Simply put, there are men and women that get an ego boost from being the one that "took" them. That they were "better" then their partner.
Every person's ego is different. Validation to feed one's ego comes in many forms. Some through wanting to be loved by many, some needing positive affirmations, and some through accomplishments from work. It all ties together, just in different ways.

My Dad (scorp venus btw) had a gf in high school. Ended then he met my mom. 7 years there, divorce. etc etc. Re-married a beautiful mexican woman when I was 10. They became stagnant after 7-8 years. Due to a shitty 1983 Ford Ranger, Dad and I re-unite, he fixes my truck over a few days I introduce him to FB- (found out later) first person he looks up is that girl from highschool.
