Activities to Stay Positive and Focused When Single

Many find fulfillment in pursuing hobbies, building friendships, engaging in spiritual practices, and personal growth activities to stay mentally and emotionally balanced while single.

Well, I'll probably be moving for grad school in the next year or two so I'm going to try my hardest (despite my loneliness and need for affection) to stay out of a relationship.

Of course I have friends and my job as well as taking riding lessons to further my career options and volunteering hopefully in the future. Going to church and strengthening my walk with God.

But I'd like to know what everyone else does when they are single to keep their minds off of wanting a significant other

hmmm?

I am complete by myself and really feel no longing or loss otherwise. Things to do while being complete, for me would include;

Backpacking through Europe this summer
Getting a kick*** publisher for my first poetry book
Finishing my masters and getting a Ph.D
Opening my private practice
Starting a literacy center in my community
Getting another yorkie
Finding a better apartment with more floor space to do ballet
Running a half marathon (don't want to seem too ambitious) πŸ™‚
and I completely agree with you about the horses- I need to get back in the saddle! Eventually I want to retire with a horse farm-lol.

Become obsessive in other pursuits.
I personally went numb.

Focus on self, trusting the universe and letting go.
Being busy with grad school or work helps plenty as well πŸ™‚, but sometimes it can make one feel like a socially inept nerd with fewer chances of getting hitched haa.
I'm praying for my candidature this year. I'm gunna need loads of gumption.

Would be fun to do all these things with someone else. Even better if they were my significant other so I knew I could bond with someone who tried some of the things I do.

Things I do/would do:

1) Travel solo/with fam or friends...I try and head out of the country at least once a year, sometimes I sneak in 2 πŸ˜„
2) Photography...god I love it! There's nothing like heading out with camera in hand and no plan in mind, drive til you see something that catches your eye.
3) Take up yoga...planning to do this very soon.
4) Learn French...would love to do this.
5) Take a painting class.
6) Volunteer at a local food pantry or animal shelter.
7) Write a book...something I plan on doing. Not sure what about yet...Lol...I'm hoping for one of those "epiphany" moments.
8) Start my own business...this is in the works.

I've been divorced for 4 years and I will say there's nothing like the feeling of knowing you don't need ANYONE to make you happy and feeling like a complete solo human being capable of anything... It's very empowering πŸ™‚

I wish more females would learn that it's ok to venture out on their own and accomplish everything they wish in life. I have many female friends who sit around and TALK about what they want to do/accomplish and sadly, that's ALL their doing.

More women are becoming independent and learning how to stand on their own sans a man (hehe that rhymed) and are learning that it's ok to be single and they don't NEED a man to complete them.
