I didnt use my voters id card i used my license, and social security card. In CT as long as you are in line by 8pm you can vote so if you are still waiting in line they will take you, but people who get in line after that time are turned away. People make sure you are informed on these things just don't assume you can't vote because of certain things like not having your voters card.

I applied for my voter's card in July at my new place and haven't received it since. So I can't vote.
Dafuq is a voter's card?

I take that back.

If this is something that proves you're registered, you can look it up online if you're registered in the system. If you are, you can vote. Not having your "card" doesn't prevent you from voting.

It's the card you get when you register. They only looked at mine cause I went to a place with 2 districts voting in the same place, but really all they did was use my license to validate who I was.

NY must be one of the rare states that don't ask for any sort of id at all. They just ask my name. I have even helped them find it in the book before.

Yeah, I dunno wtf they're talking about. I just checked and I'm not seeing any state that prevents people from voting if they don't have their "voter card." Once you're registered, you're in the system. Worst case, they just need another form of photo ID like a license.

To just assume you can't vote because you don't have it is just lazy and ignorant.

Hmm..High voter turnout generally means Dems win by a large margin. We'll see tonight.

Depends on the district. This area is heavy republican and very anti Clinton . I'm willing to bet that 75-80% were not for Hillary (not necessarily Trump though). NYC usually carries the vote so it never really matters. I'm wondering if NY may end up closer than expected.

Mine doesn't either. In the primary election, I swapped out my mail in ballot for a Dem ballot and all they did was ask for my name and address. They only ask for ID if there are verification problems or if you registered via mail or internet. Registration usually goes through the DMV so it's kind of an automatic ID situation anyway.

Yeah, I mean nationwide. I think the black and hispanic vote is historically at a high for this election, which will swing towards hillary.

I wonder how it works for Americans abroad. my boss's wife is American. At the embassy?

Probably mail in ballots

I'll ask him tomorrow how she voted. All she says is if Trump wins she's never going back 😛

if what you said is an option it would have to be priority shipping lol

They send out mail in ballots uber early. I think I got mine at the beginning of October.

haha, I have a friend in California who texted me how thick the booklet of props is. Fucking hell it looked like a textbook-in-training. 😱

But she said the good news is that half of it was in Spanish. 😛

My voting location changed from a Catholic church to an elementary school this time.

I always thought voting in a Catholic church was weird.

My place used to be a Methodist church but it changed to a volunteer fire house in 2012. When I asked why, they mumbled something about not wanting to pay. I'm not sure exactly what that meant but I'm guessing they had to pay for the use of the building.

Luckily we only had two props...

1 NRA sponsored prop to unnecessarily make hunting and fishing a "constitutional" right (total bullshit and that's coming from an outdoorsman)

And

1 Transit bill to raise taxes to "improve" our bus system....because nothing works better than throwing more taxpayer money at a service there is no demand for.

It was easy to vote no on both.
We have like 10. I wanted to gouge my eyes out. My ballot was two pages, front and back.

ALSO THERE IS FREE KRISPY KREME DONUTS IF YOU GO IN WITH YOUR "I VOTED" STICKER.

If that doesn't motivate you to vote, you're unamerican.

me too! last month! sucks.
Honey, you can still vote.

so what's the deal? what do I carry with me?

you could be kept from voting if you do not bring a document with your current address to the polls that meets the requirements of the state of your residence. Most states permit another government ID, paycheck, utility bill or bank statement, but some have more stringent requirements. Therefore if your current address does not match your driver’s license, you should do one of two things:

•Register at your new address and check the ID and proof of residency requirements here or with your Secretary of State’s office. You may need to get a new driver’s license.

•Register at your home/parents’ address and vote by absentee ballot

I don't know why she was so surprised. The voter guides are usually about that thick, give or take. It's bilingual, so it's technically half the size always haha.

Utility bills are usually your go to.

Do you have a license? Does it have the current address? If not, bring a utility bill with you.

What state do you live in?

It also only applies to early voting. Republicans usually turn out on election day, and often because of heavy Dem early voting, they have votes to make up. This time dem turnout is quite a bit lower than 2012.
