My aqua friend does this.She likes to lurk and secretly hate. She won't like anything but be like " oh i saw what you posted". I'm like ok cool that's what the like button is for.
Exactly I know it's petty but she knows what's she doing. She's one of those fake name brand having superficial competive for likes girl and I've caught her lying and Called her out lol at her job actually she sold me a car and I caught her lying about the deal and took it straight to her manager. I don't think she's ever been caught like that because she uses her charm. She was in shock and caught red handed so I deleted her and she adds me a year later and is now doing this lol

Okay, I'll explain this from the perspective of someone who has bunch of acquaintances on her FB and I don't like half of the nonsense I see.
I'm very particular about what I like. I'm not someone who goes on "liking" spree and likes just about anything nor am I into pity likes (liking something because someone didn't get that many likes on their posts). I also don't like things just because we are close friends. If I truly like something, I will like it.
I will add people that are just acquaintances because I know them or have known them. I don't care to stalk them and nor did I add them with the intention of liking their posts.

I'm in a weird situation like that. My best friend from Knd, yes Knd, unfollowed me on Ig. I want to unfollow too, but I don't want her to know that I cared that much lol. I think it's sad that people are willing to give up REAL friendships for a high number of followers, whom are people they don't even know in real life.
I also had a friend from elementary and middle school follow me this past weekend. I liked maybe 3 of her photos, she didn't even like 1 of mine lol. Social media is a weird place to me.

I blocked my cousin when she was disrespectful of my account/privacy.
She knows I'm a freak about that shit.
I believe she even got my other cousin (in Australia) to send me a request,
just to see what was up-- she was astonished that she was blocked.
I ignored them both.
It's *my* account that I use exclusively for *my* convenience, and tbh,
it's more of a nuisance than anything.

That's one thing I hate about Facebook is the misunderstandings and unnecessary drama that it creates.
My aunt (who is my mother's age) got mad at me once because I didn't post a happy birthday message on her wall. Forget that I did it in person, she wanted the public wish. To get me back, she unfriended me. It backfired though because I didn't notice until several months later when I tried to include her in a group private message invitation. I really had no idea why she was upset. I just called her and said "really?"
She pretended to be my friend at a family gathering but was like omg you're so pretty wish you would leave all valley girl and she's all over Facebook w snapchat puppy filters

Simply put, they add you to spy on you and tell everyone who cares to listen about your life updates and they scrounge together personal information by way of seeing what you comment on to other people, or by reading through your own comments. A lot of my Facebook friends are single mothers or stay at home moms who don't do shit all day. So they literally see everything on there.My favorite part is when people add me, and I think they are cool (but not close), and then I later hear that they are talking shit about me about something I said or posted because like someone else said, they read EVERYTHING, but comment or like nothing.
