I'm 15-20 lb away from my goal weight and I just can't seem to get there. I think I've "plateau-ed"

I haven't changed my diet anymore besides the no added sugar, white bread, or starch rule....I'm doing 30 min of cardio minimum plus weight training every day.

I did add whole wheat back in a couple times a weeks because my doctor and my grandma kept pushing that I need grain in my diet, but I've read conflicting things and I don't know what to do - is that what's making the last 20 lb hang on really—

Any suggestions ?

Maybe jumpstart your weight loss ?

For one day have a total cheat day and then get back to healthy eating.

I've also are carrots to get over a plateau.
One day cheat day will equal falling off all together for me lol I don't know how people do it lol

I have no control when it comes to limiting my self like that.

@brianafay you could also make sure you have vegetables that equal about 75% of your portion, no matter how big the portion is.

Try not eating meat for about 3 weeks. I am not even joking. It seriously works.

It's only 3 weeks.

Veg meals are super easy to make. The vegetable intake will make you glow and give your intestines a break. Lots of toxin build up knocked out and bloat disappears.

Even the documentaries I have watched show the huge difference in people after 2 weeks.

The trick is to eat as many colors of you can. Like the rainbow. With beans and legumes. That way you are all around satisfied.
Funny you say this ...my boss was just telling me she's trying to "eat the rainbow" and was explaining

try a different cardio. if you were running, do spin. don't do it every day either. your body needs to recover.

plus add more strength training and go heavy! there is no point doing 100 reps with 2lb weights. you may as well not do anything.

you need to build muscle because that will increase your metabolism and you will keeping burning long after your cardio has finished.

you will also need to look at how much you are eating in terms of calories. the lighter you get the less you will need to eat. cutting things out doesn't help per se, it's the overall calories that count.

strangely enough what has helped me get over a plateau is a cheat meal. my calories are fairly restricted though but if i stalled, i'd eat a massive pizza and then go back to my regular eating habits. apparently it's got something to do with leptins.

Mix it up - Try Hiit (its been mentioned before) but the best thing that worked for me was kettlebells.

They are an anerobic workout which maintains muscle and also burns fat at the same time.

With working out you have 2 options:

1.) You burn calories during the workout and then that's it, ie, low to modearate cardio, over a period of time your body will get used to this so its not fully pushed for the time you are training.

2.) Anerobic or EPOC - You burn calories when you train but with EPOC you continue to burn after your work - its known as excess post exercise oxygen consumption. It keeps your body elevated as you need oxygen therefore burning more calories.

http://blitzconditioning.com/epoc-what-is-it/?doing_wp_cron=1500478626.6687901020050048828125.

The other option is to look into full body workouts or conditioning workouts like MMA fighters do. They usually use the entire body too which takes more oxygen to drive.

Good luck

I don't know how you have been training but

lol, just to be contrary, don't skip any meals! food is fuel. your body needs it to keep working, for repair and to keep you exercising at your best.

if you skip, your body will think it is starving and it will hang on to the weight you have. it will slow your metabolism and make it harder to lose weight.

if you go to bed hungry then you won't sleep well and good sleep aids in weight loss.

so eat! (just eat the right stuff 😉)

I think I just need to change up what cardio I do...

I work out with men so I am already lifting heavy weight and have made a ton of progress that way so I know I am building muscle

sounds good. weight loss is mainly down to diet. i've heard that weight loss is 80 (diet):20 (exercise). i've heard it's even 90:10. not sure how true those ratios are.

be careful also not to eat back any of your hard work. it's really easily done. i wasn't losing weight (and even putting on) for a year and a half even though i was at the gym 4-5 times a week. i was over eating when i came out.

http://www.independent.co.uk/life- style /health-and-families/exercise-not-lose-weight-help-diet-gym-fitness-study-a7727556.html

but it sounds like you're doing well so far. 🙂

Unfortunately, this is the secret to staying thin. Always being a little hungry smh. I hate the feeling of being hungry but you learn to ignore the hunger pains cause you might just be thirsty. I'll drink a glass of water then wait 20 minutes to see if it was actual hunger.

lol not really cause I believe that at the end of the day its all about the total calories so it doesn't matter if you eat it before bedtime.

You can still eat breakfast lunch and dinner but eat clean and look for low calorie foods for example I eat fage plain Greek yogurt for breakfast with strawberries and sweet mango with raw honey. That's 20grams of protein and then for lunch I eat cottage cheese and tuna that's 40grams of protein you see where I'm going with these?
I will literally die

I have a coworker that eats cottage cheese for lunch

I'm sorry fuck that

The 20 lbs can stay lol

This. So many people overlook the importance of drinking water when losing weight. Most of the time you're not hungry, just thirsty. I say this to people when they ask me how I lost 30 pounds and many ignore this advice because they don't want to pee so much. ?

If you are lifting as much as you say you are you should be paying more attention to how your body is looking and not on the number.

There's other grains besides bread like rice. There's a reason body builders eat just rice and a clean protien source when there cutting down.

I would find ways to clean up your diet even more increase the cardio and wait a few more weeks if nothing is changing cut a few hundred more calories or increase your work load. But never go below 1200kcal. It's always better to just work out more then to cut calories.

Have u been doing the same workout ?
For cardio yeah pretty much ...I was trying to alternate bike riding and walking but weather has been shitty so it's sort of limited my choices

For weight training I pick one muscle each day and do about 5 exercises or so

U have to switch up the exercises , try doing 2 body parts in one workout instead of focusing on just one per workout

You may not be getting your heart rate up high enough for long enough with walking. I don't know your weight but if you've only got another 20 pounds to shed, walking is unlikely to cut it.
