@-Elle,
That doesn't make sense to me. Amy Scumer talks all the time about being fat. Labels don't count if the person claims it as a way to empower themselves.
To use your argument against labels as a way to avoid seeing people for who they are and addressing their concerns and understanding their perspectives...that's just as harmful as someone who uses labels as a weapon.
If the OP wants to talk about her being trans, it makes zero sense for someone to say "HEY! STOP LABELING YOURSELF! I JUST SEE OP!"
If somebody chooses to identify themselves, and you or anyone discriminates, it's more your problem than theirs.
If you were to describe any of those people you listed in your example to someone else - you would use the labels you so despise.

Why can't we just allow her to be who she is--without having to contest it with our own opinions? She opened this thread for us to ask questions from a perspective of a Trans-gendered Female, not for us to tell her why we think her perspective is different than our own. I think this was supposed to be a learning moment for us to know what's like for a Transgender Female, from her point of view, NOT ours.
She's the one who did that though. That fact seemed to fly over your little head.
Not everyone understands and when they were prompted to ask questions BY HER, I might add ... she's the one who flew off the handle, not being able to handle that people don't understand.
she just wanted to be validated without actually hearing the questions she asked for.
How ridiculous of YOU to say: "to tell her why we think her perspective is different than our own" ... when she fucking asked people to speak about her being transgendered.

@LilyPetal,
The OP is a transgender....which means she was not born a woman, but identifies herself as a woman.
She stated herself that she's upfront with all the men that she dates.
She tells them that she is 'transgender'...which implies 'born a man....now living as a woman.'
If she was certain she was 100% woman, she wouldn't feel the need to disclose that to the men that she dates.
I have women refuse to date me simply because I'm a bisexual man. Had I not been upfront about that to begin with.. I put myself in a position to expect retaliation.
Ever seen "Boys don't Cry"?
Yeah.. Best not to hide those facts. Even more so when you're transgender and haven't transitioned.
You put yourself in danger by not doing so.. Especially with the current political culture.click to expand

Good Luck to you. You're beautiful, enjoy being a woman, have fun with it. More power to you.
However,
Don't be so quick to judge or bash other individuals for not sharing in your opinions, even though they have openly expressed in supporting your cause.

Do I support LGBT rights? Yes
Did I vote for Hilary Clinton? Hells to the NO!

Posted by MagicMonaNot all women breed, even if they could. She is more like a post menopausal woman on HRT.
i'm trying to articulate my thoughts without coming across as rude. i believe in people living as they want, but i disagree with "woman" and "man" being used so loosely. in your mind, you are a woman, and i'm not here to tell you how to feel or think. but in my small opinion, men can never really change themselves into women. you don't have a menstrual. you do not have a womb. you cannot give birth. you don't experience a lot of what natural born women go through physically. i'm not saying this in any bad way; i just feel like being a woman is more than a "feeling" and shaping one's body to look the part. you got the opportunity to surpass a lot of what cis females had to endure in order to grow into women. it's kind of hard to accept you as an equal.

I also have to be clear....half of the posts on this thread are invisible to me because I have a lot of these idiots blocked....so my posts stand independent and are not to be mixed with theirs.
We all have soft spots in our psyche. Mine is race. Yours is sexuality. It's important that we respect this in each other and come from a place of empathy in order to find a middle ground.
What you take offense to and what I take offense to might come from different places due to experience but the feelings and emotions are the same.
In no way was I negating your experience or making light of your situation because I know what that feels like. However, your situation is different than other forms of discrimination and has different elements to it. When you compared your struggle to racism...my back arched and I do not apologise for this. If you were offended I would expect you to speak up for yourself as well.

Posted by Fun4LifeThere is. Aren't they called intersex?Posted by EnochtheWiseYet at conception a male/female is created based on X/Y chromosomes, differences in brain function or not, there's a predisposition to one or the other sex. The miracle is, there's never a half male/half female born. Why attempt to genetically engineer a human being some 20 years after birth? It's way beyond our present capabilities to attempt to do so.Posted by P-AngelFor those who are actually interested in where some of the latest research in Neuroscience is pointing with regards to male/female difference in brain structure/function:
Neuroscience has identified hundreds of anatomical and chemical differences between the male and female brains.
You're more than welcome to chop off your dick .. but, you're still male.
"Perhaps the mounting evidence that brains canโt be neatly divided into sex-based groups will prompt a game-changing alteration in how we approach this issue.. What is really meant by a 'sex difference'? Taken straightforwardly, one would assume a 'difference' implies the two groups measured are distinct. That the characteristics true of one are almost always not true of the other, that itโs possible to predict characteristics based on sex or vice versa, or that knowing to which group an individual belonged would allow you to reliably predict their performance, responses, abilities and potential. But we now know that this simply doesnโt reflect reality."
http://neurosciencenews.com/male-female-brain-differences-3617/
"Indeed, it is assumed that the male and the female brains are very different because males and female behaviors differ so significantly. But over the last few decades, neuroscientists have been looking for major anatomical differences and did not find that many. Actually, they've found surprisingly few differences...."
