I frustrate myself because everything I do is at 100 miles an hour, there’s so much to do. But, I can’t do one thing at a time to competition… I start on something then something else pops up as I’m doing it and I start on that while I’m there..

For instance: cleaning the house I start in the kitchen, cleaning dishes and wiping out the fridge. I need to go to the laundry to grab some more spray. While in there I start doing the laundry and folding things, then I think, I better put those away while I have them. Next minute I’m in the bedroom, after putting clothes away. I better dust in here and make the bed… I end up going around and around the whole day. It mostly gets done but never complete, by the end I’m exhausted. I might have popped out to the shops during it because I needed something to cook for dinner as well 🤦🏼‍♀️

I work like this and can tackle a few different things going on at once but I can’t for the life of me just do one thing to completion :/

Is this part of ADHD, my daughter says she’s been diagnosed with it and she thinks she gets it from me. 🙄

Yes! It takes a mountain of will power for me to complete even a simple task without starting a second one in the middle of it. Or listening to a talk, podcast, song without my mind going places and missing parts of it. The only tasks I have no problem sticking with are those I'm mildly addicted to. It's not normal, but I learned to cope with it. It's definitely not boredom, but my attention.

I'm not one to swallow pills to make myself better, though. I do experiment sometimes when things are tough, only to find out that the same drug could have different effects, depending on your general wellbeing state. I once took something from an online prescription pharmacy. It worked for about two weeks. Stopped using it when it stopped working, then re-started 10 months later. First time around it improved my focus immensely. Second time it just made me extremely sleepy, lol. Same batch, same box.....different person? 😄

Yeah I'm like that. I even struggle with the most mundane shit. It takes me an entire day to finish a 2-hour movie because I find myself pausing it to do some other useless crap.

My sister who's in the medical field told me I may have ADHD. I keep telling myself I need to see someone about this lol.

The only thing that can make my ass sit the fuck down and focus is reading books. Otherwise I have to make a to-do list for everything or I'd end up starting stuff but never finishing them. Or completely forget about them lol.

Either ADHD or because of cardinal energy.

lol, watching a movie… I’m up doing the dishes listening to it because I can’t sit there for the whole thing.. if it’s a series, I really miss a lot of what’s going on but my intelligence tries to pick up on it— 🙄 sitting still makes me think I’m lazy, I’m not doing enough with my time.

That is definitely me. I do that a lot…..especially when cleaning my house. Which is why I probably end up with a bunch of partially cleaned rooms instead of one that’s completely clean. I get distracted too easily and then by the time I go back to finish where I started I’m already too exhausted.

So glad I’m not the only one, I knew I wasn’t..

So I’m packing to move in just under 8 weeks 🤣 🤣🤣🤣 you can imagine my organised mess then. For a day I had pulled stuff out of the kitchen cupboard that was to be packed, then I realised, I need more packing boxes and celotape etc, went up the road to grab it, came back and decided to clear out the shed.. everything was on the bench for a further day.

...this legit sounds like me...😂 lol

i don't know if it's adhd or anything like that but you're probably just super good at "noticing" things that are not done or out of place or that needs doing and when you notice them, it's hard for you to leave them alone.

but if the chores mostly get done like you said, then you're probably doing a really good job and shouldn't be too hard on yourself. lol

multi tasking is like a way of life for me too 😂 lol am i good at it? no 😂 do i still like to fool myself into thinking i can manage? yeah all the time 😂 lol

what helps me often though is making lists on my phone of tasks that need to get done for the day and checking them off as soon as they're done. it might help you with knowing which tasks are finished so you don't feel like your mind is all over the place.

this was my short to do list for the day (i usually have like 8 more things on there but today was a day off so not much to do. finally got around to ordering bottled water from amazon lol kept forgetting this one ):

i got most things done. i'm only gonna do one more (meeting prep)

i'm not doing puerto rico and apartment today 'cause they're not urgent at all...

s/o was talking about how puerto rico is a tax haven and i was just gonna see if it's true or if he's just talking out of his ass 😂lol

lol, I only make lists when it’s super important. I haven’t yet for the move but I will soon.

At work I’m the same, just as well my job calls for versatility and being able to juggle a dozen things at once or a dozen people phew.

Tbh, I’m relieved to see there’s a few of you like this and what you are all saying, I’m laughing… yeah that’s me too! I’m starting to feel normal and nah I’m not taking pills for this, ever!

Oh no I'm so sorry. I'm nothing at all like this. Because of my laziness and all I wanna do is kick back and unwind my house stays in tip top shape. And I see to it that it stays that way at all times. Once I clean I don't want to find myself ever cleaning again.

Um wait just a minute lemme correct one small mistake. Only one of my bedrooms is messy. I got all sorts of wires, amp and speaker cords draped all across the floor. Guitars, keyboards, guitar accessories, speakers, amps, PA systems etc all scattered up in the bedroom. It's more like a studio than a bedroom. Instead of cleaning it up I have made up in my mind to use it as such, a studio. The cap is a heck of a lot more of the clean freak type and kept bugging me about cleaning it up. It's just a room nobody frequents but me. And when company come by I just make sure the room door is closed.

But none of my rooms are like that, they aren’t messy. They just need cleaning or tidying/organising. Like the windows or skirtings or a good dusting and reshuffling so I know where everything is.

Oh dusting is a synch. Im not lazy enough to get up and do that. I just use one of my soft straw brooms to do most of my dusting. And bam. That takes care of that. Those feather dusters don't get the job done good enough for me. I think I do need to at least pick up the cords and stuff up off the floor and neatly place them somewhere safe so my clumsy self won't keep tripping.

I think I'm really good at getting things done on time and fix the things I need to fix. I have a lot of will power and I'm quite organized if I want to but I'm also quite lazy so I don't put a lot of things on my to do list unless I actually have to. 😂

I second the use of check lists. I have terrible memory and will most likely forget a lot of things if I don't write them down. You also feel better when you've accomplished doing a task on your list.

I do this too. I don't think its ADHD, its just too much to do too little time. And since there is no deadline staring me down for these kinda tasks its like, oh let me sweep this room. Hmmm how would this chair look over there? Next thing I know I'm rearranging furniture lol.

Just tell yourself at least things are getting closer to the finish line, right?

Yes I am the same way. I bet if it's something you enjoy you have no trouble burying yourself into correct?

However finding those things isn't easy.

At times we are distracting yourself with shit you don't actually want to do. Because in our society we have to do it to survive.

Secondly, will power is a issue because of self discipline. ADHDs are seekers. Some things take work and effort to achieve. Delayed gratification is a serious weakness of ADHD.

I wish I could multitask like that

It's worse. It's starting something, doing it incredibly detailed then getting bored and doing something else and not finishing the first task.

Oh well.. if it's that, I do it all my life lol
