Your nickname makes me wanna say selfcare is cavemantime. Some man can afford a mans cave,

the rest of us has to lift weights, or watch ufc, have a guys night out, talk shit in a bar etc.

Spending time in nature and not spending time online, working out, is true

selfcare for me.

All those things are important to a guy. Sometimes, doing our own thing in the garage or maybe in the backyard is just as important to me. Some music, some power tools, some alcohol. No rush to do the job.

That's why it's important to get out of the house as much as possible. I'm lucky enough that I can be both in the city and outside at a moment's notice.

Listen to yourself often and reflect

Cultivate humility

Drink water

Learn often

Moisturize your skin, all of it

Attend to the particulars: hair, nails, teeth, pits, undercarriage

Be physical at a minimum semi-regularly.

Eat real food

Make time for connection

Don't sweat the small stuff

Spend time and money on you

Find time to be in solace

Find/build a community worth providing and protecting for and then hold yourself accountable to that community.

Not sweating the small stuff is what keeps you alive longer than anything else on the list.

A good sleeping schedule. It's tough for some, especially myself. Nothing is more miserable then staying up all night and sleeping all day though. I feel like any improvement in life starts with a good sleep schedule. I don't even mean sleeping 8 hours every night. Simply just making sure you are sleeping most of the night, and awake during the day. Once you have that down you have the entire day to work on goals, priorities, and getting your life together.

I live a little further away than just the suburbs. But I still have access to roots outside of San Antonio, Texas.

When I want the commotion and job prospects, I work in the city. When I want peace, quiet and tranquility - I leave the city to go to rural communities around me. I have the best of both worlds and that's why I consider myself blessed beyond measure.

Holy fuck you are blessed, you have caribbean nature at your doorstep. Makes me sad,

that I am so attached to my hometown which is ugly except its people. Also is it true

that texas cities are growing so massively that you can drive for three hours to get to another

part of the city?

Having some interests/hobbys that you're fanatical and nerdy about and that require a lot of effort on your part to fully enjoy them. Like some dude with his model trainset in the basement, or reading all of the classic novels or getting really good and an instrument, or playing a sport for a social team, whatever it is, do your best and you'll feel great.

My latest self care was a project to build a very retro PC and make it look like new. In the process i had to nick 3 swollen caps from the GPU, 3 from the motherboard and all from the power unit and replace them. The $ 200 project was a success. 1/3 of the $ went toward the repairs.

Probs my most satisfying thing i've done in a while. All to play thru 25 year anniversary Half-Life on period correct hardware. 😎

I don't know about so big is the amount of traffic. Some cities geographically are large, but it's the traffic that takes an hour to an hour and a half to drive across. But that's the worst it gets. We're nowhere near as bad as other states and their traffic.

What is true however is that you can go from sunup to sundown driving 112 kph and still be in the state of Texas.

You're not going to like this, but I just threw out in the dumpster a computer that was perfectly functional 25 years ago! 🤣
