What man can afford to take care of unlimited children? So, men began to control their sexual urges more. It goes back to biology on some level. It was biologically advantageous for a man to spread it around to a lot of women in terms of getting his DNA out there, but it must have become a problem pretty quickly when we started civilizing ourselves and forming families. What man can afford to take care of unlimited children? So, men began to control their sexual urges more. And it was always advantageous for a woman to hook a good man for the first few years of her baby's life. She wouldn't need other men trying to get in on that when the baby was her primary concern.
But as I've said before, we have big brains and big emotional needs. So we override some of our baser instincts to get those emotional needs met. Or we don't, and then we are rightly called jerks.
