Yes I am obsessed lol
The books are decent as well, I started with those and grew intrigued and did research on names within and stumbled across the show.
The Scottish lore is what drew me in originally.
Anyone else read the books or watch this?

Posted by AndalusiaOhhh I did not know about them casting based upon signs. Starz has back to back episodes of season 3 on right now.. I'm in heaven.Posted by justagirlYASSS!!!

I read the books years ago after find g them in my mom's closet.
The show is really good as well. They even cast leads that have the same zodiac signs as the leads in the books!
Imma huge nerd.click to expand

Posted by justagirlIdk if they did it intentionally or not. But Claire and Jamie are a Libra and Taurus (respectively) in the books. And the actress and actor cast to play them are as well.Posted by AndalusiaOhhh I did not know about them casting based upon signs. Starz has back to back episodes of season 3 on right now.. Posted by AndalusiaOhhh 😲 I will need to look into that. I knew the actor that played Jamie was Taurus and Claire was a leeb, curious on their moons and stuff. The actors do a phenomenal job of portraying the love the characters have for each other.
There's an outlander companion book that was written years ago where Diana Galbaldon answered a bunch of fan questions. One of the questions was from an astrologer asking about their birthdays., and she then drew up charts for them.

Posted by lisabethur8I like Anne Rice too.
lol
it's OK 😛
i had seen it a long while back.
my husband HATES it. (he never watched it but he liked to know what happened and some scenes just annoyed him so he had a PASS) meaning he dont wanna bother.
i just had to find out what happens though. lol
this woman writer is very good at historical background checks and creating a nice world of traveling back and forth in time.
i like Anne Rice's vampire novels, and films when it came out.

Posted by SupesYES!!! I was sad when I went to go watch and it was the back to back episodes for season 3 so far.. I went back and watched most of season 2 instead last night lol
Next best show on TV.
Pisses me off with the 2 week break
Sassinac is BACK!

Posted by DonumDeiugh she does me too from the beginning. she should have stayed with her loyal loving husband.
I’ve only gotten to the point where Jamie...well...how do I put this politely... was taken advantage of!? (Yeah I’ll go with that) by Black Jack and I had it. Now I can’t bring myself back to watching any more of it speacially since Clair is starting to rub me the wrong way! 😕

Posted by lisabethur8Have either of you read the books? That part was done very differently and I hated the TV version. It does get better but season 3 is stalling out imo.Posted by DonumDeiugh she does me too from the beginning. she should have stayed with her loyal loving husband.

but i realize it would be too boring for some people. they need drama and excitment and boring homebody husbands aren't the thing for alot of folks. lol
spoilers...
she went there, to the prison and it was more instigated by her. If she had stayed away he would have just not have to "save" her and therefore, fall victim to his deviousness.click to expand

As for Claire, she does a lot of shit that gets others in trouble or more trouble, even herself before she even knows what has happened.click to expand
Posted by DonumDeiwow youre right!!! lol the sex part is the only thing that kept them going but at least he's faithful and he really loved her alot!! i like that type of man. and he's also adventurous too, i mean if you think about it...he and her travelled over there in a different country to stay in and look up nerdy historical stuff...
@lisabethur8
Yeah...I suppose the storyline needed that fork in the road and the heaviness of Clair’s decision to really propel that what is to come. Besides, I suspected from the outset that her hubby and her didn’t really have much in common other than sex. With Jamie she found some sort of understanding (dare I say even love) that goes beyond physical...but oh well...its all fiction anyhow! ;p
PS: thanks for the spoiler! 😑;p
@justagirl
Regrettably I have not read them but have been eyeing them for a while. In the end I ended up watching the show before tackling the hard copies. Perhaps it’s better this way. At least I still have something to look forward to once I buy them.
How many of them is there, btw? 8?
Posted by DonumDeihe's a good character /plays a very complex role. the disgustingness of his one side, so evil and gross
I also had to add...the actor that plays Frank/Black Jack is playing his heart out in that show. When he can bring me to the point of outrage as Black Jack and evoke sympathy as Frank all in one episode....well...I needn’t say more!

