I have noticed a lot of people have misinterpreted the meaning of this. This trait is listed on several internet sites and there are a lot of women reading way more into this than what it actually means.

I have noticed a lot of posts by women (and men - but mostly women) are putting up with rude and inconsiderate behavior, allowing themselves to be treated poorly by their aquas because they think the aqua is doing opposite of how he feels.

Obviously, women are using this as an excuse for the behavior. "He treats me like, sh*t, therefore he loves me". "He ignores me for weeks, so he must really be feeling something for me".

In my opinion, this is one of the biggest misconceptions and most misinterpretted trait about you guys.

Would yall please take a moment and explain what "behaving opposite than you feel" means.

My analogy is like the little boy pulling a little girls pigtails. He's teasing her and with her and she thinks he's being mean to her. It's his way of flirting.

I think many women who come to this site for answers would appreciate a whole thread dedicated to this topic.

Thank you guys for complying.

Im not an aqua obviously but there is never an excuse for rude behavior. In my opinion, a man will treat you how you allow yourself to be treated and his actions will show you how he feels about you. If he takes weeks or days to text then what he should receive should be crickets chirping in the far away night.

It's too difficult to explain but maybe I could try.. It's impulsive behavior out of fear that living on the edge thing. Well let me relate a situation so you can understand. Meets nice guy gets comfortable, maybe I shouldn't have, mind starts to wonder I am becoming to dependent on this person. Runs away convincing myself I can do without you (note I have to be really interested or otherwise if I'm running I don't have the slightest of interest in you). Feelings start stirring ugh I don't want to hangout this is too intense to deal with. Why is he staring at me so long and smiling now I am self conscious. What could go right, what could go wrong why do I even bother repeat. I am very expressive and have been told by guys I am violent, I don't think I am in the least I'm very sweet. I tend to punch guys I'm interested in push, punch, or just behave coldly to, stupid I know. However it's not on purpose it's that they provoke me to. If he's teasing me about smiling after a compliment: noticing how my hugs are nice, or he sees I am into him I behave sporadic and not like I intend to. Vulnerability strikes this in me I guess, and when I feel to exposed to someone I tend to avoid them for periods of time. I like to think it distracts them from thinking I was so sensitive to begin with, because now they are wondering how I feel. I don't like to be too predictable or have people get too comfortable with thinking they know/understand me and my emotions.

I actually had a conversation a few weeks back about this and LoP touches on the same thing with the push, punch or just behave coldly......

not sure if it's an Aqua trait but when I like someone it is like the innocent flirting on a playground when a boy or girl likes someone. They tease, pull hair etc...then I have a moment of clarity and realize how childish it is and "grow up" just to do it again...sometimes it is running away, but for me it truly is realizing how it can seem so silly, it makes me pause. I will go quiet and reflect on everything and why I was acting that way (others perceive this as cold).

I wont put up with a guy treating me like dirt. There is a difference between disrespect and the above.

I agree with justagirl as well. Now to the dark side of the spectrum. An aquarius's silence how to determine if it's good or bad.
I obviously listed the good part when an aqua displays silence and push/pull as interpretation of having feelings. Now to the more he's not interested.

I dated an aqua once he was very outgoing bad boy slightly but polite I ignored some signs that I thought well maybe he just needs space. He cheated on me towards the end of our relationship even though he was so called in love with me. A man can't love you anymore than he loves himself, his mother, and his grandmother. If a man is blatantly disrespecting you there is no interest no misconception as to his "feelings are just too strong for me". In that silence he is either deciding what to do with you from there on out or he is outright moving on. And then there are some in the bunch where the man just wants space maybe you are too dependent on him so he wants a break and wont tell you this because he cares about your feelings.
Any questions about behavior message me.

I'm guilty of "play ground rules", if I like someone, I tease them, smack them, come up with random nick names and the like. If I'm caught being "girly" I blush and tell them to shove it. I would go out of my way to do something for them. I try to do something for them every day to get them to smile.

Now, if someone prys into my things, or asks questions that I feel are very private and they shouldn't be asking -- I might be rude about it if they don't let up. If someone doesn't leave me alone or hounds me, pushes me, yes, I'm probably going blow up and be rude because you haven't paid attention or listened.

Then again most of these relationship issues cant be blamed on astrological signs just because that's a cop out excuse he could be having daddy issues that affect his take on relationships. emotionally unavailable or just outright NOT interested.

+1

Adding to that, a guy does not ignore the person he is interested in. Doesn't matter his sign, he just doesn't do that. Stop reading more into something that is just not there, if women see "acting opposite of what he means" on a website and equates that to = he's not responding but I know he loves me and is just acting opposite.....no hunny, he just is not that into you. Harsh but true.

Aquas are pretty blunt and upfront people. Sometimes we will avoid to ease hurting someone, but we do tell you. But YOU have to listen to what we are saying, not what you want to hear.

