Reopening.. —?

So how are you all feeling about this? I know some people that think the virus is bullshit.. and others that are completely freaked out. My county reopened for phase 1 last Friday, so about a week and a half ago. So when we were closed, we had a total of 50 cases, and no deaths. Now as of today there are 60. So 10 in 10 days? It’s like everyone was going stir crazy and the doors have been opened on our cages and they run amok.

This singles/social group I belong to was going have a meetup for a reopening of a restaurant today.. 8 people signed up.. I was going to go, but I’m not sure 🤔 does this make sense? It’s one thing going with a person you know well or perhaps a date that you’ve had full on conversations with. But people you’ve had no contact with for months? Ya I’m not going.

I want things to go back to normal, but shouldn’t we error with caution? Like tiptoe out and see what happens first?

Here in California they are opening small cities in northern Cali but the Bay Area will be last, similar to Southern California. They are now shooting for 4th of July. We are in phases. But it they catch wind of you guys doing it by July 20th, they will probably change it. They seem to follow the crowd in the most affected states. Only the states with low numbers are being cleared, from what I can see, at least.

11 states have had an uptick in cases. Saturday, throughout the world, there were more cases reported than any day since the virus started (Mexico, Russia, and South America are blowing up). They did a random testing in France and Spain and despite their relatively high numbers of deaths since the virus started, it only had infected 5 and 4% of the population. During the Spanish flu, the second wave killed the most people when restrictions were lifted to celebrate the end of WW1. I'm gonna maintain similar living to the last 2 months for June and not be a Guinea pig to potentially infect others

I'm going to become reclusive long-term and am scheming ways to get to the beach without breathing anyone's air.

Well I’ve been going on walks around the town but have tried to stay clear of others air. I did go to a restaurant yesterday ( outside patio seating only) with one other person. Did the same a week ago. But a whole group? I’m I guess on the tiptoe theory & see what happens theory.

Netherlands will really be kind of back to normal from next month. We're only allowed to meet with 3 people max in public so I'm good with that. Will not hit the restaurants when open though... Maybe wait a few weeks, but friendgroup/familu has the same attitude so it's easy.

Just do whatever feels best for you. Not really enjoyable if you're gonna be worrying through dinner.

It was ok. There are restrictions .. restaurants and hair salons can open if they follow conditions.

For Oregon: The cases won’t be upticking directly due to reopening until 14-21 days since.

Right now is probably already sick people finally showing symptoms.

Everyone in town has been acting atrocious but when I went to the outdoor spaces it was nice.

So I’m back to chilling at home for however long. Probably til the end of summer if I get my way.

I still wear a mask and bring sanitizer and gloves wherever I go in public and try to avoid people.

Most other people seem to treat it as business as usual.

Hardly anyone is wearing masks here. Restaurant employees have to. It’s the weirdest thing. Disposable menus, only outside seating. I guess you’re right.. we are seeing people get tested perhaps because there is more availability for testing? Yes it’s like everyone is going back to normal! These are older people too!! I think I’ll just go for a walk later to get some sunshine 😉 my hair dresser is not back yet, but her salon is open. I guess I’m going grey 😂😂🤪

My work opened up last Monday with 25 people there. I’m still at home. Oh I think it is a recommendation on the miles. Was that for phase 1 or this weekend? Is your county open?

I think it's fine as long as it's done safely with precautions in place (depending on where you live). That pool party however in Missouri was foolish...

I am getting nervous because wipes are non existent here and I’m still wiping down my groceries and packages.

When it comes to grocery shopping...the items you don’t need for a few days you should just leave them in their packaging either in the hallway/garage if you have one. Bacteria won’t survive after a few days, it’s only the essential stuff to wipe down or you can still wash some items (if wrapped in plastic) with dish soap.

Ive completely stopped cleaning like this now, it’s better to build immune.

Yeah I think workplaces are exempt just social gatherings have to be under 10. We opened on the 15th.

My boyfriend air travelled 1,000+ miles last week [for work]. He said the connecting city airports were PACKED but the actual destination airports (one was Tampa which is usually a tourist destination) he went to were damn near abandoned.

Domestic air travel within the US has been open this whole time for the most part, with the exception of any sort of travel (air or car) to/from Louisiana (though that restriction has been lifted for the most part).

I've been going outside and in public every single day for the last 5 months. With no mask or sanitizer. I do was my hands at home regularly, and always have. I can 100% say its nowhere near as bad or contagious as your leaders wanted you to believe. Its literally a borderline hoax. The fact they even closed everything was stupid af. First of all it forced everyone to get even closer due to only places like Walmart and Kroger being open. That alone was a sign that people are idiots. Pandemic or not closing shit was the worst idea. They should have kept everything open and if people wanted to be paranoid and actually believe it was bad, then they would have the right to wear masks and stay at home. Secondly majority of the death toal was deaths that weren't even covid-19 related. Why don't people talk about that? Then in the middle of all this the Pentagon admits they recorded a ufo, and then we got murder hornets. But those hoax died out within a week because they aren't as "cool" as a covid-19 pandemic. Are you kidding me? How can people not see how fake this shit is? Do you even know how many billions the large corporations made off this shit?

