Is it rship if no sex?

This topic was created in the Relationships forum by Gemitati on Thursday, October 24, 2019 and has 42 replies.

Understanding if a Relationship Exists Without Sex

A relationship can still be genuine without sex if there is emotional connection, trust, and mutual affection. Not all relationships involve physical intimacy, and they can be valid based on the individuals' needs and boundaries. Communication is key to understanding each other's expectations and defining what the relationship means.

Psychology says that if two people don't have sex at least once in a two weeks then they start to loose bound. (It's said by one of most famous polish sexuologist - Zbigniew Lew-Starowicz)

What if they hadn’t started? How long is platonic dating can last?

So you do shit together and kiss...no sex.

Is this rship or what?

Not all people in romantic relationships have sex. Asexual people can still love.

As friends?

How the fuck do you get "friends" from "ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP?

I’ve just asked. I don’t know what makes romantic if there is no sex. Coffee and flowers?

Emotions, Love, the desire to be with that person.

Sex does not equal romance.

I don't completely understand Asexual. So if they are Asexual but romantic, what exactly does that mean?

Is it more of a roommate situation? Dinner, dancing, night out on the town, and then coming home to their respective rooms and ending the night?

wut? No.

Asexual folks still sleep in the same bed, cuddle, kiss, love each other..

Some actually have sex, but not because they enjoy it.. but to please their partners.

Some do have sex, but rarely.. either from the lack of urge, or like me.. I think about sex but I don't particularly care for the physical act itself.

And then there are those that are absolutely repulsed by sex.

It's a spectrum. Just because a couple doesn't have sex, doesn't mean they can't be romantic.

Perhaps they go to sleep in the same bed, talking and cuddling, but don't have sex.

Oh, I was wondering if they even feel the need to cuddle or be affectionate. Guess I left that part out.

Okay so it pretty much means that you may lack or have faint absence of sexual attraction, sexual interest or will to partake in sexual activity- but it can vary on a broad spectrum.

Romantic gestures are not inextricably linked to sexual activity, they could be what you usually expect; kissing, touching, cuddling and whatnot. Anything to spend time with significant other involving the emotions, feelings with their significant other. It's not like celibacy or abstinence in any margin, for people who might confuse it for these too.

However, asexuality can fall into a broad spectrum; i.e. grey sexuality, demisexual, grey ace, i.e. It's all how they define themselves and the relationship. But to keep it general;

Can you have a romantic relationship without sex? - yes

Does romance involve sex? - no

Can asexual people be romantic? - yes

Is sex important in a relationship - depends on what see as important

I just saw the chart that dazed put up. It would be nothing that I would ever be able to relate to since I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum.

There are so many breakdowns of sexuality nowadays, it's headsplitting.

But thanks for explaining this to me as well.

That's not much to say that you don't know yourself.

You've been married for 25 yrs. In my case, I've been his work wifey for 20 yrs. My office is next to his. We started as supervisor and his married student. After my divorce, I had other relationships, and so did he. We are not used to see each other in a sexual way. It would feel like sleeping with your sibling.

Why are we living together? Practically, I invited myself into his house three years ago and never left. I was fed up with men and dating. Am I selfish? I don't think so. My house it's far prettier than his. We are similar in many ways, so it's easy to get along. Am I happy? Happy is my middle name.... little to do with men. What does the future holds? No sex with each other, that's a given. Otherwise who knows... he's a triple mutable, I'm a double 😄

That's all.
