I had an uncle who would give me sloppy kisses on my cheek and turns out he's a pedophile & possibly has partakin in incest. Ever since then I don't allow the kiss or a hug. Some ppl take it too far and look how we have so many ppl that are pedophiles and parkin in incest. Look at Hollywood and how everything is comin to light everybody is not the same when it comes to innocent affection. Some family members didn't think my uncle was one until the proof showed otherwise ppl change and ppl grow up and I feel at some age it has to stop, but hey for sum it's harmless just beware.

I kiss my mum on the lips sometimes, it's no different than kissing her on the cheek or forehead.

I kiss my brother on the cheek when I see him but not on the lips because I didn't grow up kissing him on the lips lol

It's not weird to kiss your parents and show affection for fucks sake it just shows that you're close, half you cunts have never even seen your parents naked, I see my mum naked all the time

For those people who do kiss their children on the lips, why there? Why not the head or the cheek?
Why not?
Bacteria?
There’s bacteria everywhere.

True so why would you place one of the dirtiest areas on your body on the mouth of your child when there are other places to show affection.

Surely people wouldn't want those child to get sick? Or is that just my way of thinking?

For it!

"Claiming behaviors such as kissing the baby provide not only emotional but biological attachment. There is also a very real health benefit for the baby in terms of kissing. "When a mother kisses her baby, she 'samples' those pathogens that are on the baby's face - the very ones that the baby is about to ingest. These samples are taken up by the mother's secondary lympoid organs like the tonsils, and memory B cells specific for those pathogens are re-stimulated. These B cells then migrate to the mother's breasts where they produce just those antibodies that the baby needs!" (1)"

Unless you have herpes, then you should probably not kiss your children.

I understand your concern about germs but children need them to build their immune system. Generally speaking our mouths aren’t that full of bacteria that kissing will cause kids to get sick anyway.

Actually our mouths are the dirtiest place on out body.

https://www.boldsky.com/health/wellness/2015/eight-dirtiest-places-on-your-body-079356.html

What about herpes or flu? Mono?

Sure immunity is important. Giving them a respiratory illness not so much.

I don't understand why people would vehemently defend a practice when there are other, safer options available.

I mean would you feed your child raw chicken or allow them to eat from the garbage? Both those things would aid in immunity.

Adults can get the flu, herpes or mono too so I don’t understand your point.

The mouth may be the dirtiest place on the body but that doesn’t mean they’re as dangerous as raw chicken or garbage. If they were an equivalent then why didn’t all the kids in our family get sick all the time?

Children can die from the flu.

Would you like your child to have herpes and mono can make them very unwell.

Sure they can get it but would you as a parent wish to give it to them?

The mouth is dirtier than a toilet seat.

Again it goes back to my point, when there are safer, just as good alternatives that still allows your child to feel loved and cherished why stick adamantly to that?

I raise the raw chicken and garbage because you're talking about immunity. Parents don't like children eating things off the floor however will willingly and knowing share illnesses with them.

Why is germs coming from the mouth acceptable and bacteria coming from the floor not?

Adults can die from the flu as well. If someone has the flu they shouldn’t be kissing adults let alone children.

Of course I don’t want my children to have herpes or mono, what a stupid question. If I had herpes or mono I wouldn’t be kissing anyone.

Why are you assuming just because people kiss their kids on the lips they aren’t kissing them on the cheek or head either? Most likely they kiss them there as well as the lips.

“The mouth is dirtier than a toilet seat”

Woopdee doo! So what? It doesn’t change the fact that kissing kids on the lips isn’t going to make them sick generally speaking. If it did, all of us who got kissed on the lips as kids would’ve been sick all the time.

Kids do eat stuff off the floor, and it helps build their immune system. I don’t think it’s a big deal if I drop some food on the ground, I’ll just pick it up and eat it. It’s not like kids are having full on meals on the ground.

I wanna know who these parents are who a willingly and knowing sharing their illnesses with their children. I’m willing to bet they are a far and few in between. My mum and dad never kissed me if they were sick. It was plain common sense.

I think there is a difference in the immunity systems of a young child and an adult. Do you not agree?

I also don't kiss my siblings on the mouth. Do you?