Income wise, unemployment is a paycut but probably more than I would make working during this.

We had an uptick in cases lately because there is more required testing. It was just announced that 44% of new cases last week had zero symptoms. That concerns me too. I'm not worried about catching it but I am worried about bringing it home to my diabetic son.

I say keep everything closed until people can learn the measurement that is 6 feet apart, how to wear a mask without bitching about it, and grasping their head around science. A bunch of daft headed folks in management positions and even worse when they’re young bloods thinking they’re invincible and have no empathy for those lives lost. RIP to my grandma and to the strangers whom I never knew but were loved by others.

In West Australia, we are lucky to have only suffered 9 deaths. It should be zero. My heart hurts for America and all the countries suffering unimaginable loss. I'm kinda in agreement with you on this. I still been going out while this coronavirus was in effect and still going out right now whenever I need to. Thing is I did actually became sick and I did felt symptoms from covid. I just quarentine myself and that took care of the situation. And found myself still back at it doing the same thing as I always been doing after I became well.

You remind me of this dad who screamed at me when I told him kindly and with compassion that his family can't come to visit because of the FAKE virus lmao. He escalated the entire 2 weeks in the unit, bragged about his guns and ended up flipping out and attempting to unplug his son's machines keeping him alive in the ICU.

Little did he know, he was under more risk than he ever could be in his little po dunk town. In the same unit, 5 patients were in strict isolation for covid exposure. 3 of them later brought to a FULL SDI unit one floor below for positive results. The other ICUs were bringing up patients from the ED left and right past me for weeks on end as ALL of us (not just RNs and MDs) worked our asses off right down to the environmental service techs.

Tell us all how fake it is as they are STILL coming in and will be after all these protests are settle lmao

Do it. I've yet to cry at a funeral, and have no true attachments to anything in life. I don't feel sad when things die, so the reverse psychology doesn't work on me. I'm not deeply attached to anything, just attached to the single moments and ready to let go of it at any moment. I also know you are misinformed about the situation. It's not your fault though, many people are being misinformed.

I would call it natural causes. Imo they probably had something else altogether, and they claimed it was Corona to make their numbers look good. Even of if was Corona, that doesn't change the fact it doesn't matter to me or my life, and that it isn't dangerous to the majority of humans. Just a selected few. Even if it did matter to my life, I would still embrace fate with open arms. Its not that deep or world ending though.

I was surprised to see a group of people sitting outside of a restaurant mingling with one another without masks.

Though my area has a very low incident rate so maybe they aren't overly concerned.

Something seems fishy about it all. The major news networks seem to care little about frightening everyone over "good ratings". Some are reporting that hospitals have incentives to report that deaths were caused by the virus, which leaves things open to fraud.

It seems like the biggest concern was being able to treat people, and now it seems like the capabilities are there. So, why not open up and see how it goes.

Once the year is over it will be proven to be no more lethal then any other flu like sickness. People have been said to be more likely to die from the ventilators then the actual sickness. Let that sink in for a moment. They acted like it was super contagious, which its not, and like it would wipe out humanity, which it didn't. It's a microscopic pandemic the history books won't even mention.

Statistically a few hundred thousand died from covid. Logically shutting down the country saved lives. With that logic millions die from car accidents yearly, so we should shut down the automotive industry too. Am I wrong?

Soul, if everything would have been open, we would be seeing a hell of a lot more than 100,000 deaths.

My point isn't that other people don't matter. If people got it and died that sucks. My point its not even 1% of the population. Or even close to that. Once the year is over it will be proven to be no more lethal then any other flu like sickness. People have been said to be more likely to die from the ventilators then the actual sickness. Let that sink in for a moment. They acted like it was super contagious, which its not, and like it would wipe out humanity, which it didn't. It's a microscopic pandemic the history books won't even mention.

Statistically a few hundred thousand died from covid. Logically shutting down the country saved lives. With that logic millions die from car accidents yearly, so we should shut down the automotive industry too. Am I wrong?

That's really short-sighted and antigenerational. It's a pathetic display of some loser's anti-survival.

About reopenings, the child in me was furious when pools stayed closed on Memorial Day, although I know nobody has any business going swimming in a public pool at a time like this.

I think this epidemic will end up lasting us at least a year total. People were expecting the 'Rona to go on for anywhere from a couple weeks to a few months, but this wasn't just any old short-lived swine flu, ebola or SARS outbreak as seen in years past. The death toll is almost unbelievable.

Phase 2 starts tomorrow.. btw swimming pools are included.

Things are re-opening here today. I think the virus is going to spike again, but I can't say I'm unhappy to be able to enjoy the warm weather in ways I couldn't during quarantine. I imagine that if I lived with someone, or was someone, in a high-risk category that it would be a bit scary, though.
