And I am a lighter complexion black girl.... with what’s considered “good hair” whatever the hell that means, but color isn’t in any race us an issue. I’ve still been discriminated against. I’ve been discriminated against by my own race where females wouldn’t want to be my friend or talked about me because , “I thought I was all that” in their own words. If they’ve taken the time to know me they’d know I’m a very down to earth laid back person. It was hurtful for me growing up. Or, “he only likes you because you’re caramel, light skinned, good hair.... “ why he couldn’t like me because I’m pretty or have a good personality? But my best friend is darker toned and she really explained to med the root of the issue. Not that it makes it ok... but when people say in your own race, “you’re really cute for a dark skinned girl”. That shit is ignorant to say to someone! But colorism happens often in many races and ethnicities. I heard it’s worse in Asian and Middle Eastern cultures.

I'm also a lighter skinned/or brownish skinned tone girl ...and colorism is real problem in the black community period ...cause lighter is considered "better" and that needs to change ...but in the original post this is straight fetishism ...the women that he hangs around or approach him saying like things "I have never been with a black guy before" "I want your big black d" thats gross not flattering or cute ...they dont value him as a person...its different of they have a genuine connection with someone of a different race .. but from what op describe they dont ...which is why I believe is receiving some of the harsher criticism from the women in his own community ...

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM CENTURIES OF THE PAPER BAG TEST.

ITS NOT THE BLACK COMMUNITY FAULT THESE PROBLEMS EXIST.

IF YOU COULD PASS YOU HAD ADVANTAGES

JUST LIKE THE HOUSE NIGGA AND FIELD NIGGA

BUT END OF DAY YOU STILL A NIGGA

I mean its all true. The black community didnt start the these "weird ass standards of colorism" it started a looooonnngg ass time ago back in slavery days ...and really the way you obtained lighten skin was to be raped by a slave owner ...all very dark history...it sad that its still something we deal with today....

Why is it that black (whether African or Black Americans) WOMEN get out of shape over this shit... its crazy. As a population we want acceptance and to be included... but only if we are separated and "maintain" our culture?!? GTFO with that bull seriously.

I will never turn my nose up at ANYBODY black, white, or yellow purely because they are of specific shade or their hair curls up when its wet.

I like this beautiful Ethiopian girl in Minneapolis, one of the places I travel for work. she's stunning absolutely gorgeous. I'd like to get to know her...

I'm tired, just got back from a country western club (yeah lol)....

I tend to hang out around a bunch of for lack of better term... white people.... and when alcohol is involved a lot of stuff gets said.

one of the things was. "I'd totally let you stick your black d inside"... wtf is that seriously. or "wow you don't act like other black guys"... and my personal favorite. "I've never been with a black guy before."

and it brings up a bigger point. why is mixed relationships so damn taboo still. I'm in my early 30's I've been surrounded by tons of people from all races, and I find things attractive about all of them. I've had relations with every one of the ethnicities that show up on the census form.

I know all about implied bias and all that crap. Why don't most people just see who they like, not just what color they are. we were talking about what physically attracts you earlier in misc forum and I didn't see anybody say white, black, latino (maybe I missed it).... but its automatically implied it seems for most.

Me personally, I get a lot of crap from black women when I date light (skinned/mixed) or white and its frustrating because I really don't have a preference on skin tone or ethnicity... it'd offensive because I have 28 female cousins, and I was raised by women of color and love and respect them.

If you are ghetto (that's hood or white trash) I don't want to speak to you period. that's really the only personality trait that will keep me from even having a dialog with you in the first place.
Dude!!!!!!!!!! When EVER you're in San Antonio, TX, look me up! I will drive us to Wild West. You will SEE what I SEE! Caucasians dancing with Caucasians! I met a Caucasian cowboy. We danced all night. He bumped into Caucasian women (friends); I went to ladies room, came back, and realized the cowboy I had met was hanging out with them. You SHOULD have seen the look on those Caucasian women we giving me (if looks could KILL!). It was as if I was an alien!! (from Mars; not alien). Being Piscean, my 6th sense told me they has asked him, "What the HELL are you doing with this Hispanic woman? Don't you know the rule here at Wild West? We do NOT dance with Hispanics!!" Last year, I EVEN asked a Caucasian cowboy for a dance and he turned me down!!! 😡 My BFF (from California) is Caucasian...they ask her to dance all the time at Wild West!

