The reality is people have been getting beaten, stabbed, burned, and yes killed at these types of rallies for years. It's nothing new.

It's not a rally. It's white supremacy and nazism. Why is that ok all of a sudden. Why is this a let's clump it up with other things situation? Didn't we fight nazis in a world war? Did we boost nationalism based on anti nazi views? Weren't we always taught that hate groups like nazis are bad? What if isis supporters flooded the streets, would that be clumped in to the same mode of people have been stabbing burning and killed people at rallies? None of this should be taken lightly
It's not okay all of a sudden. It never has been. Klan/ WS/WN rallies and demonstrations have been going under every single president that has held office since you've been alive and people have been injured and killed at them. No one demanded any of those presidents make statements condemning those rallies either. This is nothing new.

I agree that this isn't anything new but I feel that the reason other President's weren't asked for their statements was because, most provided, when it was something this grievous and playing out on the news and also we never doubted where they stand. I truly wonder where Trump stands, ppl with dignity dont court David Duke and he does, makes me wonder about his true feelings. This was an easy win for him, but he couldn't bring himself to do it...

Most presidents did not release statements because it only helped to further legitimise the voice of those groups.

In a sense they are like DXP trolls in that the more negative attention you give them the more entrenched and validated they become in their beliefs. The object was to marginalise them and deny them a platform.

Trump didn't condemn them because for him it's not politically convenient to do so, and of course he should be held accountable for that.

But at the same time it was more than politically convenient for the Democrats and the media on the other side to jump right into the shit pile and demand Trump deviate from the normal way of handling these types of things.

This is business as usual for the WS movement and we have two different sides using it as a political game piece whipping everyone up into frothing at the mouth.

The outrage machine keeps rolling on.

I disagree with the previous presidents didnt make statements, perhaps not at events but they did during their campaigns and during their presidencies.

Reagan said on May 1, 1984:

President Reagan, saying he had ''no tolerance'' for what the Ku Klux Klan represented, today repudiated the group's endorsement.

President Bush Senior: well there are soooo many times he took a strong public stance against David Duke and the KKK that, it would be silly to copy and paste them all. That man whether you agree with his politics or not, that man has dignity.

I can keep googling but really to me, it comes down to whether I agreed with their politics or not, I knew where they stood, long before violence errupted. Trump has had many an opportunity to distance himself from the underbelly of our society but has chosen not to, or if he does, he then changes his mind in another tweet or press conference 2 hours later. And in my opinion, because he has chosen not to take a hard line against them, they have been given a platform to speak their vile rhetoric, so now he had to take a hard line, in which he waffled and gave multiple statements that contradicted each other.

I do agree that this is being used as political gain and the media is insane and that makes things explosive.

They responded to David Duke because at the time he was active in politics. They don't respond to individual rallies. We had one here during the Obama administration and there was no response. And if there was, it wasn't nationally disseminated.

They came out against the KKK, yes Bush Sr. made many a statement about David Duke and his political run but their feelings were clear, White Supremacy is bad and because of that they didn't have to make political statements because of these rallys, we knew what they thought.

You are so hot to me, right now!

Tbh I think these rebellions still would've happened if Hillary was elected prez, probably on an even larger scale as an act of defiance. When you have that much hate in your heart, it escalates even more when you feel like it's you against the machine.

But idk, I just woke up and haven't had enough caffeine to connect all my viewpoints/thoughts on this.

I have no issues with people protesting. I do have an issue with said protesting affecting my life. Don't push that crap off on me.

If the justice system fails me, I'll do what I think is necessary personally. I won't take my aggression out on the masses

...good for you. But you don't get to dictate gow other grieving parents deal with the police murdering their kids and the justice system failing them.

It's funny because you do the same. Because I don't share your views, mine are not relevant. Isn't that called ignorance and vanity to dismiss another's views based on your own?
You don't share my views?

Image Not Found

Which one?

That the police shouldn't murder people

That Nazis are bad

That the KKK sucks ass

If you don't share these views your an asshole....

I share all your views, except the way they are expressed
You dont like the way I express them.... Image Not Found

So... You would have me politely request not to be hung by the KKK......

Makes good sense there buddy...

