Scorpio self esteem..?

Hi,
as a Scorpio Rising I wanted to ask you Sunny Side Scorps if you struggle with self esteem - not openly, obviously, but deep in the shadows...

More particularly I am interested to know: when you like someone romantically, does your self-knowledge sometimes put you off going into something with them because you know what your shadow side is capable of and you feel that you're not good enough for someone 'normal'? I seem to keep coming across Scorps saying I'm too good for them and they seem sincere. Is that what it is? (Like everyone else I'm pretty obviously flawed!)

i will always think i am the better one of all(no matter if the relationship is sexual or it envolves feelings) and they cannot reach my level, maybe i am overly confident but i have always been like that, will not allow anyone to put me down, even if they may be right. when a scorpio says something and they seem serious they mean it, maybe they feel guilty about something....

I KNOW that I am too good for other people. I give a lot of myself to a person IF i VALUE and LOVE them. I am loyal and honest. I would support you no matter what. I will defend you if youre being attacked..etc

But I rarely get this in return. Only good/close friends I have that are also loyal and supportive/caring are Cancerians. Two of my closest friends are Cancers. There is an instinctive understanding between us that goes beyond words and logic...

Its REAL caring and love.

I can instintively tell when someone is being insincere and false. I see through superficiality VERY easily.

Back to your question... I believe that I AM too good for other people. This is why I only allow a very few people into my world - others I see as unworthy so not worth my time or attention.

lol, i tend to always think that they are " a lying toad with stuff to hide", till they prove me wrong, and then we talk differently, it will be very difficult to trust someone, only few people are allowed in my world after i made sure that they are worthy of being there....
if you have said or done something wrong......you're history-this applies to people that are still on trial basis!!!

We disappear because we NEED our space and privacy to digest our thoughts. During this time of retreat, we are THINKING. We cant do that with you/or anyone around.

If he is coming back to you - that is a great sign. He likes you.

I do this with the one I like... I disappear for a while and then always come back to him. HE is the one Im thinking about. Im sure your Scorpio is thinking about you too. Youre letting him come to YOU. Thats good.

....all of this is very true, but i must say......why don't you want to analyze it—i think you just have to analyze the things that matter to you, to make sure they come out right or to make sure that if it is something that can affect you in a negative way(hurt you), you will be aware and prepared!!!!!!
i always tend to analyze....

When he's around me he is very touchy-feely, doesn't *say* things to express his affection but I see it in his eyes. We laugh a lot together - he's the only man I've ever met who can make me laugh so much, and I make him laugh too. He talks about things in the past which made him sad - not a lot of details, just opens the box if you get what I mean... I just let him say what he wants, talk a little then leave the subject there, not prying and not offering solutions.

He's mentioned holidays and we've joked about destinations but again - nothing firm (ahem!). I'm leaving it up to him - and he's more of a spontaneous person so planning isn't likely to be his strong suit I guess.

I'm fine with the 'needing space' thing but it is difficult to know you're on someone's mind and easy to assume you're reading what you WANT to be true into something...

I haven't said a word about my feelings for him (not love, just strong affection which I could see going that way eventually). It's very early days... but nor do I want him to think I don't care. Any ideas? Or should I just keep on keeping on?

So he IS opening up to you. Slowly. He is not going to rush something with a woman that he likes and sees a future with.

For him to even mention sad things from the past is a big step. Some Scorpions never open themselves up fully, not even to our closest friends. This doesnt mean we dont trust you - it means its in our PRIVATE territory where no trespassing is allowed.

Im sure that youve earned his repect for him to come to you and talk/laugh so much. He likes spending time with you which means he feels comfortable with you.

We have VERY FEW people in our lives we are close to or want to grow close to, so I have no doubts in my mind that hes thinking about you. Youre spending time together and enjoying yourselves. He IS thinking of you (but he probably wont let you know that he is).

Like I mentioned before - we speak the language of gestures. He WILL pick up on these subtle gestures/hints that you give out. Eg, a nice look in the eye etc. You dont have to say a word - your actions speak for themselves.

As you say - its early days so just go with the flow for now. Im sure youre doing your own thing - this Shows that you have a life of your own other than him. He'll like this. If he hasnt been in contact for a long while - then you initiate contact - even a quick casual text message. This shows that youre thinking about him.

Honestly, I think if a guy tells you you're too good for him, he probably means, "You're just not my type." At least you know he respects you enough not to try to use you and take advantage of your feelings for him.


If it means anything, I am Scorpio and I do not suffer from self-esteem issues in particular. I am no more insecure than the next person. In fact, I have a solid sense of who I am and my potential. It may not always seem that way to others, b/c I tend to be shy. Reserved at times, but mostly shy.

I agree ScorpSuperior, which is why I've been puzzled. Actually his exact words were more along the lines of, "You need someone who can give you more [time, meals out, etc]" (he doesn't have a lot of money, which again doesn't bother me in the least, but I can see it would possibly have bothered him. We've talked a lot since then though).

More generally then, if Scorpios all have this Dark and Dangerous side yet are compassionate people as well for the most part, doesn't it ever worry you that you might damage people you care about? Or do you rather just think, "We're adults, let 'em take their chance'?

yes, we are very compationate too, but if someone or something hurt us then you see the negative side, obviously, and yes we can hurt the people we care about but the passion that we have inside and the emotions are stronger than us so we just react on the spot, a bit like the survival instinct, it a defense mechanism. we trust the people that we love, so we are sure they will understand our reactions aince it took a lot to get to that point.....

Update - yes, he's back, of course... And whoever wrote (I think on here somewhere) about just learning to enjoy the dance, I believe that's probably right. I know he isn't dancing with anyone else...

Tonight we went as part of a group to a poetry open mike night. I wasn't going to read anything but suddenly I decided to; two poems, one about my passion for life. He said very little whilst we were with the others but ran to catch up with me as I walked to my car and held me close and told me he was proud of me.

My scorp friend seriously believed this. I guess they base that on many things, social circle. How many more languages you can speak than them, income, how world traveled you are... Eduation level. I just tell him those are statistics. A person is their soul and heart, and he should neve think someone is too good for him. He is a great person. I told him a person may not be right for another, but that doesn't always make that person better just different

ScorpAscVirgo, what are you talking about? I do not think , I KNOW we do not struggle with self -esteem. I think that is a personal delimma. Maybe they are sensing that you are a perfectionist and that you want and like to appear perfect. This of course makes the naughty but good scorpio feel judged and misunderstood, especially if your pulling the un evlooved ones, or October ones.. lol Yeah , that sounds like a personal issue, maybe just the people your attracting. Why in the hell would someone say that to you, unless of course,you make them feel that your too good, lol I know what I need to work on relationship wise but it's personal cause it reflects my early experiences. Scorpios can 'taste' people, sometimes even before they meet you in person. So what's the thing with 'October-born' Scorpios? And how does a whole sign get away with having unevolved members..? lol I know the theory, but I can't help thinking it sprang originally from the fact that not everyone fits their sign so Scorpios took it upon themselves to explain why.
