How do you tell if a guy has feelings for you but is trying to hid it?
I think it would be better if you could tell us what this guy is doing and we can tell you if he likes you.
What's the point of liking someone if you plan to hide it? But then I think, "Oh wait! That's modern dating". I personally wouldn't want someone like that, but if you like him, you should show him so that he may get over whatever insecurities he has and makes a move.
The most likely real situation here is that he's not interested and acting like he's not interested .... but, because you have feelings and therefore want him to have feelings for you, you then lie to yourself (and whomever you say this to).
You tell yourself he's just hiding .... when really, it's just you being delusional.
What if he has a "hurt/emotional" look on his face when speaking to you?

I am not sure if what I am about to say is important for the topic but I guess there is a lot of bs going on in the american culture when it comes to dating and men in general.
Women are told by wannabe dating coaches that if a man doesn't ask them out or does not pursue then he is not interested. I think that's bullshit. Men who really care for a woman can be insecure and cautious as well even though he might be known as a womanizer. It's a lot easier to chase a hot stranger woman in order to have sex with her than to pursue a woman you really care for, that's why many women get confused once a man chases und fucks them and then leaves. They were told a man who pursues is interested but he might just wanted to have sex. I can pursue a woman like forever if I am only interested in having sex with her, because her rejection does not hurt me. But there are men outthere who only ask a woman out once maybe twice and if she doesn't reciprocate his advances, due to playing hard to get or whatever she has been told to do, then those men move on, because they have to.
