It definitely throws my whole shit off. Sometimes I want a girlfriend, sometimes I don’t, sometimes I wanna try an open or polyamorous relationship.

I think tension was the wrong word. Abundance of energy would be more precise I think.
One source I found once pointed out that Mars dominant men withhold a lot of that energy by not being very interested in women and giving them that energy. This in turn puts them under a lot of internal pressure because that energy needs to find a healthy and productive way to be expressed. I think that fit's it quite well.