Last recorded lynching by the kkk was before you were born. I think you're safe
And yet they are still out here running people over with cars (in 2017) and beating people... So NO I DONT THINK SO..
I'm more scared of BLM. They have hurt more people in the last year than any other organization combined in the past 30

....

Your racist aren't you? Like it just hit me.... Your not dumb... Your racist....It's not because you don't like or even understand BLM... It's cause you REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGED what's happening the KKK had a rally and you can't even acknowledged that their wrong... Thanks for helping see you clearly. We are done talk no need to quote me back... Every response now will be in Spanish... Since I know you will just love that...

Lmfao im a little upset after reading this thread it took you that many replies to realize his ass is racist

The moment he mentioned blm he sounded like all the cry baby bitches in VA defending their white blood line

I do not agree with everything blm says or does.

However if any white person who supports any terroist group here in America thinks we are back in slavery and jim crow era

I as a person of color would gladly let them know I ain't having that shit.

Conservative Right is okay with KKK as long as they continue preaching Christianity. But ISIS preaching Islam is a no go..

Bomb those fuckers and shoot them dead in the street (which would literally happen if a Muslim man carried an ISIS flag down a street in America).

It wasn't any secret. Trump was an open book from the early days of his campaign. Everyone had plenty of time to take a good long look at who and what he is, for all relevant purposes. Those who voted for him simply didn't care enough about the things you mention. They could have chosen something like a "thanks but no thanks, we'd rather look to someone else to address our concerns; this is unacceptable, no matter what else you're promising" approach, but they didn't.

This isn't a criticism, it's just what happened. Priorities.

Trump isn't really the problem. It's the culture, attitudes and beliefs that put him there. And the fact that on election day everyone is allowed to vote any way they see fit, including those who should really stay home. But if pressed, most of these folks are convinced they absolutely did the right thing and would stick to it, and they wouldn't be alone. That's democracy for ya. It's as much a hotbed for demagoguery and general tyranny as it is for what is supposed to be (ideally) fair representation.

It all comes to down to values, and how they're put to work. It all starts at home, what children are taught at the dinner table.
I had this discussion, particularly the bold, with several persons this month. All of what has transpired, I foresaw and expressed in our DXP election threads.

The part that people need to realize is the "anti-government" aspect and what that truly means. It's not all race or Trump. Trump is a symbol. If you're anti-government. He's your guy. He knows nothing about nothing. The destruction of US government and all things included is the goal, big picture.

We need to delve into this subculture, get into their heads. One thing I never liked are the people who hide it. If you have to hide it, mask it, you know it's probably wrong.

Edit: And, I find it interesting that this "ant-government" anarchists, faction calls themselves "nationalists."

The difference is the BLM movement came out and condemned the actions of violence and looting done. When you have a large gathering of angry people that mob mentality can take hold. BLM came forward and made it clear that's not what they stand for.

But it took 2 days for our president to come forward about these neo nazi/kkk. Two whole days!!! All he needed to say was "America good, Nazi's bad". It took him TWO WHOLE DAYS to address this fuckery. What bullshit.
Who cares how long it took. He's not on YOUR timeline
When shit like this goes down a country looks to its president for guidance. The whole world is watching.

His excuse for not making a statement. "I wanted all the facts first". This from the guy who still claims he had a 'massive' inaugural turnout.

He didn't even condemn them really. He defended them! After all guys, they had a permit so...
Wtf is the problem? You sit here and say whatever you like and disagree with whatever fallout happens.

This shit that's happening is no different. Let the assholes say what they have to say and call them an idiot. JFC. What's the problem? Gays, Lesbians and everyone else gets to be heard. Those fuckers have their rights same as anyone. It's their rights for living here.
You okay with an ISIS member walking down your street with a flag and preaching Islam?

Now that our streets are filled with raging nazis and white nationalists openly claiming to be the superior race and emphatically reiterating that they must take America back they must make America great one must ask all of you trump supporters, did you honestly didn't see this coming? Did you honestly believe that all of this open hatred was not going to happen from a president who's party once had affiliations with David Duke? Who on his cabinet had Steve Bannon? I mean, are you complicit with white tiki rage? Was this worth your votes? Are YOU the one feeling threatened because you might become a minority in may ways?

