I have never ended a serious long term relationship.. EVER.I have only ended things with people that I did not connect with on a deeper level, no passion, lacking intellect. But I figure that stuff out very very quickly, so I never end up in a relationship with someone that I foresee myself leaving in the future.
So you left with or without partner knowing why you are leaving?
Leaving them in a dust or saying it's just not what I want at the time? Just to make them get it - it's over and no texts or calls needed anymore?

Cheating I said obvious.
Lying is hard to prove. However depends if they say it's an old blouse - and they just bought it - it a white lie if they know partner flying off the handles about every $ 10!
Lying about being in library and actually being in hotel with another person having sex - is cheating.

I broke up with my ex-bf because I wasn't happy anymore... the relationship was going nowhere. He took me for granted and stopped to progress and grow with me at some point. This was aggrevated by his tempers and his egocentric attitude. It was pretty painful because I loved him a lot and I tried to sort things out and took him back several times.. we just didn't work out!

i find it difficult to express my emotions, my ex was very uninterested in other's emotions (not intentionally) and so to finally express my feelings and to then only have them ignored, was really getting me nowhere.
