I'm still excited and I have all the feels.

Sitting in my 2nd viewing and there was a line gathering at 9am in the morning.

I haven't felt this much excitement over a movie in years.

So excited for all the African themed

So excited for all the black women

The antagonist of the movie

The hell handsome black men

The intelligent new black Disney Princess

I feel so left out of the loop since everyone is talking about it and it broke records at the book office.

I need to watch it.

But I haven't been to the movies since my teens.

This is me. I'm so out of the loop. I don't own a television, so I haven't seen any previews, if there were any, and I haven't been to the movies in close to 15yrs.

I got slightly teary eyed when I saw how well it's doing at the box office though. amazing!

just saw it and I was mildly disappointed. While I love the wakanda setting and find it filled with potential, the movie itself is mostly exposition, and showing off of all the wakanda wonders, and very little actual story.

The meager story is disappointing, the villain is mediocre, and the political commentaries of the movie are naive at best. The ending LOTR- style battle was not very good and everything felt rushed.

At the end of the movie the wakandans are doing everything wrong with revealing wakanda.

I mean if this was real life, the white man would manage to steal all that vibranium in less than a few years and the CIA would already be brewing a fake revolution there. They should have killed the CIA guy since the begining.

It's not the worst marvel movie, I'd rank it in the top 5 probably, and black panther is still one of my favorite characters, but this movie should have been more than that.

I think it will get to that level in its sequel but what I loved the most was that it was about “thy brethren” and “brotherhood”, helping each other vs tearing each other apart and being divided. I’m going to see it again.

Jesus fucking christ. Marvel comics created Black Panther way before the 2009 takeover. Ffs. It was created in 1966. Just because they made realized the film doesn't make her a disney princess. Moana a disney princess, Tiana is a disney princess because disney created the character. Even the character shuri was created before the takeover.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shuri_(comics)

The character was created by writer Reginald Hudlin and artist John Romita, Jr., first appearing in Black Panther vol. 4 #2 (May 2005).

spoiler alert

michael b jordan was the real black panther IMO

Yes.

Killmonger was the definition of an antagonist

Yes he was a cultural destroyer

Sad because i felt his pain

But he used it to harm the traditions of Wakanda

we went to see it after the birthday party last night.

and omg. i was so sad about him being abandoned just like his father.

but i thought, he was kind of bad..really bad. there are lines he crossed.

i would have liked to have a happy disney ending where he and his cousin are embraced and family are re-united and not severed.

although, killmonger crossed the line, in some parts of the film, him killing his girlfriend who took a risk.

but his girlfriend was a bad girl too.

he harmed alot of people, and he had no love left. a man without a nation.

Best article I've read on Killmonger. FYI it contains spoilers. So I am just going to include an excerpt for those who havent seen it yet.

https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2018/02/black-panther-erik-killmonger/553805/

Killmonger...has changed Wakanda forever, ended the isolationism that defined its existence for all time, and unleashed a powerful new ally to oppressed black people all over the world. Is this inadequate? Too little, too late? Maybe. But it is folly to think that Killmonger’s preferred plan of Wakandan world hegemony through massive bloodshed, using a method that has never once worked as intended, is a preferable outcome.

Killmonger’s ascension is the event that catalyzes Wakanda’s redemption from its greatest failure...

wow that's awesome.

he was the one who broke all the rules, like his father before him...

all because of the ancestors who turned their backs on him.

i agree with the black panther that it was NOT right to abandon the child and left the father to die in that world. Not bringing him back to bury him. That was a cowardly act.

from that cowardly act, it brought destruction.

I'm sorry...the movie almost made me cry. Finally a film that presents us and our nobler selves...and it was good. Audience clapped...including white people lol.

The Boy cries at movies. There! I said it!!! Like... not crying crying, but I’ll be sitting next to him and hear him stifle it. This was one of those movies.

Me as well. The scene where Killmonger’s talking to his dad got to me. Being lost or maybe it’s them that’s lost... The whole movie (the clothes, the chants, the deep pride in their identity) came together and hit me in a way I didn’t expect.

It’s one thing to know African Americans lack that sense of identity due to slavery, but it’s another to really think about it. To realize that having the ability to trace my ancestry is a privilege. Black Panther had me having epiphanies! 😄

@DMV... I’m being petty when I say this, but you know Michael B Jordan is an Aqua 😂😒

But dang he’s soooo sexy even if I were blind I’d be attracted to him. 🔥 them lips with the golds at the bottom of his teeth... pretty deep brown skin.... (sorry I don’t think I ever been THAT attracted to a person.... forgive me).