Your president couldn't out and out condemn the kkk and white nationalists without trying to include everyone, on a podium made for just those specific attacks at that specific moment. He walked away not once but twice when reporters asked him if he condemns all kkk and white nationalist neo nazis. This is your leader? This the guy you guys said to give a chance? Ego isn't such a great thing if and when it swallow you whole.
Across the nation there are (approximately) - 99 neo-Nazi groups, 130 outposts of the Ku Klux Klan, 43 neo-Confederate groups, 78 racist skinhead groups and 100 white nationalist groups. That is a bit; however, they only estimate the population to be ~ 0.003% of the US (or 9,693 people)

The last Official Bureau of Justice Statistics Report show's 14,100 less inmates than the preceding year. We have the room. They besta just not get crazy.

Didn't this all start over a fkn statue or something? I seen Ignorance & 'The South' in the same headline so I haven't been paying too much attention. I don't have that kind of time in my life to pay attention every time white folk in The South act a fool.
quite. certain parts of arkansas still have kkk followings per my so but i never saw one growing up where i did. i was always taught equality tho. which wasnt hard considering we were hispanic children adopted to a good caucasian family. i just see it as we are all american. i wish some people would get out of the stone age but there isnt much progression where people are ok with how things are... freedom of speech grants them this right like everyone else and so i think it makes it hard to condemn someone rights as an american, even if they are acting a fool. it just fuels an already racially charged situation. if we could just evolve past this one issue, think of where we could be...

There are at least 3 fairly large communities within 20 minutes of Indianapolis where unless you are Klan or at least a tacit Klan supporter, you just don't go there even if you're white.
They're planing marches in communities where there no kkk presence tho. NYC, Atlanta, some cities in cali. That's not normal. What you're saying about them doing it in their area is normal. I understand that. This what they're doing now, isn't. And there a lot of college students who have tagged along. That's not normal.

It might not be common, but it's not unheard of.

People were injured at a Klan counterprotest in Anaheim either last year or the year before.

I'm not ready to place the full blame on Trump just yet. I DO believe he might be accelerating a trend that might have already in place and inevitable. The hate people let ferment inside of them because we had a black man with a foreign name is the catalyst for this.

I dunno something is def. Different... I didn't even know the KKK was still around. Till about 3 years ago and I'm in Tn where the KKK was supposedly founded...and even then you thought it was just two old snaggle tooth guys or something... The first time I have ever seen a KKK rally was 2016 the night before the election. This is not all trumps fault and they have been around for ever... But he does have a white supremacist in the white house (Steve bannon) he does have the grand wizard support David Duke himself... he has to be a leader for EVERYONE and people aren't so sure he knows that... That's why we need him to condemn them... It's not hard...

Nazi=bad

A lot of people feel the same way. In my head the kkk is some backwater old ass white dudes. But then you see this rally and are like DAMN there is some fresh young blood they got.

I'm all for them exposing themselves like this though. The only reason they've had so much power is because they've kept their members identities secret. Police, politicians, your kids third grade teacher...they are hiding in plain sight.

Them feeling emboldened to take off the hood and walk the streets in daylight is what's gonna destroy them once and for all. And I'm all for it.
The whole secret identity thing is mostly incorrect.

Klan members tend to congregate in like minded communities and they have no qualms about everyone knowing.

Kinda like BLM in the streets burning everything in sight?

The issue with so many people is that they feel threatened by every little thing.

When I was in Afghanistan, if I'd have shot everyone that looked like an enemy, everyone would have died, including innocents. They were all Muslim. I had to be ok with that. The problem with this generation, is they feel like everyone has to be just like them, share their same values and be just like everyone else.

"freedom of speech grants them this right like everyone else"

This right doesn't extend to libel, slander, obscenity, "true threats," or speech that incites imminent violence or law-breaking. So... even freedom of speech comes with terms & conditions.
not with tiki torches, guns, helmets, shields, pepper spray and sticks and other weapons ?

haha.

Well, let that be a lesson to them! Get those permits in advance. Including designated parking, because apparently some individuals have to be told they can't park on top of other people. That's just bad PR.

this is my home town dude - I just don't understand it all yet - they came wearing fatigues, helmets, carrying huge guns and other weapons, shields, pepper spray, torches, spewing gestures and offensive remarks ... oh yeah and the far left so to speak - they were armed with sandwiches and coffee and their phones for pictures - where were the police to surround these armed people in a public place ... all in the name of a rally to protest the removal of a statue SMDH

Okay so you all can at least see how the anti racists started the riot by destroying government property and our nations history right?

