I'm afraid monitoring your diet is the main way you're going to see results. However if you've had a child you're facing a challenge to get your pre-baby stomach back. Muscles have moved in addition to the extra weight.

Most home videos are going to be pretty inadequate to get what you want but you can try videos by shaun t. I think p90x is supposed to be high intensity as well so worth a try.

Also it's worth noting you are not able to spot reduce fat areas. It comes off from everywhere.

If you are on instagram, it's worth checking out massy.arias. She's got a 6 month old and looks amazing. She might help with inspiration and also some exercises.

ok, Thank you. I only want to lose 15lbs and tone around my stomach. So I should just keep eating healthy?
You can eat "healthy" but you won't lose weight unless you have a calorie deficit. That's where exercise comes in. Exercise will help you increase the amount of calories your body is using each day.

Now you can use more calories by doing some cardio. This will mean you burn for the duration of the exercise or you can do strength training. Strength training will mean that you are buying muscle mass. More muscle requires more calories to function so you will be increasing the amount of calories used all 24 hours of the day.

Now I know you don't have time to go to the gym, so strength training can be done in the form of body weight exercises. Or you can can just do high intensity cardio, like jumping on an exercise bike or going for a run but once you stop, you will stop burning those extra calories.

The main thing is the calorie deficit. It doesn't matter if you eat healthy if you don't have that deficit, you won't lose any weight.

And there is no such thing as toning. You will get leaner but again, the fat you lose will come from everywhere including your stomach.

A word of warning about fad diets. If they are too restrictive you will see results quickly, however it's highly likely you won't be able to keep it up, go on a binge spree and put the weight (and more) back on again.

They say that 95% fail to keep the weight off after 5 years. It's much better to change your habits rather that go on some sort of restricted plan.
can't restrictive meal plans become habit?

thats what happened to me. i saw results and stuck w/ it. been going strong for 2 years now w/ no desire to binge.

If it's too restrictive then most people won't keep it up. You have said yourself that you are slipped a few times and suffered reactions. For the person who doesn't suffer a reaction, it's much harder to stick with an unrealistic and impractical plan.

im sorry, where exactly did i say i "slipped"? i associate slipping w/ eating something bc i have no control. i make very conscious decisions when i eat things outside of my diet (ie: rice, cheese, mangoes).

like i said, i never started the diet to lose weight. i have never ever been over weight. i simply have allergic reactions. so, i eliminated a lot of things for months, then i reincorporated certain foods and paid attention to which foods made me react.

i see results, i stick with what i am doing.

i never knew eating a diet of veggies & lean meats was considered impractical ??โ€โ™€๏ธ

eat lotsa veggies & lean meats! try & stay away from super carb-y things. processed sugars are also a major culprit.

when i started exercising, i downloaded the jillian michaels (i think thats her name? the trainer from biggest loser?) 20 minute exercise routines. it was only like $ 5- $ 8 thru itunes store i think.

there are 3 levels & you work your way up. it is only 20 minutes but they are INTENSE routines.

crunches, squats etc will help with toning abs & legs

i have a crazy diet (no grains, no breads, no sugar. pretty much only veggies & meats) & shed like 5 lbs in the first 1.5 week alone, w/ out exercise. although, my diet is for health/allergy reasons, not weight related.

good luck!!
Thank you I will look into that. Also im proud of you for sticking to your diet and taking care of your health. That's awesome!

I've been trying dieting but it frustrates me. Before I gave birth to my daughter I would spend hours in the gym and eat as much food as I want. Can anyone recommend some home exercise videos? I don't have time for the gym anymore since I have a 1 year old, in college full time and work full time.
I have had two large babies. Two videos helped... each time.

1. Denise Austin: Bounce Back After Baby Workout Finally came out on DVD.

https://www.amazon.com/Denise-Austin-Bounce-After-Workout/dp/B000BU0B3U

2. Abs of Steel: Target Toning Workout [VHS] Abs of Steel VHS Tape (waiting for DVD) But, it's on Youtube:

For purchase: https://m.bonanza.com/listings/abs-of-steel-target-toning-workout-vhs-abs-of-steel-vhs-tape/461211916?goog_pla=1&gpid=177431040541&keyword=&goog_pla=1&pos=1o4&ad_type=pla&gclid=CjwKCAjwlrnNBRBMEiwApKU4PPuqj3jyeRE8VjveLQmOGxLG9-YRO6RfrXnRcEX7WiMBi6NTSdocihoC9OcQAvD_BwE

**************************************************

As I advance, I used ankle and wrist weights.

I had one 10 lb. baby boy and seven years later one 8.5 lb. baby baby girl... both by cesarean section. So, I understand. I am 5'2 and wear a size 4 in everything. Yet, I weigh 135 with DDD cup. These two videos got me right each time. With 2nd baby, I exercised throughout my pregnancy. I tend to drop to a size zero out of love for endorphins, then, I chill back up to a size 4.

I was a junior in college with my first. I controlled my consumption and dropped from a size 9 to 6 but, still didn't look fit. I was breasting for a year. Then, prayed as I looked for a video. I found Denise Austin: Bounce Back After Baby Workout and went to a zero.

Exercise in the morning. You burn more fat and calories.

The problem with going overboard with the cardio is you can lose good fat from your tits and ass. I'd focus less on the scale and more on building a stronger core and eating healthy meals.
What kind of cardio?

That's all I do and I don't loose those fats. Not only that I don't really want to, lol. But I prob will if I do something like yoga. Happened to some of my friends- mind you, they look good either way. all females I know who do yoga seriously have flat stomachs.

Cardio I do is walking, jogging, biking, soccer swimming if I can.

Sry I missed this...

Your switching it up a lot which keeps your body off balance and will actually help build muscle instead of only dropping fat.

When your only doing one type of excercise your body adjusts and you plateau.

I need to lose too.

Just not my booty.

Never the booty.
How much are you trying to loose

As much as possible. I have a 6 month old baby.

I want the fat goooooooone.

Keep in mind that the faster you drop weight the more it shows itself in loose skin. It's almost better to go the slow and steady route.

It took you 9 months to gain that weight. You created life so you get a pass.

How do you lose it slowly in a way that won't take time away from my son?

Have you checked out your thyroid by any chance? I was stuck at a specific weight and it wasn't coming down no matter what I do, then my doctor ran tests and found out my thyroid that controls metabolism was like fuck it, not working. Giving birth could trigger your thyroid to slack.

I'm on meds now and the weight is coming off easily! FINALLY.
I haven't thought about that. I was thinking that maybe I'm not working hard enough or maybe I'm not being consistent. I gained 35lbs during my pregnancy and I only have 10-15lbs left. Its coming off, but its coming off slowly

My doctor started me on cytomel after diagnosing me with hashimotos.. I'm not crazy over weight but since having my son almost 3 years ago I've been unable to shed these last stubborn 10 lbs or so. I'm also exhausted all of the time and never have energy to work out, so really hoping this helps.

Hmmmm maybe I should go talk to my PCP. I've been very fatigue and I thought I was working too hard or not eating healthy enough. I didn't know all of my symptoms could correlate to pregnancy.

Get some blood work done, I dropped 8 lbs in 8 weeks once I started on my thyroid meds. I havenโ€™t been this weight in 4 years.
