I have family there. My niece specifically.i n a club next to there.

Not trained in emergency medicine.

Not trained I handle this well.

She saw it and fell apart.

It's a tragedy

I can only ask why?

What does one gain from these acts? What fueled them? Why?

Life is so full of contradictions and this is not within mt u understanding.

I'd rather cut the news off and live in my happy bubble.

I haven't even bothered to follow this thread today.

In fact, I haven't really even watched the tv or monitor the
story at all. just some sketchy details
Too busy in another thread and some real world things.

So....
Who wants to tell the truth?

What is known.
1 One shooter. Male, Born in US to parents born in Afghanistan
2 Supporter of ISIS
3 Saw a couple of fruitcakes kissing

Maybe got jealous?

Too many people living in their happy bubble.

Thinking it's ok to do things which are unacceptable.

Example:
2 fruits kiss
a man is enraged (jealousy or disgust)
Shoots up a bowl of fruitloops

According to Syed Shafeeq Rahman, a physician by profession, said he had known the gunman since he was an unruly child running around the mosque.

Mateen was a wild boy, and an imposing young man due to his muscular physique, but Dr Rahman said he had changed in recent years.

"When he was a kid at the Mosque he used to run here and run there and make a lot of problems. Since he was adult, we don't have any problem with him in the mosque. He just comes quietly, prays, and leaves," he said.

"He was quiet in the mosque which was good. Because of the muscular thing and the rumours here and there that he was very aggressive," Dr Rahman continued. "But he might have something in his mind, some anger or some psychological thing."

Dr Rahman said when he heard the news from Orlando, 90 minutes to the West, he prayed that gunman would not be a Muslim, and was shocked when it turned out to be, "not only a Muslim, a Muslim from here."

Dr Rahman said he had not feared Mateen could be radicalised, because he had worked security and gone to the police academy.

"He was working security, he was working for the police department, so we assumed there was a background check. Why would we think anything like that? We were thinking that he might be a safety factor for us," he said.

"Our impression was the family was very pro-American, that they were maybe more aligned with American than us," he added.

This morning, the TV was on the local NBC affiliate — my wife is having a yard sale and wanted to check the weather — and the report was that about 20 people had been killed when a man armed with an assault rifle attacked a gay nightclub in Orlando. However, NBC said nothing about a motive. June is “Gay Pride” month and, honestly, my first thought was, “This is going to be a redneck homophobe.” Expecting the Left would turn this into a political crusade and find some way to blame Republicans, I checked Twitter and was at first doubtful when I saw reports that radical Islam might be the motive. Then the facts started piling up:

Omar Mateen has been named as the gunman involved in the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, CBS News reports.
Police said at least 20 people were killed and about 40 more were wounded in the attack early Sunday morning.
Mateen is a U.S. citizen from Port St. Lucie, Florida, according to CBS News. . . .
Mateen died at the scene after he was shot by police. He had barricaded himself in the nightclub after opening fire. . . .
FBI Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge Ron Hopper said at a press conference that there are “some suggestions” the gunman “may have leanings” toward Jihadist ideology. . . .

Well, the death toll in Orlando is now reported at 50, and liberals are unable to say anything about this without making fools of themselves.

DONALD J. TRUMP STATEMENT REGARDING TRAGIC TERRORIST ATTACK IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA

Last night, our nation was attacked by a radical Islamic terrorist. It was the worst terrorist attack on our soil since 9/11, and the second of its kind in 6 months. My deepest sympathy and support goes out to the victims, the wounded, and their families.

In his remarks today, President Obama disgracefully refused to even say the words 'Radical Islam'. For that reason alone, he should step down. If Hillary Clinton, after this attack, still cannot say the two words 'Radical Islam' she should get out of this race for the Presidency.

If we do not get tough and smart real fast, we are not going to have a country anymore. Because our leaders are weak, I said this was going to happen – and it is only going to get worse. I am trying to save lives and prevent the next terrorist attack. We can't afford to be politically correct anymore.