What government property was destroyed in Charlottesville?

"freedom of speech grants them this right like everyone else"

This right doesn't extend to libel, slander, obscenity, "true threats," or speech that incites imminent violence or law-breaking. So... even freedom of speech comes with terms & conditions.

very true. they are using this emotionally charged time to their advantage and some of that energy could be redirected if trump would remind people of this.

Has it been to this magnitude? Where minorities are now feeling it? I don't remember rallies in numbers such as this in quite a while. Rallies like this with such vigor. They're setting up rallies now in every major city. Don't think we've seen something like this from the kkk and neo nazis in quite some time

Honey, they're usually fucked up like this. The only reason you're hearing about it like this is because it serves a narrative to the media. They're making it sound like it's crazier than the past because they're covering it more obsessively to push their own narrative/agenda.

This is just more pitting of the middle and lower classes on eachother. You, and everyone else, are just too stupid to see it. Too focused on things that aren't truly the root cause.

The white assholes and the blm are both pretty fucking guilty here. Both are run by racist assholes.

Everyone's acting a fool because they've all been brainwashed into complacent stupidity. Just a bunch of people throwing tantrums because their fweewings are hurt because the world doesn't agree with their speshul snowflake attitude in life.

It's no coincidence that "racism" is making a huge "comeback."

Section 18.2-287.4 of the Virginia Code outlines the general prohibitions regarding openly carrying a firearm. The section prevents individuals from openly carrying three types of loaded weapons. The first two weapons are semi-automatic center-fire rifles, which include assault rifles, and semi-automatic pistols that are equipped with a magazine that will hold more than 20 rounds, can accommodate a silencer, or are equipped with a folding stock. Thus, Virginians are able to openly carry semi-automatic pistols and rifles as long as they do not meet one of the three above-mentioned restrictions. Section 18.2-287.4 also prohibits openly carrying shotguns with a magazine that can hold more than seven rounds. Therefore, Virginians can openly carry shotguns with this one exception.

Also, it would seem that the city has no ordinance against bearing torches in public.

Unless the officers are well versed in their legal code to find way to close the loophole... without cause to act... all they could do is watch. (Initially; that is)

In response to Trump "taking too long" to respond, if I recall, I do remember Obama taking his time responding to something traumatizing that happened. I don't remember what- could have been a shooting or something related to the BLM (seriously no idea though), and people were making the same shit comments about how he took so long. He also said he wanted to get all the facts before making a statement.

The only reason it's so ironic with Trump is that not getting all the facts first hasn't stopped him before from making statements, so lol. As per usual, he's just a walking contradiction.

Under the 2001 USA Patriot Act, domestic terrorism is defined as "activities that (A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the U.S. or of any state; (B) appear to be intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and (C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S."

Extremists of any kind scare the hell out of me. Get them together in a large group and rile them up and mob mentality takes over. Laws, consequences and basic human decency gets thrown out the window.

When I see a protest, I walk the other way. I have my beliefs but would rather try to make a difference in a more positive way than screaming at people on the streets.

KKK? I'm northern folk. I'm sure they are lurking around but not openly. I have never encountered a white supremacist group. They wouldn't be very well received.

Those old men outside the planned parenthood give me the creeps.

I remember being in NYC about 15 years ago and getting verbally attacked by a group of 5 percenters that were walking around calling all white people the devil.

My point is.....anyone that hates an entire group of people based on race/religion/nationality are most likely not playing with a full deck. They are dangerous. Issuing a permit to assemble is a huge mistake. Fuck laws and rights, nothing good will come out of a group of violent, crazy people marching in the streets.

I just saw a report on the Engish news which stated the USA is still seen as being as racist as it was 50 years ago

Time to move forward ?
i don't believe that.

it is indeed time for some to move forward with the rest of us. i have come across minute racism in my 30 years all over the US with acceptance far out weighing. a lot of people have started opening their eyes and minds. the media makes these few represent the entirety of americans.
