I don't know that its a cultural thing cause I am the same. I call them fair weather friends. They are there for you when the going is good but when you fall on hard times or need their support its crickets.
Just cut them out, or give no effort anymore. Let them step up for once. Or just let it fade to black.

Nope, it’s my old time Leo friend whom I called out on this 2 years ago, and just recently again when she came looking for favors.
And also the Cap with whom I’ve had no contact since early Feb. Still, a shallow and petty type behind the niceness mask.
One thing I never get fully over or forgive is being treated as a disposable friend. I also believe in retributory justice when it comes to these things.

I was completely oblivious to it, until one day when she got mad at me for some unknown reason, and everything came out there and then. She said she was trying to "help me in my attraction to women" because it was not healthy being that way (I suspect she was trying her best to avoid calling it a sin).
Mind you, this was the same person who took me to a strip club 2 nights before.
I had a friend who turned out to be homophobic and I discovered she was subtly trying to "straighten" me out lmao

Not “out of nowhere” obviously, there was a reason - I stopped being useful in more than one way. I also don’t feel like explaining here fully, the context is not required.
It’s been rough for me. I’ve never really formed strong bonds with anyone other than my partner and when that’s done, it happens all over again with a new partner. Most of my friendships have been off and on and very casual. Not deep at all. Except for a Taurus man, we’ve been friends for a long time, but we’re not that close anymore just due to life getting in the way.
I lost respect for my parents when I went out into the world and learned that my parents were irresponsible, uncaring, and neglectful. Very selfish parents with poor life style s. When I was a child they were my world and very important to me until I knew better. That’s disappointing.
I feel like I need to adopt new parents and get what I’ve missed all these years. 😁
It is disappointing but your life is just beginning now - love and care for yourself in every way that you missed and more. Be good to you because you are here and you are special !

That would have been the day our friendship ended, without me ever looking back. To me, that shows just how much you mean to here. If you can’t depend on friends in a time of need, there’s no point to having them around.

this is so TMI but....
back in college, she once had this really bad diarrhea. there was a single occupant toilet on there with thankfully nobody around outside so i was forced to stay right by the door while she took a shit. and get this, there were no toilet paper rolls. i had to run to some other part of the building to get some toilet paper. always thought we're such good friends after that. and there was one time she got caught drunk on school property and she dragged me into it coz she didn't wanna be alone for the punishment. i was suspended along with her and she didn't even defend me. she could've got me out of that by telling everybody she was alone. i always got her out of shit (one time literally) and she's never done anything for me.
try to be a good enough of a friend to at least not try to sell me supplements for a serious illness come on.
yeah my ex. i dont like to remember the bad things and its true that when you're in love, you have like these love goggles on. I might in a toxic relationship but all it took was for me to not be in that relationship anymore to see how bad it really was. Im thankful that he ended the toxic relationship because i dont know if i could have done it myself.
