I used to dream of living and settling eventually in America... but this changed over the past few years. The one thing that turned me off is that they say America is just plain boring. Every state simply looks just the same as the others.

But, anyway, these are the deal-breakers for me:

1. People are rude... Just look around here in DXP... they are soooo friggin' judgemental too.

2. Racism and Hypersensitivity to Racism - just about everything can be considered as a racist remark. I can't believe that I, being so open to all cultures, can be considered racist just because I said that I thought Sia was a black woman. The hell—

3. Political Correctness is dying. It's the same thing here in the Philippines as when Duterte won the elections but I'm not going there either just because of the similarity in the situation.

4. Materialism - People talk about material things more often than social causes and family upbringing. People tend to be more focused on money and greed instead of abstract matters like love and respect.

5. Spirituality is dying... I can't settle in a place where people don't believe in God. It's almost just the same as death itself. It's sad when I think about it.

Okay this is just a rant. I might delete this thread if it becomes too unpopular. On the other hand, I'm always open to changing my opinion. I don't know if I'll ever settle in America... but it seems that I like it here better now. It's my home anyway.

I don't know who told you that every state looks the same but they were lying. Even climate is 100% different. South Florida is tropical, Arizona is hot and dry, I live in the snowbelt. The dialects are different. Accents are different. Culture is different.

What you see on tv is over exaggerated versions of Americans. That's what draws ratings. Please don't judge us by the people on reality television. We are horrified by them too.

Every state is almost like a different country.
#AmericanStatements

No, no it isn't. Can argue different culture all you guys want, it's the same language and the same pearly tears at seeing bald eagles. Same basis for holidays. Same anthem, same history when it comes down to it.

I take one step across the border and I have no idea wtf is going on anymore. As Eastern European as we all are and similarities aside..different holidays, different language, different all.

the spirituality thing that is dying, it's weird cause American Indians, or native amercians were just that....SPIRITUAL folks. smoking a pipe and gathering around the fire, and dancing. Of course i'm only going by films and documentaries. I honestly don't have a clue. These days I hear they own Casinos and get drunk and live in reservations....

it's kind of sad in a way. but maybe not....as long as they are happy.

I didn't mean like that. I meant the way it looks. It doesn't always switch right at the state line, but each state has a completely different flavor. We do have different cultures as well, though they're not as distinctive as they once were, and English is spoken in all the states. I could post a video of my recent trip back home and then post a video of a night out in my current city, and you would see what I mean. Two different worlds. But I won't, because I'm incognito.

You don't have to, I know they don't look alike lmao. That was an ignorant comment by OP but look who OP is. Just saying the "Almost a different country" makes us snobby Europeans smirk.

The suburbs are dying here. Even the expensive ones. Just more slowly. Gentrification is where it's at. He can get a townhome or condo downtown and he and the missus can walk home at lunch from their attorney jobs and walk the labradoodle.

is this in the Midwest and south?

the suburbs close to San Francisco, or around it, not necessarily San Francisco itself....because they are more geared to tourism and there's a lot of homeless. but close by, you have to drive though.

they have new areas there they built over the past 10 years or so, and they are expensive big homes.

I don't know about the mid west, and there are Los Angeles suburbs I saw, and there are some cheap places, but they are also one of the top 5 ghetto in America areas. I think, no. 1 is Oakland, no2 is Los Angeles, 3. another city in around Los Angeles, 4. San Francisco area again.

Maybe it's also different in the East Coast.

I honestly wish I could leave... but I'd like to move somewhere northwest like Wyoming, Idaho, Montana

Somewhere more peaceful and less populated than the south.. I can't stand overcrowded cities and tourist..

But maybe it's good for immigrants, go somewhere like florida, or Boston, California, New York.
Lol sounds just like me..But I rather move to Colorado, the south is boring especially growing up here all your life.

Come one, come all! Healthiest state, one of the most beautiful, lots of jobs, not too crowded, tons of outdoor activity and recreation, friendly Latino community...weed and no one cares what you do as long you're not harming anyone. Not too expensive.

I love anywhere that has beautiful nature and people actively going out to do stuff.

there's good and bad wherever you go in this world - if you want to listen to the media and not understand the realty of this country, that's ok - I can say that I would like to go to other countries to see how they are but I'm not making judgments on them based on hearsay and media - I believe one has to experience things for themselves so I would want to "see" for myself ... after all, there are a lot of people that want to come to this country so we have enough anyway

Too many hipsters

Maybe some in Boulder, but not really in the rest of the state..maybe some snowboarders..but mostly Latinos, Western influenced native Coloradans, and transplants from the upper Midwest and Northeast (who come from similar 4 season climates but Colorado is warmer with 300 days of sun).

