Let's also not forget that a lot of the people who advocate for a non-monogamous society simply do it to avoid growing up emotionally themselves, to keep avoiding RESPONSIBILITY in their lives, not because they truly care what's best for society. It gives them a perfect opportunity to keep acting like teenagers their whole lives. With age usually comes wisdom and calmness of spirit. With age people naturally start gravitating more towards stability and peace of mind. Dating multiple people at the same time can be very emotionally, psychologically and physically exhausting (I did it myself, briefly in my late 20s) so even though to each his\her own.. Im not sure it would be a good thing for your well-being, or for the functioning of society.
Are you talking about serial monogamy or polyamory or open relationships?
And how do you know it's a lot of these people?
Personal experience? That's projections and assumptions.
I've always done what felt like love and devotion...
My first serious relationship was a three year open commited relationship. He proposed after three years but, we ended it because I didn't want to move and change schools immediately. No one won my heart over him in those three years.
I could do open today with the right man.
In many ways, I viewed open just as devoted as monogomous. Now, in a 25 year relationship, I can say from experience, it feels the same. I've actually lived both.
In the open-relationship with a Cancer, it's like he slept with other women and still continued to choose me, every damned time... lil ole me... and for three years. Slept with others but wanted to marry me and have kids with me.
With my husband, we were divorced for 4 years - no contact. I almost remarried twice. He dated other women, I'm sure more beautiful than me. I know he dated a wealthy doctor but, he kept wanting me.
Today, if I slept another man in either scenario, I know they wouldn't leave me. The Cancer didn't get crazy when his friends found me attractive, touched me, or wanted to sleep with me. He wanted a foresome one night but it was too many people for me I think...lol. I left buck naked and he came after me buck naked too and comforted me.
My Virgo, Cancer Moon husband is very possesive but told me, he didn't care what I do as long as I bring my ass to the house. As a matter of fact, his words were, "you could be smoking crack in the living room in front of the kids and I would never leave you!" He also says, if you cheat, you're just gonna fuck up his life cause I'm gonna beat him down in your face. With that statement, he showed me he knows my heart and how to tear my heart apart.
So, you know what they say about extremes... my experiences are perfect examples.
Whatever it is a man wants from me, it has to feel natural and uncontrived. For example, a man with low self-esteem wanting an open relationship... I call bullshit cause he's wanting it out of weakness. Likewise, a man wanting monogomy because no one else wants his ass.
Finally, I almost married an impotent man, Leo Sun, Scorpio Moon. I was totally fine as he was sooo sexual. Yes, very sexual. The things he did to me!
Ultimately, these men spoke my love language with megaphones... Gifts and service.
It’s possible with two matured adults.
Im pro-freedom of choice, so if you wanna be non-monogamous, awesome! I dont want the world to be purely monogamous but I also would not want to see a world where non-monogamy is the norm.
When are people going to focus on themselves and let others live their own lives? If people want to be monogamous, fine. If they don't, fine. There is variety in life. Acting like others need to come to realization about your personal choice is totally assinine. Society doesn't move to one thought, one notion, or one way to be. Society is made up of individuals who have right to live as they wish. You expect group thinking when it comes to sex and choosing to settle down? Expand your thought process. Don't be one of those assholes who think your way is the only way.

When are people gonna accept it's idiotic to label and classify sex and relationships? You can't expect everyone to live by your morals.

It's funny though when I am with someone who is accepting of me sleeping with whoever I want, I only want to sleep with that woman.

A lot of people who cheat on their partners go for someone less attractive than the one they are cheating on, apparently something to do with being able to lose them easier if shit hits the fan.
