is there any right or wrong answer?

I want to keep in contact with an ex
my boyfriend will not "allow" it
even though i no it would b detrimental to my wonderful relationship im tempted through sheer wanting to be in charge of my own life. and i always do the thing i shouldnt anyway its typical me. does anybody know is there a right or wrong answer to this?

You will spoil your "wonderful" relationship, your bf will feel betrayed, your ex will use you for his needs and then send you the way of the candry wrap. If that suits you then perhaps it's right for you, even if it's wrong to your significant -or insignificant, since he doesn't seem to have much input- other.

So basically ur saying its wrong I guess I just don't understand why having a conversation is such a betrayal since that's all it would be dont really understand how it's fair that I'm being forbidden to speak to someone that's all but thanks for ur opinion

It's wrong because your current partner says it bothers him. If he is important to you and keeping your "wonderful" relationship is important to you, you might want to be thoughtful about things that might make that go sour.

If you do it behind his back it will be betraying his trust.

Lastly, if your ex is really buried in the past, why do you want him to form a part of your present?

I do wonder myself why I do want this Person as part of my life too! Sentimentality! I won't go behind my boyfriends back to do it but am wondering should I put up a fight? I understand it's about respecting his wishes but I do find that controlling as he also has an ex who he keeps in regular contact with and it's not exactly my favourite thig but I back off and let him deal with her however he sees fit! I don't understand the telling someone not to do something! Does that not almost always result in the opposite in most cases?!

Do You tell him to stop talking to his ex? If it bothers you then do so. If he then gets all hypocritical about it then tell him to sod off and talk to ur ex too. He communicated his boundary so....

Gnna have to deal with it I guess.

Thanks everyone for yer help the infuriating bit is I didn't feel one hundred about him talking to her but I thought I should relax, trust him and let him be him and when I ask for the same he can't seem to do it for me!! He would probably drop talking to her in a heartbeat if I demanded it though so I guess I'll have to just do what he asks!!! I can totally relate to the feeling of always wanting to do the opposite of what someone says!!!thanks again.

So ..... this being important him didn't phase you, according to the OP and you were going to be adamant on doing what you want regardless of his desires ... him being the one you are suppose to care about.

But, complete strangers on a forum to whom you have zero connection with ... turned the light bulb off in your head.

Here's the truth of the matter which is obvious if inbetween the lines is comprehended .....


Your boyfriend talks to an ex ... and you cannot stand it, so you want to talk to one of your exes to give him a taste of his own medicine.

You would attempt to make it sound like it's because you enjoy conversations with the ex ... when it's really about revenge because you can't handle your own feelings of insecurity that he talks to an ex.