Bunny. making fluff threads everywhere he goes. i see what you trying to do just 😆

Unless you have been to a place yourself, and create an opinion based upon your OWN experience,, your words don't hold much value and weight. At least to me they don't.

I could sit here and say all asians look the same, all europeans are rude etc.. but i can't or more I won't. I can only speak on the places from my direct time visiting.

Not all americans are the same, or act the same...we are spiritual, we have religion, some more involved than others, not all states look the same, we have so many dialicts; you can't understand half the people from certain places or ares. Just to give you a little bit more insight to that which you speak.

So tell me, do all Asians look the same? Do you all eat cats or dogs? Didn't think so, just stop lol

Everything on this map is within an easy day's drive from Indianapolis. No one familiar with the US will say it all looks the same or is boring. Not with places like Chicago and Nashville in there.
I've never been to any of these states, or close to this area...This would all be exotic to me.

I've been to O'Hare airport many times but that was just for connecting flights.
It's worth it to visit if you like fleshy white Christian women.

I was born and bred in barefoot Mississippi, middle school and HS in Oklahoma. A few years in Arkansas, Louisiana and the Northeast of England... my accent is fucked. lol

Was a kid and had full on drawl when we went to WY tho. Now, I've tried to adopt that generic, news anchor thing. Till I start drinking. Or visit family.

Edit to say: But yeah, you can't live here a decade and not pick up Milwaukee-isms.

granted, we are all so different and yet the same on this entire planet - so are you then considered to be from the mid-west ? always wondered about that - geography not being one of my strong suits ... I'm from the east coast - born and bred - been around a bit and like northern Arizona - wouldn't mind Cali either but it is "different" there too ... so much to see just within our borders ... would love to see Montana and Wyoming and the Rockies - been to the Smokies ...

Every state is different but all the people are the same.

Materialistic suburbans dreaming only about the next SUV they're going to get indebted for.

Either that or excessive religious bible thumpers/al qaida.

The whole of usa's majestuous nature is getting littered with lawns and cul-de-sacs as far as the eye can see.

That's the impression I have at least.

Was in 7th grade when we drove from SE OK to Cody, WY. Ha. Didn't think we'd ever get there!, but even then, I remember thinking our holiday pics didn't do it justice. Amazing, natural beauty.

The Smokies/Appalachians are also gorgeous. Family has a cabin outside Gatlinburg that I wish I got to more often. Outside Scotland, it's the greenest green I've ever seen.

Wisco's considered part of the Midwest, yes. ?

so cool, I love the "green" ... I'm not impressed with Gatlinburg itself cause it's too touristy for me but good for children - but yes that area outside of town is the bomb ... and I climbed the Smokies for which I am so proud and humble - it was a very "spiritual" experience for me ...

Ok I unhid it
it was underwhelming....

Well you know I don't hate americans right? some I like more than others wink wink
There's a lot of romantic tension going on between you two for a very long time now. Someone needs to make a move that's of more substance than flirty quotes and winks and blushing emojis all day. You two should meet.

#takeaction #dxpmatchmaker

who?

I'm just flirty with everybody
Don't lie to me, hydorah, that is silly 😛

And I think it would be sweet ❤ it's a good match.

ugghhhh....no....scorpio.......

I don't think Koniucha is very Scorpio-like. She seems kinder & softer

Yes Colorado is another on my list..

🙂

Come one, come all! Healthiest state, one of the most beautiful, lots of jobs, not too crowded, tons of outdoor activity and recreation, friendly Latino community...weed and no one cares what you do as long you're not harming anyone. Not too expensive.

I love anywhere that has beautiful nature and people actively going out to do stuff.

Plus there is snow ?

I really hope I get a chance to vacation there

Do you live there?

Yep. I wouldn't live anywhere except East Coast, West Coast, or Colorado..and I've lived in New England (still a tad bit cold and a slower pace of life), Washington, Oregon, and California..and I would choose Colorado over all those. The nicer areas of California definitely compare but it's easy to get priced out in the most desirable areas. Im from a northern, hilly, mountainous state (Vermont) so it'd be difficult for me to live somewhere that is flat or too hot. It is drier here so that's something that takes getting used to..just have to drink twice the water 🙂

Sounds nice 🙂

How is Vermont? I imagine pretty quite not much to do.. but it looks pretty