🤗 cyber hugs!

Love,

Eva

@Hellosaggy:

To answer your original question, racism or any kind of "ism" isn't going to go away until we as a species stop playing the self validation and bias confirmation bias game...which ain't happening soon. Keep in mind, we've only been on this planet 100,000 years or more and haven't evolved much culturally. Despite technology, a lot of our "preferences" still boil down to self preservation and less of a matter of cooperation. In truth, despite all we've achieved, we're still very primitive in our thinking...both men and women.

That being said, don't let someone else's ignorance become your personal battle. While you may need to speak up when the need arises, make peace with the fact that the world may never figure this stuff out. While itts tragic, it's more about your personal growth and leading by example than anything else.

I have also seen in Canada and Europe, interracial dating not being much of an issue and thus it’s more prevalent. However, here in America it’s an issue because the pain and wounds that lie behind it. Someone who didn’t grow up in the US may not understand the racism or even why black people feel the way they feel because they haven’t experienced it in the manner we have.

@DMV I admire your strength for being honest and definitely encourage you to speak out more. I completely agree with you....

I do miss artist like 2 Pac who was this amazing rapper that was popular and in his lyrics from the song Kepp Ya Head Up he’d state, “Some say the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice

I say the darker the flesh then the deeper the roots

I give a holla to my sisters on welfare

2Pac cares, if don't nobody else care

And, I know they like to beat you down a lot

When you come around the block, brothers clown a lot

But please don't cry, dry your eyes, never let up

Forgive but don't forget, girl, keep your head up

And when he tells you you ain't nothin', don't believe him

And if he can't learn to love you, you should leave him

Cause sister, you don't need him

And I ain't tryin' to gas ya up, I just call 'em how I see 'em

You know what makes me unhappy

When brothers make babies, and leave a young mother to be a pappy

And since we all came from a woman

Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman

I wonder why we take from our women

Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?

I think it's time to kill for our women

Time to heal our women, be real to our women

And if we don't we'll have a race of babies

That will hate the ladies that make the babies

And since a man can't make one

He has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one

So will the real men get up

I know you're fed up ladies, but keep your head up”

Conscious rap is not as popular and our popular rappers or musicians aren’t as verbal as he was.

I have dates outside my race. My grandfather is white, but he raped my grandmother for years resulting in her having several mixed kids when she was a teenager.

When i dated a white guy we genuinely cared for one another. We still talk daily. There were periods and moments when race didn’t matter. However, there were times when we’d go out and if a black guy disrespected him and attempted to talk to me while he was there, he’d say things like”oh so now you’re going to leave me for this black guy”! And he’d be very insecure over that. We finally had break up because you are right... you realize that a lot of things you two have in common but that wound, pain, hurt, and insecurities that was caused by his race.... he will never fully understand. In those moments, I’d feel lonely as his mate.
Thank you.

Honestly. CC gives me the courage to speak up.

But they ain't listening. Willfull ignorance.

Wineaux,

Yes! 2pac was ahead of his time. Every line, that brotha was speaking truth. What a message.

I felt the same way you did regarding your boyfriend.

Sometimes race didn't matter but ppls insecurity can bring alot of reality to a situation.

I also agree that it's tough for people to sympathize with the black race or even the black women because of the experience. It's not a shared experience. However, you can empathize.

Other people of color are quick to dismiss the black experience but they forget our fight, our struggle paved the way.

Just because you ain't this chocolate color, you are not safe.

Case in point, Puerto Rico.

They found out real quick that they were Black.

Omg I knew ppl would get in there feelings... listen I do not care who black guys date generally.

I just always wonder how did that happen.

I date white men !!! I was adopted into a white family so culturally I get it. And as I got older yes I traveled out and "mingled" with black ppl.

I believe having a race perference isn't racists but it is discriminatory!!

But honestly idc. Just a thought I have sometimes and wanted to be honest about that thought. I do the same when I see a white man and a less than attractive black woman together. Guess I want her to hon? @lisabethur8

Ppl of different backgrounds getting together just fascinate me but I'm sure u thot boxes wanna believe we are jealous.

