Mo don’t go
Just say due to your moms health you don’t want to risk it. Then send her a gift
It’s a valid concern, I’m sure your cousin will understand.
Your aunt will have to suck it up. 🤷♀️
No fucking way. Send a nice gift and don't play with your life.
Don't go then.
All things dealing with Covid are understandable, people draw lines in the sand when it comes to being vaccinated vs unvaccinated. They will most likely be fine with it.
I am crazy-protective of my mom who is also pre-diabetic. Luckily she takes all the precautions that she can so I don't have to worry much, but I don't care who I have to piss off to make sure she's safe. I think life and death overrides any "rudeness" and "hurt feelings" that arise from those decisions.
It’s extremely reasonable to not go. Especially for the sake of protecting your mom from any risks. I wouldn’t even think twice. And I’m sure your cousin would completely understand due to acknowledging his family’s carelessness. I don’t get how you think it would be selfish not to go…
Careless relatives like that would be considered dead to me.
I mean vaccines are not protecting anyone from getting so it’s a non issue vaccine non vaccine
But u risking expose n bring it to your mom is a valid concern

False. I’ve firsthand seen high risk people with boosters not catch covid or be asymptomatic when the rest of their healthy, young unboosted family members got symptoms. Viral load is a huge factor in how bad you catch covid and if your body’s vaccine is helping the immune system kill off small viral loads before they accumulate to get significant enough to spread (what’s happening inside the unvaccinated as the body doesn’t recognize the virus) then vaccines are definitely working to decrease spread at some degree. Meaning situations would definitely be more worse than they currently are now without vaccines.
So I got an invitation because my cousin is getting married in 3 months.
I think it will be a small wedding with just family and close friend’s of the bride and groom.
The problem is that my aunt (the groom’s mom) is not vaccinated and doesn’t believe in the vaccine. As a result, other family members are not vaccinated either, like the groom’s sister. The groom though is vaccinated and apparently he’s mad at my aunt because she’s stubborn about getting the vaccine.
My mom doesn’t want to go to the wedding because of this reason and because she’s pre diabetic and had minor heart problems in the past. I feel like I shouldn’t go either because I could put my mom at risk. She’s 65 years old. Are we bad/selfish for declining the invitation?
I feel bad for my cousin. It’s not his fault that his mom only thinks about herself. I am planning on sending a nice gift though. I just wanted to hear your thoughts because I’m sure my aunt won’t be happy that we’re not attending. I even heard that she has lost a lot of friendships too. How bad is it to decline during the pandemic?
No, I don't think you're selfish or bad for wanting to protect yourself and your mother. I would hope your family would understand that, even if they view the vaccine differently. If nothing else, why not ask someone to stream it so you and your mother can still kind of participate??
No, it is not.
Do what your gut feeling tells you

Sorry but stats are showing a lot of breakthrough infections equally
The difference is helping u from not being hospitalized

Back up your words with actual research. It’s nowhere near equal.
“A study in Washington state gathered data from over 4 million fully vaccinated people. The data showed a rate of about 1 in 5,000 experienced a breakthrough infection between January 17 and August 21, 2021. More recently, some populations have shown breakthrough infection rates of approximately 1 in 100 fully vaccinated people.”
OF COURSE there’s going to be a significant increase in breakthrough infections with time as immunity from vaccines wane. They’re not designed to last for years lol.. Yes, thankfully majority of deaths and hospitalizations are kept within the unvaccinated/covid deniers. People need to see the consequences. Where were these people when they been releasing the flu shot every damn year that only has 40-60% efficacy? Without vaccines protecting people to some degree do you know how fucking poor the average person’s health and diet is? Most people have vitamin deficiencies that affect the immune system. Science can only protect someone for so long if they don’t take care of themselves on a regular basis to begin with.
No, it's selfish of them to expect you to come.
Let's face it, we're almost at the peak of the omicron wave. You're not selfish because other people dont take precautions and don't adhere to science.

Ironically i know approx 50 none jabbed people and only one of them had Covid...a lady in her 70s, she tells me that her symptoms were mild and her doc puts it down to her strong immune system due to her vit d intake.
I also know of a lot of people vaxxed who have caught it and been quite sick. Having said that, not all of them take care of their Health...overweight, bad diets, smoking etc. I don’t think some people realise that the vaxx wont necessarily protect you if you’re unhealthy. A lot of the unjabbed people I know are health conscious.
