This might surprise you but none.

Really. There's so much to choose from.

In order to understand anything we need to keep record of everything. Once we lose a piece of the puzzle history will be lost.

So, statues are okay to destroy, but books are not?

The fact you even compared the two says a lot, I lost a brain cell

Yes.

Books teach. Statues honor.

Books can be read or not read. Statues have to be seen.

So, if a group of people decided to pull down that statue of Lenin in Seattle, you wouldn't have a problem?

None. Even those I find heinous. Books are essential to seeing two sides of an outlook and seeing the median.

But hey, anecdote time:

Was once seeing this Sag girl with whom I'd often talk about neurology or the occult. I lent her a book from Eliphas Lévi. It had the picture of Baphomet on the cover. She brought it with her to her mother in law's, then it disappeared. When she finally inquired about its whereabouts, the new-age spiritualism, crystal-toting mother in law had decide the image brought evil into the house and proceeded to burn the book and bury its ashes in the backyard under moonlight...

I agree.

None. I couldn't imagine being that bothered.

This.^^^

How is this even a thing?

Because there exists people who think that by burning specific books, they will put a stop to whatever it is they are against.

If only it were that simple.

Even Julius Caesar couldn't put a stop to ancient history still being recovered and recorded today.

None.

I've been wanting to read Mein Kampf for a long time, but it's banned in many countries. I'm curious about what went on in the mind of that madman, for him to do what he did.

From what I've heard it really isn't that intetersting and almost a comedy gold.

We had a comedian touring around with reading parts of it and the Nazis that came to protest and threaten his life themselves couldn't help but laugh at some passages which then left them quite confused.

I guess you are referring to S. Somonucu. I have seen that too. They came in to protest and then he was like "Oh good you are here, I am reading Mein Kampf. Have a seat". lol

Tbh, anything related to religion. I know I'll get bashed for it but it keeps people in a certain regime thats unhealthy for the world. It causes divided minds about sexuality (think adversity towards homosexuality), but also about race, and people think in rights and wrongs while it isnt that black n white. They think in sins while we're hardwired this way. Think lust for example, its normal to have sexual feelings,

I do understand that religion gives a certain stability in people's lives but at the same time, it causes wars aswell and that never should be ok. A lot of things are done in the name of the Lord (in any form of religion) which is indirectly not taking responsibility of your own actions.

Feeling cheeky ....i'd say all "holy" scriptures ....however, i would not really, as they too contributed to our history. I'd rather wipe out religious dogmas from our DNA

until then i will leave with zappa: so many books, so little time.

Cheers.

Cool cool, after you wipe out all religion. Yet the bane of humanity remains the same hahah! Greed, evil, lying, killing, manipulation... shall I continue with the flaws or you’re beginning to understand the pattern here?

Homework for you would be to read up on human psychology, our primitive survival skills, the junk dna that still remains... skips a few generations then the dormant genes resurface.

Now I understand why this thread was created 😂😂

Can I strip it back a little... before religion. Were those same issues still in place? Do you think maybe ideologies might also be an issue and play a part?

Btw I’m neither for or against religion.. I’ll respect and learn from all walks of life.

I'm Catholic and pansexual, and I get where you're coming from - but without religious texts, I would never have learned where they went wrong and what they did wrong (the Bible takes bragging to another level, and exposes the weaknesses of Christianity). There are some religious books though that are truly about seeking a higher spiritual plane, e.g. Sufism, which helped produce the writings of Rumi.

And like someone said previously, religion solely isn't responsible for all the wars, divides and strifes that have happened in history. It's the misinterpretation of religion and its misuse by man for personal gain (power, money) that created those things. It is the choices and decisions we make when we read something, that is responsible for human idiocy.

I’m a sucker for click bait threads 😂

Historically to nit pick is just lazy thinking, it’s there as a valuable lesson. The new form of religion to influence the mass with propaganda is the media and now social media, I really see no difference.

Also I’m not sure which religion/ideology inspired US to put a wall up on the Mexican border, N.Korea or Kashmir etc etc...

And no I don’t think you’re gullible at all, ^ it’s for anyone who holds that opinion it’s an easy cop out.

"Also I’m not sure which religion/ideology inspired US to put a wall up on the Mexican border, N.Korea or Kashmir etc etc..."

Ancient Chinese - Chen Huang Shen - Deity of Walls and Moats - The City God, or the spiritual magistrate and guardian deity.

"Because dead spirits reputedly informed the god of all good and evil deeds within his jurisdiction, it was popularly believed that devout prayers offered in Cheng Huang’s temple would be liberally rewarded. The wide popularity of his cult was also due in part to imperial approbation."

Checks out... build a wall for this cult as a way to ascertain information. Or it was just good ol' drugs and alcohol. 🤭