Then i hope to god you dont ever kiss another person you are dating on the mouth ever again.cause its gross AF.

Yeah. Good luck explaining that one to the next person you date! ***EYEROLL***

Kissing a partner on the mouth is more than just affection. It is about increasing arousal, sharing hormonal information, receiving indications about healthiness for reproduction purposes.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/let-their-words-do-the-talking/201212/odd-facts-about-kissing

Is this required information from your child?

Do you kiss your siblings on the mouth?

Why is it OK to kiss a baby on the mouth but not a young adult?

Why do some people kiss one parent on the mouth but not the other?

Would you kiss other children on the mouth or is it just your own?

I'm not saying any of this is wrong or right but at what point does the act change meaning and why?

------

Ultimately this is a discussion about culture. Some cultures do, some don't. My family culture didn't and science lends itself to me that there is no benefit to kissing children or parents on the mouth.

I think it's cultural arrogance to think that only the way you do things is the correct way and everyone else is foolish and misguided.

People will continue kissing their kids on the mouth (or eating food off the floor) and I'll continue to think it's gross. We all have standards in cleanliness. I'm willing to accept my standards for cleanliness is greater than others.

I don't understand why as a person who chooses not to kiss my kids on the mouth, I am deemed irrational, unloved by my parents or shouldn't even have been born? What is there to be so defensive about?

I'm a mother, and I kiss my daughters on the lips and cheeks all the time. I even kissed their toes, feet, and hands when they were babies. I don't understand how this is gross, they're your child. They grew inside of me, I've cared for them, I love them with all of my heart, and I will kiss them on the lips until they are big. Those are some of the only actions I can do to exhibit my love and admiration for them.

I find it fucking sad if your kid gets to see their parent showing affection to the other parent but they dont get the same affection. Kids need way more love and affection than other adults do ffs.

I can imagine...Fast forward to adulthood..."My mom would kiss my dad but never me. I only ever got a quick emotionless pec on the forehead"

Some people shouldnt breed. IMHO.

Affection that comes with limits is the quickest way to fuck up your children. Just saying. Obviously people need to use common sense so lets not get all stupid and ridiculous arguing my point now.

No. I believe she's saying; if you don't have children the idea of kissing your children is hard to grasp. Because it's a material love, that none other than a mother can have for her children. Pretty f'n beautiful if you ask me.

Regarding the germ aspect: Spoiler! If you have a weak stomach!

I share dirty forks, half empty beer bottles, left over sammiches etc. with the people in my life I truly love. I guess the love overcomes the fear. Because I've never caught herpes, mono, hairy leukoplakia or even ass-to-mouth aids. Hell, I've only been sick four times in the last 15 years...

But I still have my tonsils. So. YMMV.

I peck kiss ALL of my family on the lips. Mum, dad, uncles.... aunts.... grannies and grandpas

It's greeting them ffs.

They must think we fully make out with them or something.

I agree, its so weird that people will read into it as anything else. Those complaining about bacteria must brush and rinse before they kiss their other half EVERY time.

I admit, I brush my teeth a lot and try to keep my mouth as clean as I can. I consider it a sign of respect.

I brush mine around 3 times a day, morning, after lunch and before bed. But the way some are going on about dirty mouths etc. I am surprised humans have sex and show any affection with romantic kissing.

As I mentioned I am happy to kiss my family members even close friends and most certainly show affection to my little ones so if they want a kiss on the lips they will get them :-)

But I do understand each to their own and no one should ever feel they are dirty or weird for kissing family or friends with a peck on the lips.

A lot of people who think it's gross, don't have children of their own. So go on and continue to think the way you do. Parents will continue to kiss their children on the lips because they love them, that's just that. I don't care what anyone has to say about it.
Are you saying that because my parents didn't kiss me on the mouth they didn't love me?

So. YMMV.

But my parents had children IE me and I wasn't kissed on the mouth. Was this because I wasn't loved?

As I don't kiss my children on the mouth, did I not give birth to them? Am I not a mother to them and do I not love them?

And so now it's you don't truly love them unless you are willing to risk passing on an illness.

So if I have the start of a stomach bug that perhaps doesn't affect me, only if I truly love my children would I risk passing the same bug to them which would them make then much sicker than I would be with it?

Does that make sense?
