They say there are 5 but feel free to add your own:

Love language #1: Words of affirmation

Love language #2: Acts of service

Love language #3: Gifts

Love language #4: Quality time

Love language #5: Physical touch

Mine is a combination. Mostly acts of service and buying things into people's hearts 🄰

All of these. I'm trying to be creative in our relationship

Taking the quiz, it was interesting to find out that "your" love language was actually seen as the language your ideal partner should be speaking to you!

This may imply that what you "speak" is what you want to "hear". Is this always the case irl? Mainly the case...? Hmmm...

What if you two are speaking different love languages, but your partner is proficient in your love language, and you in theirs? Shouldn't this be the ideal situation? The quiz is therefore incomplete...

I once found myself speaking a love language I don't use too much, simply because I wanted my partner to use it on me šŸ˜‰

Say if your love language is act of service - you bring him coffee - then his better be a gift - buying you a fur coat for it?

That is ideal ā€˜one speaking - another hearing’ combo.

Can also be affirmation/gift combo as you say I love you - he is buying you a car!

…etc.

But according to the quiz mentioned in his thread, if your love language is acts of service, it means that you want HIM to bring YOU coffee, lol!

I think that is the whole reason for the quiz, basically what you like to have in a partnership.

Mine is touch and QT, but I know that I do acts of service and words of affirmation, followed by the occasional gift, if it's related to a service that is needed.

So I would need a partner who appreciates what I do and does the things that I need in return.

It almost seems like yin and yang/ balance with all five in a relationship split up among a couple.

Something like this, yeah! That's why I called the quizz incomplete, because it only gives one side of it (and not even the side one would expect)!

It was ā€œact of serviceā€ then I read somewhere that your love language can be what you lacked as a child. I don’t know. I’m starting believe love language does not exist unless we all have a primary love language.

maybe this is true coz my parents couldn't attend any of my school-related events, even the ones where i get awards and they were barely home most of the time as well.

I haven't taken the quiz recently but I like when someone shows genuine care, thoughtfulness and that they're thinking about me. I'm not big on words of affirmation because actions mean more than words to me.

I feel receiving gifts is misunderstood. It's not about getting expensive gifts and spoiling someone but if they do buy something, putting effort into it and showing that what they've bought has meaning and that they've put care and thought into it rather than just some pricey item. I rather get something homemade than an expensive gift that has no meaning.