Whatever makes u feel important 😂😂😂

i'm very discrimatory too!!! i have a race preference as well like yourself. lol

I find every shade beautiful. My first girlfriend was my complexion...

Yeah like CC said I like exotical black women more than the typical black American woman but that’s just how it is.

A funny story is My ethnic features aren’t as pronounced as most black guys probably due to my dad being half Native American... I get complemented about not having a typical “black” nose... even from black women

I understand your point about cultural identification.

I don’t need someone to validate my standpoint. I just need someone to observe and understand it. That I guess is why I tend to not aide with CC and DMV in their argument.

In this day in age over half of marriages end in divorce. And we talk about black women standing beside us.... most people walk away now when shit gets bad enough for their tolerance. Most people as a whole are weak these days. Which is why I won’t settle until I find someone I enjoy and just enjoy it until I find someone I’m obsessed with lol

I do have to say, as being both Latina and black. I’m looked down upon by other lighter Hispanics (I’m not fully considered in their eyes), I’ve been looked down upon by black women, and white women. What some others don’t speak about is, where do these biracial children who were born fit in?

My mother is German, white green eyes blonde hair. My father is Dominican puertorican black with black features. Out of all the children my mother had, I was the less loved cared for and even ashamed of because I was her colored child. That grew pain in my heart, I felt I didn’t belong to any community besides just black Latinos. We are own kind of unique.

I remember dating a strong black man. He was raised right, sweet, and he had a lot of love to give. It felt right.. he understood my mixed hair and body, he understood my culture and was accepted immediately. He went to an predominantly black university but we decided to date. The look and remarks we got because although I have black features my skin is was still too light for them. I wasn’t considered a strong black woman in eyes of his friends and some of his family. Because of listening to what other people said we didn’t last very long.

What’s another problem? When I date a white men, all of a sudden the roles switch. Why are you with him? Is a black man not good enough for you? I’ve learned I’m not going to keep living to please what society and communities is found good in their eyes because I will never be at peace or happy. I have accepted who I am, I have grown to love what I have to offer. I understand what Is what but I stayed listening to others I would be torn in two and I’m not about to do that.

There is hate when there are interracial relationships but there is more hate for the child that is born out of it. All this makes me sick.
I FEEL SORRY FOR YOUR PAIN. HUGS.

EXACTLY WHEY PEOPLE SHOULD STOCK TO THEIR OWN RACE AND CULTURE

THEIR CHILDREN DO REALLY SUFFER

THE GUY IM DATING MIGHT BE GREAT, BUT HOW ABOUT HIS INLAWS OR FAMILY MEMBERS

MIGHT THEY SAY SOMETHING TO PUT NEGATIVITY IN THE CHILD

I DONT KNOW

I MEAN IM WILLING TO BATTLE FOR MY KIDS, BUT THAT'S TOUGH

IM NOT THE FRIENDLY SORT, ID BE LIKE A MOMMA TIGER

ROAR

I felt I could relate more with that black man I dated, there was no teaching him the kinks textures to my hair, or why my family had both Latino and soul food, and although I was the lightest one in my family everyone else looks black. He just understood, but that still wasn’t good enough. Unless I find another man who shares exactly the same diversities as me, it will always be an interracial relationship on my behalf.

Black women and white women need to learn how to raise their mix children properly. Eventually They will have their set of image issues, bullying racism and backlash to deal with.
can you clarify, you just said you're the lightest one in your family but earlier you wrote "Out of all the children my mother had, I was the less loved cared for and even ashamed of because I was her colored child. "

Accept who you are, be proud of your heritage, ignore the haters.

anyways Just date a BLACK guy dude.

Go find your black king

@DMV is on point. There is actually a name for what she described in her post...but I can't find it in google. I was researching it a time back and my Virgo son found it. It was actually a social experiment that was written up and executed many years ago.

People still suffer from that today because it was conditioned so deeply in the psyche.

My immediate family is very diverse. My two sons are Caucasian and African American....my daughter in law is Hispanic....and my partner is Somalian/Kenyan (and Muslim).

My partner was born in Africa and race discussions are never a topic because he has no concept. He has been in the states for 20 years or so. His ex wife, the mother of his children, is Caucasion and African American.

