Stop giving your money to corporations that are profiting by slapping rainbows on their merchandise.

Stop giving your money to corporations that are financing anti lgbtq laws.

For example: the owners of Chick-fil-a are using their profits to fund anti-trans state laws and kill the equality act.

Give your money to small queer businesses. Give your money to transitioning folk.

Support the movement, don't just show up for the parties and parades.

ty for coming to my ted talk.

My good friend's kid recently came out as wanting to transition and I'm absolutely amazed at the support they have gotten from everyone including parents, school and friends. I should add that this is something they have wanted for years and they seem very secure in their desicion. Sooo happy for them!🙂

It's naturally going to take more than this for them to be able to actually do it, which I think is a good thing, generally, but just the fact that they could feel secure enough to express this desire and get that support makes me at least a little hopeful of the human race. I just wish everyone with that same desire was treated that way!

I'll always be thankful that I never grew up in a homophobic household. I know I'm one of the lucky ones.

Omg same.

I also did not grew up in a homophobic environment.

There were very few bullies in school that would tease other gay kids but never dared to mess with me. And that's considering I was skinny, super feminine and flamboyant. People at my school didn't know that I had training in krav maga, brazilian jiu jitsu and muay thai and I think knowing how to fight really gave me the confidence (too much confidence lol) to be myself and I was totally fearless and had a more cutthroat personality back then so I guess the bullies were intimidated.

Even online, I don't think people have ever been openly intolerant of me.

Yeah, I didn't really get picked on that much at school either. At least not that I remember. I like to think that it's because everyone thought I was too cute for that LOL!

Well I was also friends with this Samoan girl that everyone was scared of, so there's that.

Same for my nephew. He is quite popular. He was homecoming king... Never hides his fabulousness... Dance club, theatre, track, etc. But, he got in trouble with the fam for similar things his female cousins get in trouble for... Explicit social media...pics, videos, and solicitation, disrespect... typical teen stuff. No one's homophob on the fam. Girls crush on him with his caramel eyes.
