I started a new job 2+ weeks ago. And thewn protect the heck out of me! I perform wrong and they cover me. I produce shit work and they fix it. On the down low telling me what I did wrong.

They all have enveloped me. Is this a common male trait?
You must be cute

Why?

Cause dudes don't go out of their way for anything less than cute.

maybe Southern Hospitality?
Hmm..nah.

I encountered this same thing with my male colleagues in the oil and gas industry. Older guys (40s to 50s) mostly from Australia and South Africa. The European guys were also helpful in a similar fashion. Maybe they think it's the gentlemanly thing to do?

When you say in general you mean in general based on YOUR experiences, as a cute person.

Yes. No sleazy agenda. I was new to the industry back then and they were teaching me stuff about equipment and safety procedures (practical aspects). I think their approach helped me to create a bond with them and communication became easier, work wise.

It's weird cos that industry is infamous for its sexist "boys will be boys" mindset.

Yea.

There's this Taurus at my work who watched a new nurse talk rudely to me time and time again. Without telling me, he got some email action to the unit director and the nurse educator. They pulled her into a room and had a talk with her and she had to apologize to me lol. I had no idea what was going on. And it was like awwwwwwww you sweet man. I can handle it, though, ya know? I dish it right back out or let it go because everyone is just under stress.

The guys will also step in and take care of all post Mortem stuff so no woman has to... If they can...

And all of the stuff this Leo has done to protect me even if I told him not to...

It's just a natural thing they do. I love it.

Your job isn't easy one. The Leo is a a good man.

You are hardworking and deserving of protective services

Well if go n get ur work done n make honest mistake

But if ur purpously trying to get away with it by batting ur eyes well yeah

Luckly I work in male dominated field n all my female conworker are above this because our lives depend on it as we need to have each other's back in the line

Male n female
I'm working my fingers to the bone, literally. I'm so out of my element.

I don't want to fuck up but I seem to do it a lot. I know my sweet demeanor will only work so long before it gets tiring.

I'm working in a field that requires a degree that I don't have, so I'm being trained. And one day I'm golden doing everything right, days like today... Well let's say I messed up everything I could before 9am.

I feel you on having each other's backs. That's what I'm getting from it too.ita this whole initiation phase where I think they pity me and fix my crap. But I'm trying as hard as I can. Some days I wonder if I'm going to make it through the day.

My boss is a micromanaging, cuss at you make you feel two inches tall, type. I think they help me because they don't want him to yell at me.

Men will do this for a new woman in a male-dominated job. Subconsciously or maybe even consciously, they're competing to woo you. It's the sweet side of male chauvinism. I worked in a few jobs like that, and it happened every place. And the other women who'd been there a while detested me for it. I never stayed long enough to become one of them.
There's only one other female. She avoided me the first week but I think she is hilarious. I really like her. She started showing me her tricks of the trade and helped me too. But she also secretly talks shit about everyone so I get the down low on them all from her perspective.

The men, one of which already asked for my number after I asked him is there anything else I can help you with before I clock out for the night. The other guy shaved off his huge beard and came to work clean cut Monday. Complimented me on my perfume today lol.

Yeah I can see that being the case. They know what it's like to be on the receiving end. They don't want that to happen to you or least try to help minimize the chances of it happening.

My boss is from South Africa! He said their custom is to talk loud because if you whisper people will think you're talking about them. He said in Africa, people express anger more openly.

Exactly.

Which almost concerns me more when my boss does yell/attack me. How will I respond? I'll probably yell and cuss back or cry depending on my mood. But I need this job to survive so there is that