I never have issues with my partner....as far as what the OP is describing but I have been dating interracially/multicultural for decades and know where I can go to be comfortable and where I would rather not be....like a country western bar...lol. I don't tolerate ignorance very well....even if it's so called "innocent".

Now, my children, on the other hand....have had difficult experiences due to their mixed ethnicity and it equally comes from all races. I get really protective of that and I probably helicopter mom'd them too much as children because people's words hurt.

Millenials.....Im counting on them to change this...they certainly are empowered to do so.

Hopefully, when my grandchildren are adults this won't be an issue still....just in case, I will encourage them to settle and make a life for themselves outside the states.

I have not seen this outside the US.
there is also race discrimination here too, but it's not as obvious and most people are nice.

but it is SIMILAR to the U.S. just because amreicans or canadians think europeans seem more open, they really are discrimatory too.

even the differences if you marry someone from france and you are, like say, spanish from spain or if you're from Portugal and you marry a Scandinavian. or English fellow from the UK.

i think out of my family and my husband's family, i'm the only one who went outside of race, and outside of religion.

and so did my husband, most of his family stay within culture, (and yes stay within religious background it's very important for some, so it's taboo) the only one was the Scorpio cousin who left to go to Australia and New Zealand because she fell in love with an Aussie.

she returned to marry someone else. and also, there is his Libra uncle who has Scorpio venus/Scorpio mars, Capricorn moon, who married a South American Cancer woman. different culture and religion.

i think that's about it.

i'm missing some but i have to remember them. maybe the taboos are mostly different religion and different way of life than others want them to have.

Taboo is such an ugly word...and really offensive.

I realise there is discrimination outside of the US but it's a different flavour and doesn't come from the fucked up way the US was established. I dont think the US will ever recover from that fully.

Every country/continent has an ugly face....tribalism, caste, classism, religion...nobody is free from some kind of ridiculous thinking....

However, if you aren't raised in that environment and emigrate....your chances of it seeping into your mind and being conditioned to think in that way is less likely.

For example, there are certain ways of thinking in the UK that makes me do a double take but I can separate myself from such things because I wasnt born and raised there.

It's similar to what I have experienced with Africans who have emigrated to the US....with exception of CC...lol...

Racism is a ridiculous topic and they just don't attach themselves to it. Sure, it happens to them but they have a foundation.

Same if I went to a country with a caste system...completely foreign to me and there is no way I could relate or attach to that because I have a different foundation.

taboo is just...well taboo. if it's not taboo, it's going to be another word that humans make up in time to make less offensive. Prohibition, forbidden, impermissable.

but i understand what you mean, especially in a religious background, because there are taboos that you can't have sex before marriage, or marry outside of your race and religion. i think this is also relating to not breaking the status quo.

Ummm I generally don't give a hoot who black guys date

But I do wonder when i see a really hot, successful, well educated black guy

And a less than attractive non-black girl

I always think "well damn of all the super hot ( light or dark skin) black women how the hell did u choose that"

I mean I guess it's because they usually didn't grow up on a mixed community. Didn't go to school with a mixed community. So how the hell?

I end up saying maybe she has good head, or maybe he likes a woman who is more...mmmhh"softer"

Idk why... I'm not mad I just wonder why he couldn't find a perfectly good match in the community he was raised in

Unless of course he was raised in a mixed community
So everyone is supposed to date within their own community according to this? :/

Why would anyone want to limit themselves (regardless of race) to only the people that they know and grew up with? Majority of people move when they get older or want to meet new people and experience new things.

No what she is saying is what is the logic behind a successful person dating someone less successful that isn't even in their schema. How does that happen, it's one of those things that makes her go hmm maybe it's because xyz... that is all, just a speculation.

