I know people who are knowledgeable about astrology say there is more to compatibility than just sun signs but all successful long term couples I know are a combination of either air and fire, or earth and water or from the same sun sign element.
I do know couples from other combinations that have stuck together for years but all seem to have turbulent and not particularly happy relationships despite staying together. People just tend to stick in relationships for security or for the children it doesn't necessarily mean they are happy just because they've been together years
