Nationalism

I couldn't stand one day with "my own" lol. Bunch of paranoid, hypochondriac, know-it-alls. Ugh
Nationalism is barbaric thought that breeds superiority and kills growth as a collective.
Its dying.
Its dying.

Nationalism is what got trump elected. It's alive and well.
Nothing wrong with it. But when you take into what the nazis did with it.. it's important never to blind yourself to what it can become later.

nationalism has some good and some bad, obviously it's dumb on a lot of counts, and sounds archaic as a concept.
On the other hand it can help people defend themselves against a more global tyranny.
It happened countless times over the ages. A suite of globalist empires forming, followed by nationalistic separatism. It will keep happening.

Personally i don't think that nationalism is dying, quite the contrary, it's on the rise through a resurgence of populist politicians who for right and wrong reasons want to take power away from unelected bureaucrats sitting in supra-national institutions to whose regulation nations committed themselves for economic benefits in the past.

Posted by Mr_PinchyYou're talking with perspective towards the EU I presume?

Posted by CancerOnTheCuspYa i do, but broadly speaking Trump won on the same ticket. Populist, preached less commitment in int. institutions, removal of troops etc etcPosted by Mr_Pinchy

Do they believe themselves to always have a severe ailment when all the while it’s something minor? Are they drama queens? click to expandclick to expand

In individuals, insanity is rare; but in groups, parties, nations and epochs it is the rule

Best to stay neutral. Don't say a thing.

Its pretty damn dumb in most situations

I'm curious, and pose a question for the studio audience:
Is the US Constitution:
A) Racist
B) Evil
C) Opposed to the progress of the Human Condition
D) A culmination of humanistic thought rooted in the inherent rights of man (settle down, human if you prefer)
E) A document specifically designed to keep the masses down
F) A pesky document that would have been better if it said "King George Rules"

I don't believe in any political party.
All politicians and political ideologies have disappointed me through out the years.
Umm, excuse me but you have yet to experience the benevolent dictatorship of the pinchy era.

Nationalism is all about the state. It's not about the country.
It's about state power.
It excludes the interests of other nations instead of trying to live in harmony with them. Which causes wars.
Before you can live in harmony with other nations you must learn to live in harmony with your own.
No different then the term "learn to love yourself before you start loving others"
You come first then others.

Wrong. You can't love yourself until you love others. You can only be a narcissist.click to expand
How has that worked for you?

The concept of this dichotomy between "us" and the"others" is socially constructed. We are all "us" in the sense that we are all the same species. You can extend that to all sentients and even to all living things, if you will.click to expand
Not with the notion of tribalism within nations. Once tribalism is eradicate then you can take unity globally as a species.

No, Weeds is right, self love first
The reason people get abused or treated badly is they've no self love...

I think it's usually lack of free choice or other options.click to expand
I've found with people it's about feeling unloved...

Depending on who "yours" are. Mine are bunch of half people, half beasts, so I don't really enjoy the company.
It's a choice; you either choose an easy road with no bumps, or a road less travelled with a possibility to lose life.
It all depends on you, but that's how things work in general.
