My boyfriend is a bad texter when he goes on family trips
Money isn’t an issue for his family so that can’t be a valid excuse. Especially as he’s sending pictures and videos.

He's on vacation with his family in a different time zone and country. He's probably busy having a good time and seeing the sites and probably doesnt have a lot of alone time. Be happy that he sends the occasional text and sending pictures. That's probably all I would do. I'm leaving the country next month on a cruise and will have zero internet (cause I refuse to pay for it) so I won't even have my phone on for a week.