I was kind forced to watch one episode with my mother and one of her friends and, by the gods and I'm sorry, but that hour was probably one of the worst ones I ever had in my life.
This thing reminds of Twilight. Can someone try to explain what it is that is so fascinating about it?

Posted by CancerAquaSagg
Ive Never read the books but I love the series. At first I was like huh not sure I can like this. But now I can't wait for the next season to begin lol.
Do you watch Poldark? These two are currently my favs.
Yeah I love sci fi fantasy period stuff too.
Have you watched 'war and peace'? Lol I'm addicted to these kinda shows.

Posted by Sola
I live in Glasgow and i see it getting filmed all the time 🙂

Posted by justagirl
@canceraquasagg I def recommend reading the books btw, so much better than the show. Also I will create a list of shows later if ya want. I've never watched war and peace I don't think, it's good?

Blasphemy not even on the same level. TBh when I first saw the previews I laughed my ass off for months about time travel and Scottish men and the highlands..
Then I read the books and I was hooked. My preferred genre of books is sci-fi fantasy, so for me I can just immerse myself.
I get the general appeal. I like the Michael Crichton one but this one looked like way too much romance.
Is there anything aside from that. Like politics, war etc. ?click to expand

I am new to Outlander, but have been drowning myself in back to back episodes, as I try to distract myself from my own Broken Heart~! HAHA & I am in awe, so I decided to search here to see what people were saying. This love story feels soo intense to my entire soul...Of COURSE Jamie has a scorpio moon. The passion everyone feels with him ( hehe like me)
The character played Frank did an amazing JOB how did I DESPISE and FAIR Randall but Sympathized with Frank!!
This cannot compare to Twilight!
Im on season 3 Episode 7 and ive been watching for a week now...

the amount of gay people in this show was kinda weird.* i haven't watched it but whenever i would walk by there'd be something weird going on with two men. and then the two main people banging every five seconds.
*before anyone rages at me i'm gay myself but in this kind of show i wasn't expecting it.

You sure you are watching the same show? 1 main character that is gay .. Lord John. whom does get married and has sex with women. But i'd say Gay not Bi- he pretended to be straight. You have to understand that during the era this is based upon- mid 1600's being homosexual was death. Especially within the British military.
Jack Black was a bi sexual deviant but had a masochistic need to dominate and control, or break people. he was just evil. Again a British military officer.
Also in the french courts sexual appetites where hidden but not as much in Britain. The Sun Kings (Louie, the builder of Versailles) brother was very much out in the open about his sexual preference, yet it isn't talked of much.
i watched parts of it. not an entire episode at a time. i will probably ask my mom to watch it with me at some point because i just don't watch tv by myself. what i saw though was really good. the issue i had was that every time i walked past the tv sex was happening. it reminded me of that vampire show with the chick that was banging two vampires (that i didn't watch either, but saw parts of it) the main character appeals to me. the woman. i felt like jamie was too open to suggestion from her. got him in a lot of trouble from what i could see. lolclick to expand

They are about to start season 5 lol
The sex tames down towards the end of season 2 and onward. Jamie is a randy Scottish highlander that was ready to do whatever for the woman he loves with his entire heart & soul. They BOTH get each other into hot water, but yes her morseo than him.
Claire is a strong female lead, however, she does tend to forget she is in 1745 not 1945 lol
the weird part that i actually watched the entire thing of is when he gets... well.. that guy molests him. that was the weirdest shit i've seen on tv in a long time. and then branding himself and cutting it off. and his mental break down over dude. her reaction was good though. but it does make me wonder what the fuck kind of show that is. 😆click to expand

Did they water down the sex because the show got bigger ratings?

Would have been better if it stayed in Scotland. Still watching but it’s really gone down hill in season 3 and 4.

It was really irritating because I would have loved the plot with him and that chick that wanted to lose her virginity but it felt cheap as hell throwing it in there just for filler. I just started season 4 so I don’t know if it comes into the plot later but there was no point to it whatsoever.
Would have made a nice paperback otherwise. 😏click to expand