As for myself, I don't think I act opposite from how I feel. If I'm interesting in someone or like them I'll be good to them. If I'm not interested in someone or don't like them, I'll ignore them. I'm only rude if there's a reason I need to be, if they don't take a hint or they are downright hateful to me. I'm guilty of saying how I feel, being straight forward and I noticed by doing this I tend to piss people off. When I was younger, I use to follow the saying, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. As of now, depending on the situation or who it is, I'll be silent or I'll try to say it in a way that won't hurt their feelings, but make them aware of what they're doing.

I agree with Living On Porpoise, relationship issues can't be blamed or define a relationship, it depends on the individual and their life issues.

I had a guy who ignored me to the t turns out he was interested in me some guys do the push pull tactic but there are ways to distinguish the difference. Nervousness, touchy not grappling though, smiling, flirty with you. The thing is he may also be going through problems, busy with life, etc. Ask and reach out we're pretty blunt people. Some peoples connection are different than others. Just watch the signs.

I'm that type ^ ask me how I feel, how you look, etc and I'll tell you, it takes that much to get a reply. However I will quickly say I miss you, or you're awesome you know that. People even loved ones need to be reminded this but if they wanted me to tell them I spend endless nights thinking of a future together.. well they'll have to ask be a billion questions before I reveal such a thing lol.

I have learned that if you ask an aquarius, you will get the truth, even if its truth you don't want to hear. But I haven't seen too many volunteer to speak out unless they are asked specifically.

This is true, unless I'm pushed to a point. I have two best friends one is a cancer and the other is a leo. When we were younger the cancer would always nit pick the smallest things about someone. it could be hair, shoes, teeth and outfit anything. One night she goes on about me and honestly I don't remember what it was she was saying, but like most people I've reached my breaking point and told her, "You have not right to judge people on ________ when your out with your 80 style poof hair style ". Not my proudest moment, and I felt terrible because of the rest of the night she kept asking people if they thought her hair style looked like a 80's poof. I made her self conscious and took the very thing I admire about her, her self confidence. I apologized and she never mentioned anything about me again. lol.

I agree, I'm all about telling good things to people I care about. I miss you, I like you, love is a little more difficult to say, because I won't say it unless I'm 100% sure I mean it. I'm learning from other signs that sometimes these are only words and actions speak louder. However, for me, words say a lot about a person and how they feel.

Yes, I do find this to be true! My Aqua tends to come in waves. As far as texting, he will sometimes take up to 3 hours to respond. Sometimes he'll not answer at all. I am left frustrated and confused. So a couple times I asked him to call me (when I know he's working or whatever else and for him to call when he is available). And when he does I asked him 'why do you leave my questions hanging in the air like a fart?' I try to make a joke of it. He tells me that he does not mean to ignore, he is just bad with texting (snort) and he would rather talk to me on the phone (me too, definitely, but sometimes it's just not feasible). We're both very busy with work and make as much time for each other as we can, but sometimes when he goes so long without answering and he NEVER is the first to initiate a conversation (sometimes it feels very one sided), my insecurities start creeping back up. He told me the other day, "I wish I could tell you what I'm feeling, but I just don't know."
I do appreciate his candor.
And when we're in the same room at work, he will look at me across the room with those eyes that say more than he ever will. He'll walk by and tug on my sleeve or caress my behind and walk away without a word said. (We are not publicly together at this time. Still feeling each other out.)
He does back out of plans, last minute sometimes, and it is frustrating he will never initiate.

Thank you for this thread!

Here is what I think about Aquarius man

Aquarius Man is very good at communication and very friendly to the point that anyone can think that he's flirting (which he's not). Aquarius man just simply doesn't know how to communicate and flirt with the one he's interested. When he wants attention from the one he likes, he might end up saying something stupid or mean or rude which he might feel regret afterward. Well, he doesn't mean to be rude (definition of "rude" here depends on if the girl takes that too serious). So, that's the reason why aquarius man really needs someone can hold his conversation light and don't be overreact or take thing serious sometimes, which leading to someone that can be his friend. Now, let look at your opposite sex friend and list out all the point of making a friend:
- Never complain that you disappear for days
- Conversation is always light
- never jealous if you talk to other hottie
- Even if you're apart for days, you still care with each other
- more...

And, for the teasing part, here is an example about my situation that how Aquarius man tease the one he likes
- when we're alone or in group of people, he always pick on me by saying thing like "I can't imagine how people can not step on you since you're short".
- the other day, I whinnied about i'm getting old (i'll be 30 in couple of months). And, he said "You're too short to be old". or he said "Old people is shrinking down. If I have to take care you you when you're old, I might need to put you in my pocket to carry you around"...
If you take thing personal, you might think this teasing part is offensive. But, he doesn't really mean that. He just want to make you laugh.

Once, I got hurt and cried about something, or someone. He got freaked out. He actually doesn't know how to handle that. All he can do is that making fun of himself or saying something out of blue just to make me smile.

I hope you guys can understand Aquarius. Please don't think that they act opposite and start to misunderstand them. For me, until now, I still don't know the signal they give out in the way they act. Though, the sure way you can know if they're interested or not is based on whether or not you get their attention, or they finally can't hold their feelings any longer and have to tell you (it will take very long time. Mine was after 1.5 year)
