You can just add lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to normal sping water......does the same thing

I add two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water before each meal. It keeps the body alkaline and also good for weight control

It's been a fad for like ~5 years now. They sell it at specialized water stores, here's some links.

The idea is that the normal diet makes your blood acidic and the water can help

I just bought a bunch by accident.. lol, so I'm sort of upset I spent the $ $ , just wondering if anyone actually drinks it.

Lemon and apple cider vinegar become alkaline once in the body.....even though outside of it they are acidic.......clever hey?

Lots of food like carbs are acidic in nature and fats hold onto acids. There are studies that show some correlation between having higher levels of acidity leading to stroke, heart disease, cancer etc.

Much better to maintain a more alkaline level. I'd suggest taking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with honey in some water every day. More effective and much cheaper than buying alkaline water.

Make sure its organic. Don't drink it straight, could burn your esophagus.

Or you can get the pill form.

*bonus: its an appetite suppressor.

no, but the water they are selling is alkaline, taking water and making it acidic is not the same, when it goes into your body, your body compensates by various ways. the health folks argue that the compensation your body does to make alkaline water into normal pH is healthier for you than what your body does to make acidic water into normal pH.

Lemons have alkalizing effect

when digested inside the body.

Chemistry and science.

http://www.livestrong.com/article/498141-can-adding-lemon-juice-water-make-water-alkaline/

On the pH scale, a score of 7 is considered neutral. Anything measuring 6.9 or below is considered an acid, and anything rating 7.1 and above is considered an alkali. While water has a pH of 7, lemons are acidic, measuring at 2 to 3. The popular belief that lemons become alkaline during digestion isn't upheld by science. Under no circumstances can an acidic food alkalize your blood, said Kat Day, a chemist and science blogger in Oxfordshire, England. Because foods are not known to alter the pH of your blood or body, lemons won't acidify you either. Drinking lemon juice with water may increase the acid level of your urine, however, which is a sign that your kidneys are doing their job -- ridding you of excess acid.

Well? it's REALLY expensive, like $ 1.50 instead of 0. $ 25 here a gallon....Worth it? Is it really healthy at all?

Anyone use it and feel better or anything?

Crazy you mention this. I was just researching this.

Waiting..

If you want to test the lemon/cider vinegar thing, take a sample of your urine and test it with a ph strip.....speaks for itself

the reason why your urine is acidic is because you are adding acid into your system so your body compensates by making your urine acidic, it's expelling what you are adding.

The citric acid in lemons actually has an antacid effect on the stomach, hence why it's used in Alka Seltzer, but your body regulates it's pH balance independent of anything you eat or drink. If your body is swinging one way or the other on the pH scale, then you have serious health problems.

Alka-Seltzer contains three active ingredients; aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) (ASA), sodium bicarbonate, and anhydrous citric acid. The aspirin is a pain reliever and anti-inflammatory, and the sodium bicarbonate and citric acid form an antacid by their effervescent reaction with water.

It's the reaction of an acid + base that allows alka-seltzer to work, citric acid is a weaker acid than the strength of the sodium bicarbonate so that is why it's there, to aid in the reaction, it doesnt magically make it an ant-acid. Also your body regulates pH balance by expelling waste in it's kidneys, in this case, extra acid.

Total scam. People are idiots if they think that they can control the acidity of their own body. The body does it on its own and to think you can consume food that adjusts the alkaline/acidic levels is lol.

Physiology and science. Look it up silly fantasy land dwellers who argue that this bullshit is legit.

You can also drink warm water with a teaspoon of baking soda. It's not very pleasant, but it wards off oncoming colds/viruses because it can't live in an alkaline body. I have had a cold only once in the last 10 years.

A friend of mine takes half a teaspoon of baking soda mixed with the juice of half a lemon and some water every day and her body has a healthy level of acid/alkaline. She never gets sick

Yes you are.

Please tell me how many biology based classes you've taken to back up your claims?

Please link all the scientific journals where you get your information.

I'll wait.

And no, "It works for me" is not a real answer. Just anecdotal evidence. Anecdotal evidence =/= fact or legit information, which is just about anything you tout as "health information" on this site.

Overweight people tend to be at higher risk for diseases because they eat like shit and/or consume too much of these foods that put them at such risk factors.

Drinking stupified water isn't going to fix those problems. It's another fad put out there for the lazy and stupid that don't want to do it the right way.

"Drink the magic water guise. It'll fix everything! After all, YOU know best and your body's physiology doesn't know fuck all about how to work. Do its job for it and fuck yourself up in the process, yay!"

The whole pH balance for inflammation/cancer thing stems from one study that showed that cancer cells couldn't live in an alkaline environment in vitro.

But in vitro is not in situ. In vitro, you can kill cancer cells with all kinds of things. Salt, bleach, hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide, etc. You wouldn't in a million years inject that shit into people in high enough doses to kill cancer cells.

The level of alkalinity needed to kill the cancer cells would cause a great deal of damage to an actual living person since it's outside the range our body needs to function.

The stuff i'm reading says the higher pH is to compensate more for the calcium leeching which occurs when in low pH (which is worse for your bones). The cancer stuff, perhaps but there are better ways to attack cancer anyways.

Yes they do. It's called chemo haha.

But yeah, I lol anytime I see all this "remedy" bullshit touted by anyone who knows fuck all about basic physiology. People are just so arrogant that they think they have to go and do all this shit for their body when the body works in homeostasis. The only time any of this needs help is because there is something obviously wrong somewhere in the body, and then, fairy water isn't going to fix it.

Eat lots of fruits and veggies, moderate carbs, limit bad fats, keep relatively active, and pray your genes aren't assholes.

ok i have to get back to work, lol. i dont mind doing the fads so long as they dont hurt the body. if you have proof of that then please say.

I had a small freckle on my body which developed into what looked like a melanoma. I visited my GP and she told me to stay out of the sun and keep my eye on it to see if it grew. It started to get larger and redder. I mixed some bread soda and virgin olive oil and kept it coated for a couple of weeks

It disappeared

I eat like shit. But I also swim 4-6 miles a week, walk my dog, and haul plants around at the jobsites. But still, if it wasn't for all this physical activity I'd be obese af lol.

My sister is all into health and fitness and she's constantly telling me what I should do differently. If its easy I'll do it. Like having a tablespoon of the apple cider vinegar.
