You haven't even heard the speech, so you don't even know what "truth" you speak of.
What is relevant, however, is that people who are actually qualified to speak on matters of politicians or public policy are largely ignored, but as soon as Meryl Streep recites a speech written for her by a speech writer or publicist, the country has a collective brain fart.
Based on FB posts in my feed, half the country is ready to elect Streep to be President, even though she's probably less qualified than Trump (if that's possible).
That is the issue...The American fascination with celebrities and this idea that they somehow have a clue about anything except bitching about the on-set catering and the cost of their cocaine.

You may think you are very mature and realistic because your opinions are just a negative thinking about what a "majority" supports; but intelligence or truth has nothing to do to accept things as they are without fighting or saying things in a rude manner.
Intelligence is about knowledge and analyzing things in a non biased way.
I agree on what Meryl says, Idk if she's an egomaniac, i will never know, and i don't care. Trump has proven he's stupid, he's just a puppet of his communication agents (like [all] politics), but as Meryl says his public interventions have given many stupid ppl a validation for doing subnormal things, and that is not a joke.

Just because they validate your feelings don't make them true.
They are "IN TOUCH" with what you think is important. Again Trump won the election because he largely ignored the rest of American other then democratic strong holds. He pushed race conflicts... and other left democrats are now pushing to destabilize the US. The funny thing is if there was a riot... and the US was destabilized right now... Even more so with where all the money is at in stocks democrats would be the people hurt most. I think personally this is the goal of guys like George Soros... funding demonstration...
In fact, many celebrities use the money they earn to aid causes that are very much IN TOUCH with real world problems.

If anything, seeing someone like Trump make it to office like he did, just further proves Hare's point. People are way too willing to vote in those who validate their own feelings.
In his case, it was a bit of that, plus the fact that people were also voting Trump because they didn't want the devil incarnate in office.

I completely agree LillyPetal. I too very much enjoyed Meryl Streep's speech particularly that last part when she quoted Carrie Fisher and said she once told her "take your broken heart, make it into art"…What a lovely quote.
Her being a celebrity does not negate the fact that before anything she's a human being, one who casts her vote like every other American and therefore she is as entitled as any of us to voice her opinions and political views, to think otherwise is completely hypocritical. Her using her platform as an actress of her stature is nothing but commendable in my opinion. It's so disappointing to witness celebrities and other public figures stay silent in the midst of injustice when they know the magnitude of their influence yet choose not to utilize it to make positive changes, it's shameful really. Good for Meryl for not just wanting to be remembered as a pretty face on a screen but as the whole person she is complete with opinions and ideas like everyone else.
