Honestly, I don't agree with any of the shit he did. I think he damaged the movement by being an idiot

With that being said, those charges were so trumped up and ridiculous. Yes, he should be punished for lying, but when you got Stanford swimmers out here getting no jail time for raping girls. Or dumbasses that drive drunk and kill 6+ people and suffering from "affluenza" getting probation for vehicle manslaughter. You just have to laugh at the charges they brought against Jussie.

So ass backwards.

I see your point. But where is the line drawn? If this is said every time someone does something then the cycle never stops

When the system decides to stop allowing egregious crimes, like rape, to stop being minimized, maybe then we can have that discussion. But when a system, that allows for one person to get to go to a luxury rehab after killing 6 people, while allowing a person of another color, that punched a man and accidentally killed him with no priors to spend 15+ years in jail, then we can have that discussion (the same judge passed those sentences). Until the system becomes fair and honest, the lines will remain blurred.

Why you throw the race stuff in there. Stupidity is stupidity. The second the stupidity starts getting some serious convictions, it’ll pipe down.

Because it is facts in regards to the two specific cases I am mentioning. The two particular judges, that allowed for the lenient sentences, historically, did so based off race. I am not saying all judges are like this. The same can be said about other cases. For instance, the girl that lied about the 2 college football players raping her. Her allegations, and subsequent false claims, let to them being kicked out of school, losing their scholarships, and faced legal debt to clear their names. She got a year. And in my eyes, she should have received a lot more time, since she ruined not one, but two lives with her lies. She got away with a slap on the hand too. Many of the false rape charges, are normally given lenient sentencing, and I don't agree with it.

Not even close to that. There just needs to be a "fair" judgement for men, women, purple, blue, white, black, brown. Because it isn't now. Money speaks louder than words, in our justice system. Money holds power.

So he perpetrates a hoax, which could have incurred civil unrest, and all charges dropped.

Better start checking bank accounts for large deposits.

He forfeited his bond. That's apparently the price to play in Chicago.

His total bond was 100K he only paid 10K. Does he have to pay 90K or they calling it good?

Actually you didn’t, you said whatever it takes, after your snarky comment regarding prosecuting all the privileged white folks.

Tired of white people pretending racial bias and indignation doesn’t exist unless they experience seeing it first hand, but then raise concern when someone ethnic brings it up.

For once I would like to see shadow cases where you don’t see the makeup of the defendant. It’s hard in high profile cases, but these day to day cases with anonymous individuals it’s horse shit.

I’ve volunteered my services for cases in major cities and it’s mostly brown and black people sent to prison for similiar circumstances than white people. Charges than are designed to make you plea out vs charges that are designed to be dismissed or deferredly prosecuted to give Judy a second chance without a record and Lashawn a record, so he can clean up his act in prison and try to have one when he gets out. Just one was darker and hair was nappier than the other. So because someone cleans up well in the eyes of the judge and prosecutor, sentencing is skewed.

You need more women and minority judges and prosecutors this day and age and you would see a hell of a lot of improvement.

Are you saying race has no factors in punishment or being charged to begin with?

I’m sure once it doesn’t, it won’t be said anymore....

Did you read that I said that?

You don’t know when I’m being snarky so just STFU already

Why do you act like you haven't benefited from white privilege when facing criminal allegations?

Not doing this as you never pay attention.

But I do. You're lucky to be alive and even got a great career out of it. You are the "Judy" that was given a second chance.

Career? Lol.

You have a very distorted view

You're saying your career didn't spawn from your military service?

Absolutely not. My career is in no way, shape or form connected to what I did in the Army. Not even close

Call me whatever you want. Just can’t call me privileged. Ain’t nobody gave me shit in this life. I’ve worked harder than 90% of the people you know and definitely harder than most here. While you kick back in your AC typing and swiping on Tinder calling people names I’m out here running billion dollar facilities.

This has always been my personal belief about the justice system. I have said it time and time again. I see the injustices time and time again, and it irritates the living shit out of me. How anyone cannot see that money and race play in the role of how people are sentenced, is beyond me.

Just like the weird thought that just because admitting POC are often times disadvantaged, and have to, at times, work against those disadvantages that race brings them, that it somehow takes away from any of the hard work someone else, of a different race must do to have a good life. Your hard work isn't negated or minimized by acknowledging that someone else, of a different race, may have had disadvantages greater than you own. Those two things do not coincide with one another. So to compare it, is asinine, because they aren't the same experiences. It doesn't make you any less, or what you do any less. It just means it is different. So that argument is illogical to me.

What cases are those?

The justice system is flawed because it seems to be based on emotion over facts and logic.

I guess that’s what happens when you have humans passing judgment on other humans.

Blacks setting blacks free. Privilege.

Reported.

For what?

For lying and being racist

In a surprise hearing Tuesday, Joe Magats, the first assistant state's attorney in Cook County, Illinois, announced he decided to drop charges against Smollett. The stunning reversal 18 days after a grand jury indicted the "Empire" actor on felony disorderly conduct outraged the Chicago mayor and police department.

For what it's worth, the Illinois Prosecutors Bar Association issued a statement on this case.

This part was interesting, because sealing the case hides any evidence of what and whom was communicating on that phone Smollett refused to turn over:

"Additionally, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office falsely informed the public that the uncontested sealing of the criminal court case was “mandatory” under Illinois law. This statement is not accurate. To the extent the case was even eligible for an immediate seal, that action was discretionary, not mandatory, and only upon the proper filing of a petition to seal. See 20 ILCS 2630/5.2(g)(2). For seals not subject to Section 5.2(g)(2), the process employed in this case by the State’s Attorney effectively denied law enforcement agencies of legally required Notice (See 20 ILCS 2630/5.2(d)(4)) and the legal opportunity to object to the sealing of the file (See 20 ILCS 2630/5.2(d)(5)). The State’s Attorney not only declined to fight the sealing of this case in court, but then provided false information to the public regarding it."
