Unless they are PERFECT.. you have to know the right people to get in.click to expand

Posted by firebunnyI say follow your Dream. Just do your best. Tell your mother to help you all she can.
I told my mum about this and she said, "take up LLM in International Taxation instead! Don't dream big, be practical!"

Posted by MyStarsShineI know I have a chance. And I still have lots of time to prepare. My friend told me it's all about the packaging - although grades are looked into. I was like, if it's all about the packaging, I really think I have a chance. I write well! 😛Posted by firebunnyGo for it Bunny.....remember when you didn't think you would pass your bar exams..and you did

Posted by MyStarsShineI don't use my connections to get admitted into something. I just let the admission process determine if I really deserve it.Posted by GetMisted...maybe he does......know the right person and is meant to get in ?Posted by MyStarsShineDid you not see his qualifications above?Posted by GetMistedWhy not?

She told me that, to get into Harvard, you have to write essays and submit letters of recommendation from former professors. It's the entire package that they will consider although grades in law school are also looked into.
She could easily get in since she's the valedictorian and actually had latin honors - magna cum laude for the undergrad and cum laude for law school.
My grades aren't as stellar - cum laude for undergrad and none for law school. Although I was running for valedictorian had I not transferred schools, dean's lister twice, academic scholar once, and had "off-the-record" grades during the second half of law school, I had two failing marks and some incomplete grades during the first half.
I'm just wondering if I could still get in despite some problematic grades (but all were part of the first half in law school) considering that it's the packaging that they will mostly consider. I hope that my off-the-record grades in the second half of law school entices them into admitting me.
I will apply for LLM for Environmental Law btw and where I am from is a big plus - I live in a disaster-stricken community that was able to achieve a record of zero casualty in the last typhoon season. I am also a consultant at the provincial government and part of my work is to review the laws of our province. Today, I had just submitted the Review I wrote where I specifically suggested some tax measures that will encourage people to help in environment conservation and protection.
