Mars and Saturn) supposedly do well in the malefic houses (6th and 12th).

Read up on Vedic astrology to learn more about that stuff.

Supposedly, a malefic planet in a malefic house can suppress the negative qualities of that house.

Finally, all of these people have a 6th house (routine/diet/fitness/competition) Moon (emotions), and they were/are definitely all emotionally obsessed with those themes:

Tom Brady

Michael Jordan

Serena Williams

Michael Phelps

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Muhammad Ali

I just remembered, Rob Gronkowski has a Cancer Mars.

You can see how he takes kind of a playful and emotional approach to the game, but he is nevertheless a future hall of famer and possibly the GOAT at tight end.

My brother was an Aries with a 6th house Aquarius Mars, and he was a bodybuilder.

Mars in a water sign doesn't mean you're not fierce.

LeBron has a Pisces Mars, but it's conjunct his MC (Mars Effect).

Mars in Capricorn here. Sports played (pun intended!) a big part in my upbringing. I don't think it had much to do with astrology more to do with my parents both being former athletes, my mother more so and I always wanted to mimic her badassery.

Ironically the sport I tolerated as training for season is now really the only exercise I truly love. Also went from group sports in childhood/teenage years to solo as an adult. I find it much more rewarding personally to race the clock then race another person.

Crab and 4th house energy is drawn to sports. Many serious sports fans tend to be Crabs as well.

I got 4th house stellium in Capricorn and i enjoy some sports and was very competitive (sometimes still am but not at sports so much)

I think Cardinals can be drawn to sports but I've noticed Aries Sun the least. They seem to be unfocused and dont take it as seriously or want to follow the rules

Aries energy is more curious, I think we are more drawn to ideas and we exercise intellect more than the physical aspect of things. I have mars in cancer in the 6th, I like competition but I take my time preparing. Cancer energy and 6th house energy is very strategic.

Yes. Aries rules the head(prefrontal cortex) where the horns grow and where decisions are made.

Also the age of Cancer archetype is the teen years. While Aries is infant years. So it makes sense.

I have Mars in Cancer in the 6th house as well. Venus in Aries in 2nd house. I am a damn work horse. Where is your Venus? How is it when it comes to work? My stamina is in excellent shape as well.

Venus in Taurus, I personally enjoy hard work and long hours.
