This is rarely said to someone unless they have some kind of obstacle in their way.

It's like when you tell kids - "You are so brave! You can do it!"

Have you ever heard anyone say - "You are a strong, confident man!"

No, because it's assumed they are and it would be demeaning if you did.

I find it condescending.

A strong confident person does not need or expect to hear this. *shrugs*

If you want to give a genuine compliment you say - "I admire your strength and confidemce."

That's my opinion.

You worded it so much better than I did. Thank you! I do get that there are people who would find it encouraging in a time of need, and if they do, then great, but to me...nah.

Some people get inspired by platitudes :shrug:

To me, a strong confident woman is one who handles her problems independently and isn’t running to mommy, daddy or a captain saviour, unless help is absolutely needed. Someone who is self-reliant and such a person seeks a partner based on want and not need.

If someone has to declare they are strong and independent or confident, they most likely aren’t.
