Maybe I've spend too much time around dogs. But for me timing is everything. Especially with reinforcing behavior. Cool we reconciled but you don't get the kitty after you stand me up from an event involving family.

You have to be a bit more understanding especially early on. You're learning his ways and he's learning yours. What are his future plans? There's a reason why he works so hard. And for you to be in his life, you have to understand that. I get that you have needs too. But you have to communicate it to him as he communicates his needs to you. My husband works 10-12 hours daily. I'm pregnant now and I can't work. We have 2 other kids. I'm very thankful he works hard and doesn't complain although he's tired when he gets home. He's always been a hard worker. I show appreciation to him and in return, he gives us weekends of just us. As a family. But during the weekdays, I have to understand that I can't just text him and he will reply. If I have a doctor's appoinment, he can't always come with me unless it's a very important one like dating scan or 20th week scan etc. There has to be a compromise and for that to happen, you should work with him and not against him. If he missed something important for you, tell him why it was important to you. And maybe next time he won't miss it again. But you have to give for you to take. And same goes for him.

i know that and tbh with you, we're originally just business partners. my aunt doesn't even know i'm dating him yet. we're going to let people know soon though. he is reaching out more though and often when i'm the one whose really busy. but it's fine now, he acknowledged his shortcomings and apologized. but you're right and i'm going to be more appeasing later on.
