I haven't watched it, and don't plan too. Seeing the name of the show everywhere become annoying. They even opened a Squid Game cafe in Paris where people would queue for 6+ hours. This hysteria needs to stop.

Do you tend to lead more toward exclusivity?

I’m happy it’s everywhere. These Korean actors deserve the attention.

I like that we are seeing quality programming even if it's being hyped to hell and back. I want to see more, no matter where it comes from. If it happens to be korea, africa, europe or murica all the better.

Lol. It’s okay to celebrate the Koreans without all actors mattering them.

Not even tempted by what appears to be another game-based, non-story. Like fake reality TV with added special effects.

I'd probably get more of a kick by imagining the room will blow off if I don't finish my task in 30 min 😛

Eh, the show is half way there. The rooms don't quite blow up though.

I watched the preview but I thought it was going to be ridiculously violent and graphic, so I passed.

Is it really violent?

Like...The Platform....I just couldn't deal with the grotesqueness and violence. Hunger games

If it is more like Hunger Games, I could probably get thru it.

Hunger games but more realistic

I enjoyed it. Unfortunately had to watch it in dubbed English which I'm sure took away from the original but it was still good.

It reminded me of a mix between Hunger Games and The Purge movies.

And jigsaw..

But what I like about this game, it is voluntary, unlike hunger games where the children are forced to play... at least they signed up for this game on their own free will and were given a choice to continue or quit in the beginning..

I've never seen jigsaw.

Lol, they could have explained the rules better b4 Red light green light 🤣

But they did say they could leave if the majority agreed....its funny that they went back in tho after they were out..like wtf 🤣

Agree.. i'd opt to walk out even before red light green light.. i mean you were gassed in a car then transported to God knows where.. that's literally getting kidnapped, wtf?? 🤣🤣🤣

Why stay? 😆

Just binged on it... 9 episodes in one sitting, it's a great show, imo

https://www.netflix.com/title/81040344

The ending was "meh" and there is no way the main character is a Scorp....

The most unrealistic part of the movie, tbh.

But seriously, I lol’d when it was revealed that he was a Scorp.

I agree that the ending was just ok. Wish he’d just gotten on the plane.

A similar dystopian survival show that I actually enjoyed a lot more is “Alice in Borderland”.

I tried watching it but couldn't get past the bad syncing of the dubbed English. I guess I could just watch it cc. I might try again.

I had to try 3 times to get past the first 25-30 minutes. Kept getting distracted and thought it can't be that good if it can't hold my attention for 5 minutes. Once it picks up though, if you can ignore the poor dubbing, it's much more entertaining.

Wow!!! This is the first notification that I've ever gotten from you! I'm shocked! Usually I'm on seek and find missions hoping I haven't missed anyone who's quoted me lol

I will try it again when I'm not busy. I did enjoy the violence. It was surprising, clever and dramatic.

Huh? No idea! I was talking about how I motivate myself irl to finish a task early....that a bomb is ticking and will blow off after the minimum amount of time allocated for that task. For me, the squid games would probably be as dull as this 🙂

Haha, curious why did you find it funny he was a Scorp? Actually, it was because he didn't get on the plane that I convinced me he wasn't a Scorp lol. The red hair didn't help either...The writers just threw that specific birthdate out there because it sounded cool 😄. They had 30 other days in the season to choose from, yet they chose that which tells me it was intentional.

I'll check out "Alice..."

Agreed. The good Scorpios out there would do their utter best, literally break their bones and sacrifice themselves to help people, especially people they care about in dangerous situations. The good Scorpios I know are very kind hearted and compassionate. I used to think that all Scorpios were bad news considering both my parents are Scorpios and my mother is an abusive narcissist and my dad abandoned me and was a pathological liar. But it was only until I met really kind hearted and the nice Scorpios that my perspective and opinion of them changed. It just goes to show, every single astrology sign has it's good and bad apples.

Agreed, as an Asian person, I'm very proud that we are being given opportunities to prove our value in media, especially in acting. It's really nice and evolutionary.

I watched the trailer and felt evil vibes from it. It’s disturbing the things that we consider “entertainment”. I liked thriller type shows and movies when I was younger but now they just make my anxiety worse. Lol

You know to first thought it would be like those saw movies which I find senseless and I’m not into gruesome cutting ect

But this was actually well made and not like those saw movies.

It's really good. It had such amazing acting and plot imo. I'm kind of glad I watched it after seeing a clip of the first game on Facebook. Right then I knew I needed to watch it before more was spoiled for me lol. Finished it 4 days ago and still can't stop thinking about it. Episode 6 had me losing my marbles in every way possible lmao!

I watched it because of the hype and I did not like it. I thought the ending would at least make up for all the suffering but no. 😆

The movie reminds me a bit of the Japanese movie Battle Royale.

I haven't watched it, but heard that kids at a primary school in Belgium are duplicating a certain game that's common to play at playground and it became very violent after they watched the show.

Same situations in UK and France. This hype is bad...

How violent is it?

I read that about UK too

Yeah, I'm all for entertainment and kick back with a nice beer. But that playground stuff is getting ridiculous

With all the shootings in the USA, especially the schools, i don’t see how this is entertaining? Maybe people are becoming desensitized to violence and killing...glad I’m not...

Just watching that short YouTube clip shows what a sinister show it is 😮

It's actually a show about evil rich people who are so rich and bored that the games are a type of entertainment. They bet on the players like horses.

I've watched the 1st 2 episodes over xmas and so far I am underwhelmed. The acting is kind of weak. The main character is very good. Does it get better? I thought I'd really love it but Im not that into it so far and not sure if I cba to watch the rest

it gets better. if you dont like it by episode 5 or 6 then its prob not for you, of course at that point you may as well just finish it because you've watched a lot of it already.
