I just hate how everything feels disposable with online dating and have refused to have any of those

because it makes it so everyone IS disposable. it's gotten to the point where trying to talk to a person in real life comes off looking weird.

Aren't you a musician? You should be beating bishes off with a stick.

I’m talking in general terms. The effect that’s it’s had on my peers and all that. I guess u could say hearing about their experiences has really gotten tiresome.

lol. Oh yeah. I did a couple of times many moons ago. If you're down to meet some interesting people and just looking to get your deek wet, there are women who will be in the same wave length. It's EXTREMELY difficult to find anything you can take seriously in those apps. And those who try to will be in the same boat as the people you hear these stories from. And unfortunately, it does bleed into the dating scene outside those apps.

Yeah, it's ALWAYS the same theme, just a slightly different story. Random bish or guy seems cool or weird after a date or two, then it leads to them ghosting or you're like never mind.

And with the bolded, it seems like any slight flaw shown nowadays and you're totally done when it comes to dating outside the apps. It's like people have this idea in their heads that apps are a good fall back plan and it's just a vicious cycle.

It's one thing if you've never done it or used online dating apps. That's admirable and all, but it still doesn't change the fact that online dating still affects everyone else around you and how they interact with folks or how they pursue YOU.

i have had a couple of friends who managed to get long term relationships out of tinder.

one leo and pisces, broke up after a few years of living together.

another taurus and aqua, just had a baby.

maybe it's age. maybe they're in the minority. i've heard lots of ghosting stories too. i guess that's just a thing now.

I agree. I tried it and went on about 7 first dates. I didn't want to keep dating any of the guys.

Its just a fake weird situation where each other wants to use the other person to get what he/she needs. Also too impersonal and the way you met each other is like fishing.

It's great for people like myself. There's nothing stopping you from doing it the old fashioned way lol

Let us anxiety ridden introverts have our chances too

The old fashioned way is no longer the way, or at least, it's changing. That's kinda the point I was trying to make.

BTW, am introverted too, but this goes beyond me or you.

Online dating is not that much different from the real world other than you have a sense of protection for your ego and you get to sense people out before deciding to go out on a date. I like(ed) online dating because I also like white men and usually they don't approach Latina women like Latino or Black men do, they are not shy. Or they may think we are not interested.. I've made a friend online before even though I was not interested in anything romantic with them and last time I met my boyfriend which we now have been dating for 2 yrs..my longest relationship ever. Funny thing is I knew some of the people he knew and we must have crossed paths before, just never actually met..till online..

All technology will have two-fold results. Watch the Netflix series "Black Mirror?" Check out the episode titled "Hang the DJ"

It's on Youtube.

I'm so glad to be in the last generation that didn't use cellphones. OMG, it's so funny.

When I was single, I would text and hold a convo then I would forget my cellphone in my coat or my car and subsequently forget I was having a conversation! LOL! Young men would be exasperated with me.

That's part my personality too though. Cause what's really bad is I"ve had a carphone that read texts through the car speaker since 2006. When you're already a detached type, and you add technology, just "beam me up Scottie." Lol, half the people hear won't even know what that qoute means. LMAO.

The older guys acted like me and held my attention longer.

So happy to be an old coot now! I even have reading glass on a pearl chain now.

LMAO...

Sorry, so funny to an unabashed extrovert. Introverts are always a wee bit creepy to me. I feel like a bull in a glass menagerie shop.

It’s creepy to me that you feel comfortable with people you don’t know. 🤷🏻‍♂️

it is hot trash. just awful for every one involved. women, men, etc. it's completely changed the norms of dating.

I agree, the concept isn't all that bad, it's just that there are way too many people using it as a meat market and it gets a bad wrap - plus too many people are damaged and don't even know what they want anymore

Wait a minute!!! Don’t you all make music to get laid? Why than? 👀

Because making music is fun? Lol.

And getting laid isn’t? You doing it wrong hon...

Getting laid is fun, but it doesn't have to be in unison with making music. I prefer to keep that kinda ish separate.

Well what can you expect when most people would rather put a filter over who they really are. It's obvious that too much internet to much social media is toxic, it is literally changing into empty automatons desperate for validation. If it were up to me I would destroy online dating period.

Online dating is for filter obsessed individuals, people looking to troll and kill time w/o making an effort, catfishes and no confidence to approach a person in real life.

I tried it once and those were my lazy days because I didn’t want to make an effort (winter lazy days) and all I saw was catfishes, people using pics from the time they were atttactive and marketable and people who wanted to talk more before meeting. It’s all flash without the substance. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a fling or something meaningless.

It works if both people are looking for the same thing and are both loyal. If one party is hitting up multiple people, then you're just an item in a catalogue. You're insignificant because they have a fall back plan for the slightest indication that you may be in any way flawed or human.

What happened exactly? Snapchat and photoshop really did a dangerous thing making people attractive in their phones and computers but not in real life. The consequences gotta be painful

They sure are if the first thing you are attracted to is looks, which we all are and online definitely is promoting that. Forget filters for a sec. Imagine using a pic from your early 20s when you had a lucious head of hair to when you’re in your early 30s and now you’re bald. This dude didn’t think that he had deceived. It was still him in the pic. I should’ve shown him when I was a teenager.