I believe people have preference or at least certain type of people they like, whatever that one would be. I never dated "black guy" cause simply there aren't any around here really lol so would be kinda weird if I preferred them. But I can be objective as well and if someone is good looking, he's good looking regardless on race. Actually girls here tend to fall more for darker skin as it seems lately since we get many arabians around here lol and also I never understood why people take as offense term "black" or "white", it's just easier to say than being more specific, I never mean anything negative when I say black, if only everyone would think that way it would make life much simpler for all of us. But I must say someone who says "never been with a black guy" isn't very bright person lol it's like you're an alien or something lol

Well boyfriend is black educated no master degree just a degree he doesn’t care for since he’s a pro athlete

I’m Asian, nerdy , an engineer, loves math but I’m also decent looking I might say so lmao

I’m not sure how we ended up together but we’ve been together for 4 years

However he’s from the south ... they’re big on black men loving their black women .. he’s family is you religious southern black Louisiana family

I’m asian .., so um I can honestly .., the close minded of interracial dating in black community kinda puts you off.

My asian family on the other hand has no problem dating outside of my race .

His family ... I think would rather he ended marry an average black girl . I hope when they’re around me more they see me for who I am n not my skin color. I’m not around his family so so far it hasn’t been a problem much but I can definitely feel the hate stares from black women

The crazy thing him and I , we don’t even see the race difference because we just see each other as the person we love

It’s other people , but in states like cali interracial dating is common and accepted by most

Mixed relationships.

Okay for others but

me personally is no.

I like my own people.

I never felt attracted

to other races at all.

I do not hate people.

I respect all culture.

For me, it is survival.

Japanese birth rate

is extremely low and

I want to preserve us.

Haafu are not treated

well in our society, ne.

I never wanted my kids

to be of any mixed race.

They would forever try

to find where they fit.

I've dated all ethnicities. I really truly Don't have a preference. That's pretty unfair to say another woman from a different culture won't have your back. I'm not shortsighted and refuse to limit my potential dating pool. I see it more on the Coast wise I see it more on the East Coast. West Coast its pretty normal.

My longest relationships were with a Trinidadian woman (Venezuelan, African, French) and a Russian.

I dated a black girl when I was in high school *shrugs*
If I said this now people would attack for me having said that last part. Lol i'd get "what exactly does shrug mean, and why does it have to mentioned she is black and what difference does that make"? And then they'd follow up with a list of "black women stereotypes" *smh*

Honestly I think it comes from being isolated and segregated.. one thing about the same culture you can assume you have a lot of similarities. Once they get around you they will be fine.

My grandma didn’t like me dating outside my race and made it emphatically known... my mom doesn’t care. It’s generational. My grandma grew up on a plantation in North Carolina. My mom went to school and has friends of all races. Love my mom. ☺️🤗 even if she’s a manipulative Leo🤫

N btw . Why I don’t date asian men ? My dad was a shitty man , my 4 uncles shitty men , My aunts husband ... shitty men . I’m sure there’s asian men out there .... but the ones I grew up with . .. never set a good example of a man I wanted to be with . I have zero desire to get hit , cheated, beat , abuse .

N here I am with a black man ... whose stereotypes is aggressive , cheater, good for nothing to society ..... yet all the black men I have met have been sweet , caring , strong and loyal with a few share of fuck boy here and there . I have a lot of good examples for men and they happens to be black

These experiences created a foundation in preference of men I dated .

Plus I come from a single mom , no dad around, low income environment so I always relayed with minorities more ever since I was little . I feel like this white men don’t get it

So there you go I’m one asian girl who always have white men fetiszing me for being exotic yet I have not stttaction to white men whatsoever

A lot of things about race are merely stereotypes

The truth is a lot of ethnic groups haven’t been around black ppl that they can sit down and build a friendship.

My work wife was 37 when we met. She Never has a conversation with a black person other than in passing saying hello or whatever. She’s from rural Pennsylvania. German descent blonde hair blue eyes (huge boobs but that’s because I noticed not because I’m interested or anything)... she was like really she knows nothing about black people or culture. And I told her. There really isn’t anything to know. People confuse socio-economics with culture.

D.L. Hughley: " You know how many niggas been in your house you racist as a mothafucka" . lmao jk dude. But yeah this white lady I used to know told me that our other white friend was blacker than me, that was almost ten tears ago and I'm still offended. Cause I am not a hoodlum versus him who chose to hang around the thugs and what not, But that putting the ethnicity on the front of every description is undercover racist even though some people use it as a fetish. Another offensive time for me was when one of my other friends was tryin to put me on with this Teena Marie actin white girl and she said she want a real black boy. Insinuatin I wasn't down enough for her. That was my friend random idea and I didn't want her but still offended.