The terrorist, Omar Mir Saddique Mateen, is the son of an immigrant from Afghanistan who openly published his support for the Afghanistani Taliban and even tried to run for President of Afghanistan. According to Pew, 99% of people in Afghanistan support oppressive Sharia Law.

We admit more than 100,000 lifetime migrants from the Middle East each year. Since 9/11, hundreds of migrants and their children have been implicated in terrorism in the United States.

Hillary Clinton wants to dramatically increase admissions from the Middle East, bringing in many hundreds of thousands during a first term – and we will have no way to screen them, pay for them, or prevent the second generation from radicalizing.

We need to protect all Americans, of all backgrounds and all beliefs, from Radical Islamic Terrorism - which has no place in an open and tolerant society. Radical Islam advocates hate for women, gays, Jews, Christians and all Americans. I am going to be a President for all Americans, and I am going to protect and defend all Americans. We are going to make America safe again and great again for everyone.

Those words from Trump (above and below quoted) - sourced from his Facebook wall.

"We need to protect all Americans, of all backgrounds and all beliefs, from Radical Islamic Terrorism - which has no place in an open and tolerant society. Radical Islam advocates hate for women, gays, Jews, Christians and all Americans. I am going to be a President for all Americans, and I am going to protect and defend all Americans. We are going to make America safe again and great again for everyone."

He points out that "Radical" Islamic teachings advocates hate for:
Women
Homosexuals
Jews
Christians
as well as all Americans (in general)

His words are actually supporting those groups.

Surat Al-MÄ'idah (The Table Spread) - سورة المائدة

5:32

Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors.

Funny how the fruits and nuts were here today gone tomorrow.

Even Trump continued to express solidarity with the LGBT crowd.

Going so far as flying flag half-staff on his facebook page.

And everybody hates him. Saying he's just patronizing. Maybe, but Hillary's doin the same thing.

IMHO, Trump's support moves waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay left of traditional conservatism.
Should never have been any wonder as to why the conservatives don't like him.

Oh they're blaming guns again, typical.

No one in that nightclub had a gun except the gunman and 50 people still died.

This may come off as a bit too logical for some, but if someone else had a gun, 50 people wouldn't have died. Same thing with the shootings in Paris. No one there had a gun except the shooters, but 100 people still died. The police arrived afterwards.

Yeah after 100 people died. ***Head palm***

Yes, what they really needed was for a 100+ scared people to have assault rifles so when the gunman started shooting, everyone could pull out their own firearm and start wilding spraying bullets into the crowd possibly causing even more deaths.

How so? Hate crime and domestic terrorism have overlapping definitions. The latter is something you almost never saw in print. They were mostly "mentally unstable" white men. It wasn't until brown men started joining in on the fun that the words "domestic terrorism" started getting put in print. Liberals aren't the fools too busy sucking off the NRA to wanna do something about misuse of assault weapons.

No they're not the fools sucking off the NRA.

But that's ok.
You wanna piss someone off who's holdin' a gun. Don't come cryin' to me if they pop a cap in yer soon to be sorry azz.

Oh.. and hey... there are 100,000 more traffic fatalities than there are victims of firearms over the space of about 10 years.
And for what it's worth, banning assault weapons will not stop another mass shooting or terrorist attack.
If someone's determined to fall out of the cuckoo tree and bring down a few cuckoos with him/her (he-she), whatever, hey, there's no
stoppin' em, is there?

Cunanan was nutty as a fruitcake and he didn't use a gun to kill all his victims.

Disagree. Regulate ammo and all of a sudden it becomes harder to use these things for sport. And don't even get me started on the people stocking up for a revolution or a race war or a zombie apocalypse or whatever floats their boat. You guys are a whole other kind up crazy. Actually, it makes them exactly like the people they're trying to protect themselves from. Right down to their messed up ideologies. "The shots did not sound like a regular handgun, it sounded like it was shooting

repetitively and it wouldn't stop," he said.

'... the Orlando Regional Medical Center was placed on lockdown, the hospital said

in a statement. Only essential workers are being allowed access into the building. '

Only 'essential workers' are being allowed into the building, due to caution?

Wtf are the victims radioactive?

And yeah, gun laws would have totally stopped this.

Just like they stopped all the violence in Europe.

That's sarcasm. ^
When there are tighter gun laws, people will use other types of guns. They keep focusing on the AR-15 but the majority of shootings have been done with handguns. And I really don't see how it is a major advantage to use an AR-15 in a public shooting, other than the number of rounds you can fire without having to reload. Its a disadvantage in ways because it is harder to conceal (just how did he get in a club with this anyway). Ban that, and people will just find ways to make or illegally get extended mags that hold up to 50 rounds, or use multiple legal handguns w/extended mags that hold up to 20 rounds, etc. Ban guns in general and people will build bombs and do more damage.

Pretty much.

Where there's a will...

'... just how did he get in a club with this anyway'

Great question.

Looks like we have 2fer1 political pitch-a-fit fest this election, this morning. Not only gun control but hey, why not throw in
an nice anti-gay-bashing-with-a-gun message in the mix as well.

You just watch, that's where the discussion focus is going to go
You can count on CNN to have up to the minute play by play.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/12/us/orlando-nightclub-shooting/index.html
Its a 3fer1. Terrorism issue also.

Well, Donald DID warn about this sort of thing happening, again, last fall, didn't he.
That's where the Muslim thing kicked up a notch.

The Democrats were enraged. Republicans scared even more.
Neither side likes Donald.

Thing is I hit the hay when I posted this thread. I had not seen anything said
about the identification of the shooter.

And didn't really care to wait to find out, knowing full well that it would be known soon.
When it turned out to be a Muslim, hey.... why not? We live in a free country, might as well be interesting.

Yes it just goes to show how little you know about weapons. You do realize many weapons use the same exact cartridge and caliper as the AR? You disagree because you don't have the wisdom to know the bigger picture at this point in your life. Again, there are many, many assault weapons ALREADY in law abiding citizens hands. Ban new sales, and the price just goes up for the used ones that transfer between individuals.

Caliber, not "Caliper".

Now the fact that there are "many, many, many" assault weapons in law abiding citizen's hands, yet few attacks, goes to show that it's not the gun, it's the nut job, holding it
that commits the crime.

People need to figure out the reasons behind what pushes people to go off the deep end.

Muslims who practice the greater jihad "may" pursue the lesser jihad.

Homosexuality is wrong. it is a deviant sexual perversion. And it's an abomination and unnatural.
When a person of faith is being forced, by law, to accept homosexuality as "normal" and worse, homosexual "marriage" as normal....
they are being forced to accept something that is contrary with their beliefs, there is going to be friction and someone's going to crack.
Mateen cracked.
Was it because of his faith or was he a closet queen who couldn't stand himself? Who knows.
It's been reported that he had gone to Saudi Arabia, once or twice. The FBI knew about this guy and hadn't confronted him, namely because
the laws written, may have prevented them from doing so.
Then again, this IS a liberal presidency.

The shooter apparently had divorced and re-married. The wife has been arrested and is being questioned. As of this writing, I don't know if
she's been released or detained.

Was Mateen a closet queen? Who knows, but that rhymes.

But hey, he was a Scorp Sun / Taurus Moon.

There is zero logic to anyone owning an automatic weapon.

Zero.
Who owns automatic weapons?

Anyone who pays the tax and files for a Class III firearms license. Mainly for dealers, but owners have to have this in order to own automatic weapons. This has been the case since 1934:

Now, I am interested to see if the weapon was modified, but the sound on those recordings sounds like it was semi-automatic.

Correction, owners don't necessarily have to have the Class 3 license, but they still have to pay the tax and the firearm is registered to the owner.

Food for thought....

Food for thought makes for shit for brains

Seeing they offer you a pie chart
If you don't like it here, pick a slice you would like to move to. It's not hard.

People do it all the time. They don't like where they live, they pack up and move.

You all can live in fear of guns, mass shootings and all, but who's to say that you won't die of some
STD or get hit by a car, maybe someone comes at ya with a knife and quick as a whistle begins to
slice.
